Chapter 33: Evolution—Shelgon Reaches Gym-Level Strength

"Grandpa, where's the Dragon Fang?"

Ryuu's eyes sparkled with anticipation as he rushed past Daiki, heading straight for Kiyoshi.

He had been waiting all night for this moment.

Yawning so hard his jaw hurt, he had nearly fallen asleep, but the thought of Dragon Fang kept him going.

Daiki, on the other hand, was less than pleased.

His own son had completely ignored him for a fossilized tooth.

"This kid…," Daiki muttered, face darkening.

"I'm standing right here, and he doesn't even care?"

Sumire chuckled.

"Well, you're just not as valuable as Dragon Fang," she teased.

Daiki rolled his eyes but said nothing.

Because, if he were in Ryuu's shoes, he would absolutely prioritize Dragon Fang too.

Nothing else mattered—this was a game-changer.

Kiyoshi grinned.

"Here it is, Dragon Fang, just as promised," he said, handing over a small black box.

Ryuu carefully accepted it, hands steady despite his excitement.

The billions spent on this artifact?

Worth every yen.

If the seller had owned a Dragon-Type Pokémon, he never would've parted with it.

Opening the box, Ryuu's breath hitched.

Inside lay a large, jagged tooth, aged into a dull white but radiating power.

It was ugly, but to Ryuu, it was the most beautiful thing in the world.

Beside him, Bagon's eyes snapped open.

The small Dragon-Type had been dozing off, but the moment Dragon Fang's aura spread through the room, its eyes widened in pure excitement.

Locking onto the Dragon Fang, Bagon scrambled to its feet.

Then—

With absolutely no shame—

It grabbed onto Ryuu's leg and clung to it for dear life.

A proper, full-body leg hug.

Ryuu was speechless.

"…Really? You're hugging my leg now?"

Bagon looked up at him, eyes full of expectation.

Ryuu couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright, alright. Take it," he said, handing the Dragon Fang over.

Bagon snatched it up without hesitation, tossing its head back and swallowing it whole.

The solid tooth vanished—melting instantly as if it had never existed.

But Ryuu's Data Vision told a different story.

Inside Bagon's small body, a powerful transformation had begun.

Its level skyrocketed, raw Dragon energy surging through its body.

Then—

A burst of white light engulfed Bagon.

"Evolution!"

Daiki, Sumire, and Kiyoshi immediately rushed forward, watching in amazement.

"Bagon's evolving already?"

"It makes sense," Kiyoshi said, stroking his chin.

"It's a quasi-Legendary with a Dragon-Type artifact. Evolution was inevitable."

The light intensified, shifting Bagon's form.

As the glow faded, a larger, rounder figure took its place.

Shelgon.

The once tiny dragon had transformed, encased in a hard, white shell.

Its only visible features were its legs and piercing eyes.

Shelgon let out a deep growl, its presence far stronger than before.

Ryuu's heart pounded.

"Unreal…"

This wasn't just evolution—

It was a massive power boost.

Kiyoshi grinned.

"Ryuu, your Shelgon is officially Gym-level now."

Ryuu checked its stats.

[Shelgon (Dragon)]

[Gender: Female]

[Level: 36 (Gym-Level)]

[Abilities: Rock Head]

[Moves: Dragon Pulse, Dragon Claw, Flamethrower…]

[Potential: Champion-Level]

Unbelievable.

The Dragon Fang had instantly propelled Shelgon from Elite-level to Gym-level.

And its move set?

Not just Dragon Pulse and Dragon Claw—

It had also learned Flamethrower.

"Grandson, your Bagon—ah, no—your Shelgon is incredible," Kiyoshi said, patting Ryuu's shoulder.

"With this strength, you're guaranteed to make waves in the entrance exams."

Ryuu nodded confidently.

"Don't worry, Grandpa. I'll show you just how strong I am."

By the time of the exams, his Shelgon would be even stronger.

If he played this right, it could even reach greater heights than just gym-level.

Very few entrance exam champions had Pokémon that powerful.

And if they did—

None of them had a quasi-Legendary like Shelgon.

"Alright," Kiyoshi yawned, stretching his arms.

"It's late. Let's get some rest."

Daiki nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I'm exhausted from all the running around today."

Sumire simply smiled at her son.

Ryuu, however, wasn't tired anymore.

Lying in bed, he stared at the ceiling, his mind racing.

Shelgon's evolution, its newfound strength—

He was too excited to sleep.

Next to his bed, Shelgon rested peacefully.

Ryuu couldn't help but smile.

"Tomorrow," he murmured.

"We start training again."
