Rebellion Against Heaven - Part 41

Chapter 41: The Hunt for the Heralds II

Death leaned back on his throne, his dark silhouette shrouded in a spectral mist that danced around him as if he had a will of his own. His expression was that of a child who is about to open a new toy.

"Well... we have already sent many gifts to Aiko and Ryuusei. But wouldn't it be more fun to take it a little further? His voice echoed through the huge room, full of malicious amusement.

In front of her, hundreds of figures knelt. They were the Common Heralds, his faithful army, but this time they would not be mere soldiers. No. It was about 500 super-trained level Heralds. True machines of destruction, forged in the fires of hell.

"Go. Death snapped his fingers, and a surge of dark energy spread like a storm. "Look for those two. That tonight... is unforgettable for them.

The Heralds vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving behind an eerie silence. The Hunt had begun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a quiet night. Ryuusei and Aiko were resting in their apartment, covered only in baggy pajamas. The adrenaline of the last fights was still vibrating in their bodies, but in that instant they were enjoying a rare moment of peace.

"It looks like we'll have a quiet night at last," Ryuusei murmured, ploping down on the sofa.

"But I'm so unlucky that my toy (Daichi) went for a walk on the street and bought some things.

Aiko was flipping through a magazine, her mind distracted.

"Don't say it out loud. Whenever we do, something happens.

And then, as if the universe were punishing them for their naivety, the ceiling exploded into a thousand pieces.

The noise was deafening. Fragments of concrete and wood rained down on them, as dust filled the air. Before they could react, dozens of figures dressed in dark armor fell from the sky like meteorites.

"Good evening, you bastards!" one of the heralds shouted in a mocking voice. Death sends you greetings!

Ryuusei sat up with a grimace of annoyance.

"They don't even let us sleep peacefully?"

Aiko sighed, taking her sword from the Black Herald.

"At least that way we wake up well.

The battle erupted into a frenzy of blood and steel. Despite being in their pajamas, Ryuusei and Aiko showed why they were the most feared.

Ryuusei took his hammer and smashed it into the ground. A shockwave sent several heralds into the air, shattering bones on impact. Aiko slipped through the enemies, her black sword slicing through flesh and armor with surgical precision.

The screams of pain mixed with the sound of metal crashing. The once-welcoming apartment became a blood-soaked battlefield. But the heralds were many. Too much.

And then, the chaos reached a new level.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From among the Heralds, a hulking figure emerged. A fat Black Herald, with muscles as thick as stone columns.

"Time for a little trip!"

With a speed that did not correspond to his size, he caught Aiko and Ryuusei with crushing force and, with a bestial roar, threw them into the sky.

Both flew like projectiles. The wind roared around him, while the landscape became distorted.

"DAMN FAT! Ryuusei shouted as he tried to steady himself in the air.

Aiko, on the other hand, only sighed.

"At least we don't have to clean the house anymore...

Seconds later, they hit the center of Tokyo.

The clash was a cataclysm. The earth shook. Cars were vandalized. Light poles exploded. The chaos was absolute.

People screamed and ran in all directions.

And the news cameras captured it all.

Asphalt broke under their bodies, cars exploded into flames, and light poles bent like paper.

Panicked screams rose immediately. People ran in all directions, as police sirens blared in the distance.

Within minutes, news cameras captured the scene.

Screens across the country showed high-definition images: two bloodied figures emerging from the rubble, with cold, defiant eyes.

The reporter, her face pale, tried to keep her composure.

"We're in Tokyo, where two dangerous individuals have been seen attacking the city!" It is believed that these criminals are responsible for the massacre in the alley a few months ago...

The footage showed Ryuusei crushing heralds with her hammer mercilessly, while Aiko slashed with lethal precision. For the viewers, there was no context. Just senseless violence.

Chaos spread like wildfire.

And then, the news reached the wrong ears.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a secluded house, a middle-aged couple watched television with a puzzled expression.

Images on the screen showed the two young men brutally fighting enemies invisible to the public eye.

The man frowned.

"Hey, my dear... isn't that young man we saw months ago?"

His wife looked at him in surprise.

"The dark-haired boy?" Now that you mention it... Yes, it looks very similar.

An awkward silence filled the room.

"Apparently he is a criminal.

The woman shuddered.

"What a horror...

(They did not remember their own son.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the live broadcast shook the nation, the world's mightiest heroes watched the images with serious eyes.

In a secret conference room, the faces of the higher-ups were gloomy.

"If those two are still on the loose, the damage will be irreparable," said a veteran hero, crossing his arms.

Another, younger hero, gritted his teeth.

"We can't allow it.

The order was given. Ryuusei and Aiko were now enemies of the world.

On the other hand, in a dark corner of the city, the villains watched the broadcast with wolfish smiles.

One of the country's most wanted criminals burst out laughing.

"How fascinating!

The gears of fate were turning.
