Safe House

Present Day – The Safe House

Elijah parked the car outside an old, abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. The place looked rundown, but Nathan moved with familiarity, unlocking the door without hesitation.

"In here," Nathan ordered, helping Luca inside. Dante followed closely, his sharp gaze scanning for threats.

Elijah shut the door behind them, locking it tight. "This place yours?"

Nathan shook his head. "Not exactly. Just a place I used before."

Elijah didn't push. Right now, getting Luca stable was the priority.

Nathan guided Luca onto a worn-out couch, grabbing a first-aid kit from a nearby cabinet. The second he pressed gauze to the wound, Luca winced.

"Try not to kill me, Cross," Luca muttered.

Nathan didn't respond. He just tightened his grip, working fast to clean the wound.

Dante leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "We need to talk about Lorenzo."

Elijah nodded. "He let us go tonight, but next time? He won't."

Nathan finally spoke, his voice tense. "Lorenzo doesn't back down. He plays the long game."

Luca chuckled weakly. "Guess we have that in common."

Nathan shot him a look. "This isn't a joke."

Luca met his gaze, something flickering in his eyes. "I know."

Silence stretched between them, heavy with things unsaid.

Elijah finally broke it. "Rest for now. We'll figure out our next move in the morning."

But none of them would sleep easy.

Because Lorenzo wasn't their only problem.

Years Ago – Luca & Nathan's Past

The room was dimly lit, the scent of whiskey and gunpowder in the air.

Luca sat on the edge of the bed, watching Nathan pull on his shirt.

"You're leaving already?" Luca asked, voice laced with amusement.

Nathan didn't look at him. "I shouldn't have stayed this long."

Luca smirked. "And yet, you did."

Nathan exhaled, turning to face him. "We can't keep doing this."

Luca leaned back, his golden hair tousled, his lips curved into something dangerous. "You say that every time."

Nathan clenched his jaw. "Because it's true."

Luca's smirk faded, his gaze darkening. "Then leave."

Nathan didn't move.

Because he couldn't.

Because no matter how much he tried to deny it—

Luca Moretti had a hold on him.

And that terrified him more than anything.
