Present Day – Tensions Rising
The air inside the safe house was thick with tension.
Luca was stable, but his presence alone set everyone on edge. He sat with a lazy smirk, despite the pain evident in his posture. Nathan remained close, arms crossed, his expression unreadable. Dante paced, restless, while Elijah leaned against the doorframe, watching them all.
"We can't just sit here," Dante said, his voice sharp. "Lorenzo won't wait for us to make a move."
"No, but we need to know what we're up against," Elijah countered. He turned to Luca. "You resurfaced after years of being presumed dead. Now Lorenzo's coming after all of us. Start talking."
Luca's smirk faded. He exhaled, running a hand through his disheveled blond hair. "Lorenzo and I were supposed to be allies."
Nathan scoffed. "You betrayed him."
Luca tilted his head. "Did I?" His eyes locked onto Nathan's, something dangerous flickering in them. "Or was it the other way around?"
Nathan's jaw tightened. "Don't turn this around, Moretti."
Dante's patience snapped. "Enough." He stepped forward, his tone sharp. "What the hell happened between you and Lorenzo?"
Luca hesitated. For the first time, his usual arrogance faltered.
Then, finally, he spoke.
"I was working with him," Luca admitted. "But I wasn't the only one." He glanced at Nathan. "You remember, don't you?"
Nathan didn't answer immediately. His hands curled into fists, his shoulders tense. "I remember you disappearing," he finally said. "I remember thinking you were dead."
Luca's lips pressed into a thin line. "Lorenzo wanted me dead. And he used you to make it happen."
Silence fell over the room.
Elijah's sharp gaze flicked to Nathan. "Is that true?"
Nathan didn't deny it. But his voice was tight when he spoke. "I didn't have a choice."
Luca let out a bitter chuckle. "You always had a choice."
Tension crackled between them, years of unresolved history threatening to surface.
Dante stepped between them. "If we're going to survive this, we need to work together." His eyes met Luca's. "All of us."
Luca studied him for a long moment before finally nodding.
But trust?
That was another matter entirely.

Years Ago – The Truth About Luca's Past
Nathan stood in the shadows of a warehouse, rain dripping from his soaked jacket. He shouldn't have come.
But he had to see him.
Luca leaned against a crate, a cigarette dangling from his lips. When he saw Nathan, his smirk widened. "Didn't think you'd show."
Nathan's hands curled into fists. "You're playing a dangerous game."
Luca stepped closer, his voice dropping to a murmur. "I don't play, Nathan." His fingers brushed against Nathan's jaw, his touch familiar. "I only do what's necessary."
Nathan's breath hitched. "Lorenzo—"
"I don't answer to Lorenzo anymore."
Nathan stiffened. "Then who do you answer to?"
Luca's smirk returned. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Nathan should have walked away.
But just like before—
He didn't.
And that was mistake number two.
