Chapter 57: Slow Progress in Mental Power Growth

"This boss is way too stingy. He'll never get a girlfriend!"

Watching Ryo leave, Ino gritted her teeth in frustration, her expression growing more irritated the longer she thought about it.

Asuma sighed and said, "Alright, let's just focus on training our Pokémon for now."

However, before they could move on, Shikamaru turned to glance at Cynthia.

Noticing his gaze, Cynthia kept a straight face and said, "Don't look at me. I won't help you. Ryo already said so."

Of course, the main reason was that she didn't want to help them. Even training Ryo's Pokémon already felt like too much trouble—there was no way she'd go out of her way to help Asuma and the others.

Even if Ryo hadn't told her not to, she wouldn't have volunteered. She was in a hurry to finish training and return to studying the Diancie egg.

Shikamaru awkwardly smiled. "We understand, but if something's wrong during our training, could you at least point it out?"

The others turned to Cynthia with hopeful eyes.

Cynthia shook her head again. "No, I need to train my Pokémon too. I don't have time to watch over you."

"Pretty lady, you're so beautiful—please help us!"

Ino quickly walked up, linked arms with Cynthia, and playfully pleaded with her, blinking her eyes in an adorably pitiful way.

Even Shikamaru and Choji were stunned by this unexpected behavior. Their mouths twitched uncontrollably.

It was the first time they'd seen Ino act like this. Usually, she carried herself like a little delinquent. Since when did she start acting cute and begging for favors?

They were starting to wonder if the sun had risen in the west that day.

Cynthia blinked, momentarily unsure how to respond.

She didn't want to agree, but it felt awkward to refuse outright.

She wasn't a cold person, after all. If it weren't for her eagerness to study the Diancie egg, she might have helped without hesitation.

Seeing Cynthia hesitate, Shikamaru's eyes lit up. He continued, "You don't have to watch us the entire time. Just glance over occasionally and correct us if something's wrong."

Ino nodded eagerly, gently shaking Cynthia's arm. "Yes, pretty sister, please say yes!"

After a moment of thought, Cynthia sighed and nodded. "Alright, I'll help. But I won't watch you all the time, and I'll only correct your mistakes. The rest is up to you. You should observe and train carefully first."

Ino and Shikamaru beamed with excitement and nodded repeatedly.

Even Asuma couldn't hide his smile. He hadn't expected them to succeed. He silently gave Ino and Shikamaru a thumbs-up in his heart.

"Okay, let go of me now. I need to get back to training Espeon," Cynthia said, giving Ino an exasperated look.

"Got it!" Ino smiled and released her grip on Cynthia's arm.

"Espeon, let's continue."

Cynthia glanced at Espeon, who had been watching everything with amusement. She shot it a warning look before heading toward the training equipment.

Espeon nodded obediently and stood up, following Cynthia.

Compared to training with Dragonite, Espeon definitely preferred training with Cynthia.

Meanwhile, Asuma's team followed Cynthia, remembering her advice to observe carefully before starting their training.

"Rawr?"

Dragonite glanced at Gardevoir in confusion.

Gardevoir shook its head. "This has nothing to do with us. Let's get back to training—we can't disappoint Ryo."

With that, Gardevoir floated toward the training area and began its exercises.

Dragonite flapped its small wings and followed suit, diving into its own training.

Back in the cabin, Ryo collapsed onto the sofa, leaning back with a satisfied sigh.

"Ahhh—so comfortable. Having Cynthia around really makes things different. This is what being a boss should feel like."

Yesterday had been chaotic and exhausting—definitely not what he envisioned for a boss.

"Boss, do you have Pokémon here?"

A voice suddenly came from the door.

Ryo turned to see a man with a forehead protector standing at the entrance.

He got up and walked over. "Yes, we have Pokémon here. Are you here to catch one?"

The man nodded. "Yes, could you tell me more about them?"

Ryo's mouth twitched. Another explanation?

He felt like he'd been explaining Pokémon nonstop. How many times did he have to repeat himself?

Still, business was business. Ryo nodded and began explaining once again.

After listening, the man eagerly grabbed a Poké Ball and headed to the training area with excitement.

Watching him leave, Ryo sank back into the sofa. "I should really write up an introduction and put it on the wall."

Having to explain everything to every customer was just too much.

If he wrote it down, future visitors could read it themselves.

Determined to make his life easier, Ryo went to his room, grabbed some paper and a pen, and quickly started writing.

By midday, two more customers had arrived. Thanks to the written introduction, Ryo didn't have to explain as much.

Most customers read the information on the wall and only asked a few follow-up questions before heading out with a Poké Ball.

With more free time, Ryo finally got back to his own training.

His mental power growth had slowed noticeably in recent days. Although part of it was due to reduced training time, it wasn't the only reason.

Even with the same amount of training, his progress had been much slower than before.

Could I be nearing a breakthrough to quasi-Kage level? Or maybe my rapid progress earlier is catching up with me?

Regardless of the cause, Ryo made a mental note to stay cautious.

Deep down, he couldn't help but wish he could draw another Mental Power Fruit.
