Moriarty/ Sherlock: Blood and Shadows

---

The Devil's Embrace

Jack smiled.

Not the grin of a madman—no, something deeper. Something worse.

A smile of understanding.

Holmes and Moriarty had accepted his invitation.

Or so he thought.

The dim candlelight flickered in the abandoned church, dancing across the ancient stone walls. The air was thick with the scent of blood and decay.

Jack watched them, his crimson eyes glinting.

"You have made a wise decision."

Moriarty chuckled. "I tend to make those."

Holmes said nothing.

Jack tilted his head, studying him. "Still hesitant, detective?"

Holmes met his gaze, unflinching. "I do not hesitate. I observe."

Jack's grin widened. "Good."

Then, he stepped closer.

And the air changed.

The candlelight dimmed, as if the very shadows obeyed him.

Moriarty remained composed. Holmes' muscles tensed ever so slightly.

Jack whispered, "Shall I tell you the truth of this city, gentlemen?"

Holmes' voice was steady. "I already know the truth."

Jack chuckled. "No, detective. You know the illusion."

He spread his arms.

"This city is a corpse. A rotting thing, kept alive by greed and lies. The powerful pretend to hold the reins, but they are weak. Corrupt. Unworthy."

His voice lowered.

"I am simply… correcting that."

Holmes' fingers curled into a fist. "By slaughtering them?"

Jack's smile did not waver. "By freeing London from their chains."

Silence.

Then, Moriarty smirked.

"An interesting philosophy."

Jack turned to him. "You understand, don't you?"

Moriarty's smirk deepened.

"Oh, more than you think."

Holmes stole a glance at Moriarty. He was playing the part perfectly.

Jack nodded. "Then prove it."

The air grew colder.

Moriarty leaned forward. "How?"

Jack's eyes gleamed.

"There is a man. A powerful man. A man whose name is rotting this city from the inside."

He pulled a folded note from his pocket, passing it to Moriarty.

Moriarty unfolded it slowly.

A name was scrawled across the parchment.

Sir Edmund Blackwood.

Holmes' breath slowed.

Blackwood was no ordinary man. A political giant. Ruthless. Untouchable.

Jack's voice was like silk.

"Bring me his blood."

Holmes and Moriarty exchanged a glance.

Then, Moriarty grinned.

"Consider it done."

A Game of Betrayal

As they left the church, Holmes spoke under his breath.

"This is dangerous."

Moriarty chuckled. "Oh, absolutely."

Holmes' jaw tightened. "If we kill Blackwood—"

Moriarty interrupted, his voice quiet but sharp.

"We don't."

Holmes frowned. "Then what do you suggest?"

Moriarty's golden eyes gleamed in the darkness.

"We make Jack believe we did."

Holmes exhaled.

"…And if that fails?"

Moriarty smirked.

"Then we improvise."

And in the shadows, Jack watched.

Smiling.

Waiting.
