This Spider-Man world did not yield what Ian wanted, so he decided to check out the neighboring The Amazing Spider-Man world.
These two parallel worlds belong to different streams of the same time branch. Traveling between them is much easier and far less dangerous, so there was no need for a complicated preparation process.
After running a mental simulation to ensure there were no issues, Ian opened the space-time portal and stepped forward into the passage.
At that moment, Ian suddenly received some obscure information—something that hadn't happened in his previous traversal.
This unexpected development made Ian stop in his tracks.
Traveling through time and space is an extremely dangerous endeavor, and any unforeseen situation must be taken with utmost seriousness.
Since there was no rush, Ian decided to study it first before proceeding.
The information was highly complex and different from any known form of data Ian had encountered. Perhaps it could be described as "higher-dimensional information."
His Level 4 knowledge of space-time studies could barely analyze it, but the process would take considerable time.
So, Ian withdrew and closed the space-time portal.
"What happened? Why did you stop?" Raven asked, confused.
"There was an unexpected anomaly. I won't be traveling for now," Ian replied.
Raven did not press for details but simply asked, "What's our plan now?"
"I need to find a quiet place to resolve this issue. It will take about a month. During this time, you're free to do as you please," Ian said.
"Need any help?"
A smile appeared on Raven's face. A month-long trip in another world sounded like fun.
Ian originally intended to refuse, but after a second thought, he realized there was no need.
There were minor tasks he could handle himself, but Raven would undoubtedly be able to manage them much more easily. Having someone take care of them would save him trouble.
So, Ian instructed, "Find me a quiet place and prepare enough supplies to last for a while."
He didn't need anything else. Analyzing higher-dimensional information was something only Ian himself could do—no equipment, not even a supercomputer, could help.
"No problem!" Raven agreed without hesitation.
For her, these tasks were effortless. Within half a day, everything was taken care of.
The house Ian had Raven find was a villa in the suburbs, stocked with enough supplies to last him several months.
With Spider-Man's story now unfolding, New York was about to become very chaotic. Since Ian needed a quiet environment for his research, he had to stay away from the city center.
After setting up Ian's residence, Raven chose to stay in New York.
After all, watching the drama unfold was far more entertaining than sightseeing.
Knowing that Ian needed various types of knowledge, she spent the first few days visiting major companies, universities, and research institutions in New York, collecting as much technological data as possible.
Although most of the information was redundant or useless, even a small amount of useful material would make her efforts worthwhile.
A few days later, Peter Parker's transformation was nearly complete, and he was gradually adapting to his abilities.
Raven disguised herself as his neighbor Jane and paid him a visit, easily obtaining a sample of Spider-Man's blood.
Next came the Goblin Serum and the Green Goblin's blood, which were just as easy to acquire.
All Raven had to do was follow Spider-Man around and pick up whatever was left behind in the chaos.
Ian hadn't explicitly requested these things, but Raven figured they might be useful to him, so she collected them as she watched events unfold.
This world had very few superpowered beings, and its defensive measures were practically nonexistent. For Raven, there were no real obstacles.
By the time Ian finished analyzing the higher-dimensional information, the first phase of the story had already concluded.
Seeing what Raven had brought back, Ian was delighted. "Bringing you along was definitely the best decision!"
Initially, these items were of little value to Ian in terms of research.
But after analyzing the higher-dimensional information, they suddenly became crucial—especially Spider-Man's blood and the Goblin Serum!
The higher-dimensional information was chaotic. Most of it was incomprehensible, but a small portion could be analyzed and understood, though it was fragmented.
From this portion, Ian extracted one key piece of information:
Bringing objects that contain the core information of this world into the neighboring one would cause the two parallel timelines to merge. The parallel worlds would fuse into one, and their storylines would combine.
Most importantly, as the initiator of this fusion, Ian would receive a significant reward!
And the so-called "objects containing core information" were best represented by the physical remains of key characters in the story.
According to Ian's understanding, key characters referred to the protagonist and the villains, as only they carried clear traces of the narrative—something side characters lacked.
Ian didn't hide anything and shared his discovery with Raven because he would need her cooperation for the next phase of his plan.
"So, I need to stay in this world and continue collecting these so-called 'core objects,' while you go to the other world to do the same?" Raven asked, puzzled.
"That's right," Ian nodded.
Receiving confirmation, Raven was still somewhat confused. "Why not finish collecting everything in this world first and then go to the parallel one?"
"If we do that, the moment we enter the other world, the parallel timelines will instantly merge. That would cause severe disruptions to its storyline, making it much harder to collect the core objects there," Ian explained.
"Wait… isn't merging the timelines your goal?"
Midway through her sentence, Raven suddenly realized Ian's true plan. "You want to merge this entire time branch back into the main timeline?!"
Both parallel worlds were offshoots of the main timeline. To reintegrate them, he would need core objects from both parallel timelines.
"Exactly," Ian confirmed.
Although he wasn't entirely sure what benefits merging the two parallel worlds would bring him, he was certain that merging the entire time branch back into the main timeline would yield even greater rewards.
This meant they had to split up, significantly increasing the risk.
However, given Raven's abilities, she would undoubtedly be able to complete her task even if she worked alone.
Ian briefly explained the major events of both worlds to Raven and then asked, "Do you want to stay in this world or go to the parallel one?"
The difficulty level and time span were roughly the same, so the choice was entirely up to her.
"I'll stay in this world. I have no interest in going to the parallel one," Raven replied without hesitation.
"That works too. Take this necklace—when you finish collecting everything, smash the gemstone," Ian said, handing her a sapphire necklace.
Ian had meticulously crafted this necklace, engraving his law runes onto it and sealing a portion of his law energy within the gem.
Smashing the gemstone would activate the law runes and provide Ian with a precise location across space-time.
With an exact coordinate, he could avoid time discrepancies between parallel worlds and ensure they completed their tasks simultaneously.
