Chapter 1: Persecuted for the Truth
Screens across the country showed high-definition images: two bloodied figures emerging from the rubble, cold, defiant eyes.
The reporter, her face pale and voice trembling, tried to keep her composure.
"We're in Tokyo, where two dangerous individuals have been seen attacking the city!" It is believed that these criminals are responsible for the massacre in the alley a few months ago...
The footage showed Ryuusei crushing Harbingers with her hammer mercilessly, while Aiko slashed with lethal precision. For the viewers, there was no context. Just senseless violence.
Chaos spread like wildfire.
And then, the news reached the wrong ears.
From the horizon, a golden light burst forth like the dawn before its time. A sacred glow illuminated the ruins, and an imposing figure descended from the sky. His armor shone with golden reflections, and his cloak waved with an air of unquestioned authority.
The Heralds, who until a moment ago seemed invincible, shrank cautiously. Something in the presence of that being terrified them more than death itself.
Aurion, the Overlord, had arrived.
The air vibrated with his voice, which resounded like thunder.
"Stop right now!"
Aiko exchanged a glance with Ryuusei.
"This got worse.
Before Ryuusei could answer, another light descended from the sky, shrouding the scene in a heavenly glow.
A pair of wings of glowing light opened majestically. Archangel, the Celestial Warrior, landed with his divine spear in his hand, his gaze filled with unwavering judgment.
"The higher will has spoken," he said in an icy voice. Those who spread chaos must face justice.
The tension was unbearable.
Aurion raised a hand and an invisible energy immediately oppressed them. The pressure was brutal. The ground beneath his feet cracked.
But before he could deliver his final blow, a new rumble tore through the night.
The Harbingers, who had remained in the shadows biding their time, regrouped en masse. A dark storm of evil energy spread from the skyscrapers, forming a sea of enemies that swooped down on the heroes without warning.
Aurion clicked his tongue.
"Insects."
With a single wave of his hand, a blast of light tore dozens of Heralds apart instantly.
Archangel, with an unchanging expression, raised his spear to heaven. A blinding flash erupted from her before she hurled it with devastating force. The spear pierced entire rows of Heralds, tearing bodies apart as if they were made of paper.
Chaos had broken out.
Ryuusei and Aiko looked at each other. They knew that if they didn't escape now, their fate was sealed. Taking advantage of the heroes' distraction, Ryuusei used his hammer to breach the asphalt and launch himself into the sewers. Aiko followed without hesitation.
From above, Aurion frowned.
"They won't get far.
Archangel, without taking his eyes off the confrontation, nodded slowly.
"The hunt is just beginning.
In the darkness of the underground tunnels, Ryuusei and Aiko gasped, their bodies exhausted but their minds on alert.
"What do we do now?" Aiko asked.
Ryuusei clenched his fists, his expression hardening.
"Survive." And find a way to make this world hear the truth.
In the underground tunnels, moisture and stench enveloped them instantly. Dirty water splashed under his hurried footsteps.
"We are sought after by the world's mightiest heroes. If we are caught, we will be executed without hesitation.
"Then let them come," Ryususei replied, with a defiant smile. Because this story is not over yet.
The shadows of the tunnels enveloped them. Outside, on the surface, the hunt had begun.
