A Choice to Leave

Chapter Thirty-Two

A Choice to Leave

Zara's POV

A week had passed.

Seven days since everything had fallen apart.

Since Lior had taken me. Since I had confronted Hunter. Since I had thrown Cassandra and Selene out of my room and forced myself to pretend I was okay.

But I wasn't.

I avoided everyone.

Barely left my room unless absolutely necessary. No one came looking for me either, which made it easier to disappear into the silence of the castle.

But today, I couldn't stand it anymore.

I needed air.

So I walked.

The castle's stone hallways felt quieter than usual, almost empty. The tension in the pack had shifted since my return, but I wasn't sure if it was in my favor or against me.

I didn't care.

I just kept moving until I stepped outside into the open courtyard.

The fresh air was a relief.
