Silence hung in the air.
Alex's chest was tight.
His whole life—his memories—his identity… a lie.
He clenched his fists. "So what now? They come for me, and we just… wait?"
Lillian's gaze hardened. "No. We take the fight to them."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Oh, so now we're going after the super-secret government experiment people? Cool, cool, that seems smart."
Jax groaned. "This is how people in movies die."
Lillian ignored them. "I know where their main facility is. It's hidden, underground. If we destroy their servers, we wipe everything they have on you."
Alex exhaled. "Then let's do it."
Evelyn shook her head. "We'd be walking into a death trap."
Jax sighed. "I hate that I agree with her."
Lillian smirked. "Who said we're walking in?"
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What's the plan?"
Lillian pulled out a small device—a holographic map.
"Paradox HQ is in a classified bunker. Heavily guarded. But I have blueprints. If we take out their mainframe, they lose all their data on you."
Jax rubbed his temples. "You make it sound easy, but spoiler alert—it's probably not."
Evelyn crossed her arms. "We're going to need firepower."
Lillian smirked. "I might know a guy."
Alex took a breath.
For once—he wasn't running.
He was going to end this.
The Calm Before the Storm
They had 12 hours to prepare.
Rigs stocked weapons. Jax made snacks. Evelyn sharpened her knives.
Alex stood on the rooftop, looking out at the city.
Lillian joined him.
"You okay?"
He sighed. "Honestly? I have no idea."
She smiled softly. "You're stronger than you think."
Alex nodded. "I just hope it's enough."
She put a hand on his shoulder.
"It will be."
