Selene's vision blurred before she could fully process what had happened.
The pain in her back was overwhelming, her body giving out from exhaustion and blood loss. She barely registered Noah and Nora's voices calling her name before everything faded to black.
When she collapsed, Noah and Nora froze.
For a second, neither of them moved.
Then, as if something snapped inside them, they rushed toward her.
Noah knelt down, his hands hovering over her body, unsure of what to do.
"Selene? Hey, wake up!"
Nora's breathing was ragged.
"She's hurt. We need to—"
Before she could finish, one of the bodyguards shoved past them.
It was the same guard Selene had thrown over her shoulder earlier, and his face was twisted with irritation. Without a hint of gentleness, he grabbed Selene's limp form, lifting her up roughly.
Noah's and Nora's eyes darkened.
"Be careful with her!"
Nora snapped.
The guard scoffed.
