Chapter Twenty-Nine
A Silent Scream
Zara's POV
I sat there, breathing heavily, watching as Lior tightened the chains around my wrists. His grip was firm, precise—ensuring that no matter how much I fought, I'd never break free.
My throat ached from trying to yell, but no sound came out.
I tried again, forcing every ounce of strength into a scream—
Nothing.
Only a weak, hoarse whisper that barely scraped the air.
Lior wiped the corner of his mouth where a small trickle of blood remained from when I'd kicked him. He sighed dramatically, tilting his head as he smirked down at me.
"You really thought you had a chance, didn't you?" he mused. " You think you are smart enough to trick me?"
I glared at him, my breath ragged with fury.
"You should see yourself right now," he chuckled. "So angry. So pathetic. So weak."
He crouched, reaching for my face, but I jerked away before he could touch me.
