Chapter 58: Split Personality?

After thinking for a while, Ryo shook his head, pushing the thoughts aside. He gathered some Energy Cubes for the Pokémon, prepared a few dishes, and carried them to the back.

All morning, Cynthia had been training the Pokémon for him. Even now, she hadn't come out once.

Such a hardworking employee deserved some appreciation. So, he decided not to call her to feed the Pokémon and instead brought her some food as a reward.

With a smile on his face, Ryo stepped into the backyard—only to be completely stunned by what he saw.

Where was the dedicated training session he had imagined?

Instead, Asuma's team was sitting on the ground, happily enjoying the homemade lunch they had brought.

And Cynthia?

She was sitting next to Ino, chewing on something.

Even the Pokémon had been given Energy Cubes by the group.

"Ino, how is it? Not bad, right?"

Ino looked at Cynthia expectantly.

Cynthia nodded. "It's quite good. Ino, did you make this yourself?"

Ino shook her head. "Nope, my mom made it."

Cynthia froze for a second. If your mom made it, then what was with that expectant look earlier?

She had assumed Ino had made it herself!

"What's wrong, Cynthia?" Ino asked curiously.

Cynthia shook her head. "Nothing, just eat."

Ino nodded. "You too, Cynthia!"

"Are you sure?"

"It's fine! I can't finish it all anyway."

Standing at the entrance, Ryo's mouth twitched uncontrollably.

Seriously?

Did no one remember I exist?

They were all eating, and not one of them thought about him?

"Ahem—"

After waiting for a while and still being ignored, Ryo cleared his throat loudly.

Hearing the sound, everyone turned toward him.

As soon as they saw him, their expressions became a bit awkward.

Asuma, looking slightly embarrassed, stood up. "Boss, you're here. Have you eaten?"

Ryo's mouth twitched again.

He sighed and shook his head. "Not yet. You all go ahead."

Sensing the atmosphere, Asuma simply nodded and sat back down.

Ryo didn't say anything more. He walked over to where the Pokémon were gathered and turned to Dragonite. "Dragonite, call the others over."

"Rawr~"

"Espeon~"

Dragonite and Espeon nodded before quickly heading off toward the mountains.

As they left, Ryo took out a meal he had prepared and handed it to Cynthia. "Here, eat. I'm not sure if you'll like it, though."

As someone who had crossed over from the Dragon Kingdom, he naturally cooked Dragon Kingdom-style food.

Cynthia, on the other hand, was from the Pokémon world, which had cuisine similar to that of the Hidden Leaf Village. She might not be used to it.

Cynthia didn't say much. She took the food, thanked him, and started eating.

After all, she would've felt bad if she had only eaten Ino's food.

She took a bite, and her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Ryo, I didn't expect you to be such a good cook! This is delicious!"

"Hahaha, it's nothing."

Hearing her praise, Ryo laughed. As a Dragon Kingdom native, how could he not feel a little proud?

Meanwhile, Ino watched with a skeptical expression.

"Really?"

To her, Ryo was stingy, greedy, and miserly. How could someone like that be good at cooking?

Cynthia nodded. "Yes! Try it for yourself, Ino."

Ino hesitated before taking a bite. The next moment, her eyes widened in shock.

But after a brief pause, she merely nodded. "It's alright. Nothing special."

Cynthia frowned slightly and took another bite. "Really? I think it's great."

Ryo shook his head, amused.

It was obvious Ino just didn't want to admit she liked it.

Ignoring her, he continued eating.

Before long, Dragonite and Espeon returned, followed by a group of Pokémon from the mountains.

Asuma's team was stunned.

"So many Pokémon!"

They had seen some in the mountains before, but nowhere near this many.

Asuma turned to Ryo. "Boss, are all these Pokémon?"

Ryo nodded. "Yep."

With that, he started feeding them Energy Cubes.

Just then, Ino hesitantly asked, "Boss, can I feed them too?"

Many of the Pokémon were adorable, and she couldn't resist the urge.

Hearing this, Asuma, Shikamaru, and Choji also looked at Ryo expectantly.

Ryo nodded. "Sure, go ahead."

Honestly, he was more than happy to let them do it—it saved him the trouble.

"Boss, you're the best! You're not stingy at all!"

Taking the Energy Cubes, Ino beamed with excitement.

Ryo's eye twitched.

Excuse me? When was I ever stingy?!

Did Ino really think of him as stingy?

Oblivious to Ryo's expression, Ino happily fed the Pokémon alongside Shikamaru and Choji, grinning as they interacted with them.

Meanwhile, Cynthia remained seated, just like Ryo, still focused on eating the food he had prepared.

Time passed quickly, and after their meal, Ryo and Cynthia returned to the cabin while Asuma's team stayed behind to continue training their Pokémon.

Ryo couldn't help but feel exasperated—weren't they supposed to be ninjas? Shouldn't they be out on missions instead of spending an entire day training Pokémon?

Then again, he couldn't complain since they had already paid.

"Ryo, where's my ice cream?"

Just as Ryo was about to settle on the couch to resume his training, Cynthia stopped him with her question.

Ryo was momentarily speechless before forcing a bitter smile. "Cynthia, I didn't even go out today. Where do you expect me to get ice cream from?"

Cynthia frowned. "I don't care. If there's no ice cream, I won't help train your Pokémon anymore."

Ryo's eye twitched, and he stared at her in disbelief.

You're a Champion! Why are you acting like a little girl?

"Ugh—"

Rubbing his face, he sighed. "Fine! I'll go buy it for you tonight, okay?"

Cynthia thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright, but I'll decide how much you buy."

Ryo chuckled and nodded. "Sure, you decide."

It didn't really matter to him—ice cream wasn't expensive. The money he made from just one Poké Ball sale could probably buy a ton of it.

Satisfied, Cynthia smiled and didn't press the issue further.

However, in the next moment, her expression suddenly turned serious as she walked toward the incubator.

The abrupt change in demeanor left Ryo stunned.

What the hell? How did she switch moods so fast?

Does she have two personalities or something?

Shaking his head in amusement, he let out a sigh of admiration before heading toward the couch.
