The gunshot rang out, cutting through the chaos.

Elijah's breath caught in his throat as he watched—

Luca staggered.

His body jerked from the impact, a crimson stain spreading across his side.

But he didn't fall.

Nathan's gun was still raised, his hand steady, but his eyes—his eyes betrayed him.

Luca gritted his teeth, a strained chuckle escaping his lips. "Knew you still had a soft spot for me."

Elijah was already moving, gun drawn. "Nathan—drop it. Now."

Nathan hesitated, his fingers twitching.

Dante's voice was like steel. "If you wanted him dead, you wouldn't have missed."

Lorenzo's men were closing in, gunfire still raging around them, but the only thing that mattered in that moment was the space between Nathan and Luca.

Nathan exhaled sharply. "You should have stayed away, Luca."

Luca coughed, blood on his lips. "And miss all this fun?"

Nathan clenched his jaw—but before he could say more, another round of bullets forced them apart.

"MOVE!" Dante barked, grabbing Elijah and pulling him toward cover.

Luca, bleeding but still smirking, vanished into the shadows.

And Nathan?

Nathan didn't chase him.

Because for the first time, he wasn't sure if he wanted to.

Luca leaned in, his voice low. "Then why do you keep hesitating now?"

Nathan didn't answer.
