Who Are You?

The anger in her heart and the worry for her grandmother made Lin Wan unable to stay another moment.

She grabbed a coat and was about to leave.

The man on the bed didn’t try to stop her. He just watched her calmly.

Lin Wan didn’t have the energy to guess what he was thinking. She quickly opened the door to leave, but someone blocked her path.

"Miss Lin."

She froze, then slowly turned around.

"Madam Huo."

After everything that happened today, Lin Wan was even more cautious. She knew this woman was not simple.

Qin Man looked at her anxious expression, her tone serious.

"The old master said your pregnancy is unstable. You must take good care of yourself. Besides, it’s already late. It’s too dangerous for you to go out alone. If there’s anything, let’s talk about it tomorrow during the day."

Lin Wan didn’t want to confront her directly, but she was too anxious to give up. Just then, she noticed a servant giving her a signal.

Lin Wan hesitated but forced herself to stay calm. She had no choice but to give up and pretend to be obedient.

"I understand. I’ll go back and rest now."

Qin Man nodded, watching her turn around. Her gaze lingered on Lin Wan’s back for a second before she instructed the servants to take good care of the young mistress.

The servants quickly agreed, and Qin Man left.

Lin Wan returned to the room, frustrated. When she looked at the man on the bed, she felt even angrier.

He didn’t stop her earlier. He was just watching for fun.

"What a despicable man!"

Huo Tingxiao had been feeling frustrated all day. Watching her get stopped gave him a strange sense of relief. He was about to pick up the book on the table when he heard her mutter under her breath.

"Childish."

His expression stiffened for a second.

She was the one who suffered the most today, yet she hadn’t mocked him once.

Lin Wan returned to the bed, her mind filled with worry. She picked up her phone and called her grandmother.

"Hello, the number you have dialed is currently switched off..."

Lin Wan froze. She checked the time and realized it wasn’t even her grandmother’s bedtime yet.

Her anxiety grew. She called several more times, but every call led to the same response.

Unwilling to give up, she suddenly remembered that Aunt Lin was staying at the hospital with her grandmother tonight. She quickly found her number and called.

The phone rang for a while before it was finally answered.

"Aunt Lin! How is Grandma?"

Aunt Lin seemed to be afraid of waking up the person inside, so she walked out lightly before responding.

"Your grandmother went to bed after dinner. She’s already asleep."

Lin Wan let out a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to ask more, Aunt Lin spoke cautiously.

"Wan Wan, I’ve taken care of you since you were little. Tell me the truth, have you encountered any problems?"

Lin Wan’s heart skipped a beat. It took her a moment to find her voice.

"Aunt Lin, why are you asking this? Did something happen?"

Aunt Lin sighed and spoke softly.

"Ever since you left, your grandmother has been feeling down. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn’t say anything. During dinner, she suddenly asked me if she had harmed you in any way."

Lin Wan’s heart tightened.

Now she was sure—her grandmother knew everything.

She had been hiding it from her, afraid that she would get angry, upset, or even refuse to undergo surgery.

But now, her grandmother knew.

Lin Wan’s mind raced in panic, but she forced herself to stay calm. The person on the other end of the call was waiting for her answer.

"Aunt Lin, Grandma is just overthinking because of her illness. Nothing happened. I’m perfectly fine. It’s late, you should rest early. I’ll call again tomorrow morning."

Aunt Lin had originally wanted to ask if she would visit tomorrow, but after hearing Lin Wan’s words, she could only nod.

"Alright, alright."

Lin Wan hung up and immediately messaged Lin Weiwei.

But she had already been blocked.

Of course. After doing such a thing, she was obviously afraid of her. After all, she still wanted what her grandfather left behind.

Thinking about the video and her grandmother’s reaction, Lin Wan wished she could tear Lin Weiwei to pieces.

She didn’t even spare a sick old woman!

Knowing that her grandmother had heart disease, she still deliberately provoked her.

Lin Wan didn’t dare to mention any of this to her grandmother. She couldn’t let her worry.

If Grandma knew, she would be heartbroken.

Lin Wan buried her face in the blanket and didn’t move for a long time. Her eyes were already red.

Huo Tingxiao glanced at her from the corner of his eye, then pretended to be indifferent and went back to his book.

After thinking it over, Lin Wan realized that after today’s incident, Qin Man definitely wouldn’t let her go out easily.

Just using the excuse of "bed rest for pregnancy" was enough to make everyone admire her as a kind and tolerant mistress while keeping her locked inside.

But Lin Wan was always worried about her grandmother.

She was afraid that Grandma would overthink, afraid that Lin Weiwei would find her again.

She used to tell Grandma that she was doing well in the Lin family. She had always said that the Lin family treated her well.

But if Lin Weiwei told her the truth, she would be devastated.

Aunt Lin had to take care of the orphanage. She couldn’t stay at the hospital every day.

Lin Weiwei had too many chances to hurt her.

Suddenly, Lin Wan thought of someone.

She found the number of the person who had sent her the video and dialed.

As the phone rang, she wondered what she could offer if the person asked for something in return.

She had nothing now.

But no one answered.

Lin Wan’s heart sank.

She didn’t want to give up and called again.

Still no answer.

She called several more times, but each time, the phone just rang and rang.

Could the person who sent the video just be playing with her?

Were they just trying to watch her suffer, to see her desperate and helpless?

She quickly dismissed the thought.

She forced herself to calm down and sent a short message.

The message had only three words.

"Who are you?"

She had to know their identity and what they wanted.

If they were a friend, she needed to win them over.

If they were an enemy...

She didn’t want to think about that possibility.

She could only hope this person really wanted to help her.

No reply came.

Lin Wan’s anxiety grew deeper, even causing a slight pain in her lower abdomen.

She thought of the doctor’s warning and forced herself to calm down. Slowly, she lay down.

Huo Tingxiao glanced at her shifting expressions and was about to mock her when Lin Wan suddenly saw something—

She abruptly sat up from the bed.
