A Dangerous Escape

Present Day – Fleeing the Scene

Elijah's heart pounded as he ducked behind a rusted car, gunfire ringing in his ears. The second group—whoever they were—had stormed in fast, forcing Lorenzo to retreat. But that didn't mean they were safe.

Dante crouched beside him, reloading his gun. "We need an exit—now."

Nathan had Luca propped up against a wall, his face grim. "He's losing too much blood."

Luca let out a weak chuckle, despite the pain. "You guys worry too much."

Elijah gritted his teeth. "Shut up, Moretti."

Dante peered through the chaos. "There—side alley."

Elijah nodded. "Cover me."

Dante and Nathan provided cover fire as Elijah darted forward, scanning for threats. The alley was clear—for now. He signaled the others. "Move!"

Nathan practically dragged Luca as they sprinted through the narrow passageway. Behind them, gunfire continued, but their attackers were too busy dealing with each other to give chase.

By the time they reached the getaway car, Luca was barely holding on.

Elijah slammed the driver's door shut. "We need to get him patched up."

Nathan's jaw clenched. "I know a place."

Dante looked over at him. "Is it safe?"

Nathan didn't answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at Luca, something unreadable in his eyes. "It's the only option."

Elijah didn't argue. "Fine. Tell me where to go."

As the car sped into the night, one thought loomed over all of them—

Lorenzo wasn't finished.

And neither was the past.

Years Ago – Luca & Nathan's Past

Nathan paced in the dimly lit room, tension thrumming in his veins.

Luca leaned against the desk, watching him. "You're going to wear a hole in the floor."

Nathan stopped. "You don't take anything seriously, do you?"

Luca's smirk faded. "I take you seriously."

Silence stretched between them.

Then, Luca stepped forward, brushing a thumb over Nathan's lips. "You want to walk away?" His voice was quiet, dangerous.

Nathan's breath hitched.

Because he should.

He should walk away.

But when Luca kissed him—

He didn't.

And that was his first mistake.
