Nick stopped in his tracks and turned around stiffly, looking at the driver.
The driver's face was pale and bloodless, staring straight at Nick, and a few hoarse words squeezed out of his cracked lips: "You put in too many coins."
Nick secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said calmly, "It's okay, I have plenty of money."
The driver didn't say much more, closed the door, and started the bus.
There weren't many passengers on the bus. Besides the old man and the women and children who had boarded with Nick, there were four other passengers. Two were illusory and transparent ghosts, and two were solid entities.
One of the solid entities had a terrifying suture line down the middle of its face, and its head was covered with steel nails of various sizes. Obviously, this was a ghost.
The other solid entity was dressed in a suit, with a neat and capable build, a square face, and a slicked-back hairstyle.
He was staring out the window at the passing scenery, indifferent. Nick looked at him, and his heart trembled. A human aura!
Not a half-ghost, this man in a suit was a real person!
Nick, who possessed ghostly powers, could roughly distinguish between humans and ghosts.
A player from another area? Why wasn't he afraid to ride this ghost bus alone? Nick was shocked and puzzled.
The old man and the women and children who had just boarded also noticed that there was a human on the bus.
They sized up the man in the suit, then seemed to discover something, looking wary, and averted their gazes.
"Yiyiyaya, Mommy, I want it!" The ghost baby in the woman's arms stared at the man in the suit, as if seeing something fun, stretching out its little hands to grab him.
The woman held the baby's hands down, hugged it to her chest, and turned away, not giving it a chance to make a fuss.
"In the Horror World, there must be gameplay that I don't know about, or certain rules that I haven't touched upon," Nick thought to himself.
After all, this was his first time entering the Horror World, a real newbie player!
When he was on Earth, Nick had seen the news more than once. Those national-level veteran players could enter horror games at will, complete dungeons, and obtain rewards.
For them, who were experienced, horror games were not nightmares, but a dream world that provided them with benefits at any time.
"We newbies think about how to survive and go back every day, living in fear," he thought.
These veteran players had long grasped the essence of the game, effortlessly weaving through between the worlds of horror and reality," Nick sighed to himself as the bus pulled up to the stop.
"Blood Curse Cemetery is here. Please exit the bus in an orderly manner. The next stop is the Underworld Grand Hotel. Passengers getting off, please prepare!"
The man in the suit stood up. As he passed Nick, he glanced down at him, smiled, and then exited through the rear door.
"I've been found out," Nick said with a bitter smile, not particularly surprised.
This raincoat wasn't a high-level ghostly item. When encountering more powerful ghosts or humans, they could easily ignore it and see through Nick's true identity.
Over the next few stops, the passengers on the bus continued to change.
Fortunately, none of these ghosts had discovered Nick's identity as they passed by him.
Suddenly, Nick felt someone tugging at the hood of his raincoat.
He quickly grabbed hold of it and turned around to see the ghostly infant from the woman and child staring at his raincoat curiously, reaching out to tug at it again!
"Darling, be good," the woman gently stroked the ghostly infant's forehead but made no move to stop it.
Nick took out the Bone-Crushing Hammer, and black blood from the hammer dripped onto the seat.
"Control your child!" Nick growled in a low voice filled with killing intent and fierceness.
The woman was startled and seemed to realize that Nick was not someone to be trifled with. She quickly grabbed the ghostly infant's hand and sat back down.
Nick breathed a sigh of relief.
That was close.
He almost gave himself away!
Nick glanced at the bus stops. There were only two more stops until his destination.
He was anxious and increasingly uneasy. The more passengers on the bus, the more dangerous his situation became.
The next stop arrived.
Suddenly, more than half of the people on the bus got off, and the crowded interior instantly became deserted.
Nick breathed a sigh of relief.
His stop was next, and he would be basically safe...
Only one passenger got on, with long, wet hair dragging on the ground, a pale complexion that was frightening, and water dripping from their body.
The floor of the bus was instantly soaked in a large area.
The ghost driver didn't pay any attention and started the bus after closing the door.
"A water ghost," Nick stared at the ghost and guessed that it had probably drowned.
The water ghost didn't rush to find a seat. Instead, it sniffed the air and, with a terrifying face hidden under its wet hair, revealed a chilling smile. "I smell a rat!"
Nick's expression changed.
He suddenly looked up, and the water ghost's eyes were fixed on him.
Its mouth curved into a grin, its eyes revealing a strong greed, and its crimson tongue lolled out, dripping with saliva!
He had been found out!
Nick's body tensed up.
However, the water ghost didn't expose Nick. Instead, it found a seat and sat down, but its greedy eyes never left Nick, for fear that its prey would escape.
Five minutes later.
The bus arrived at the stop and came to a halt. Nick immediately stood up, preparing to get off.
The water ghost suddenly blocked Nick's path and sneered, "Sit back down!"
Nick looked at it coldly and said, "This is my stop." "I said sit back down, little mouse. Can't you understand what I'm saying?"
The words "little mouse" drew the attention of the passengers on the bus.
They all looked up, their gazes settling on Nick.
Nick's face darkened. It was clear that the water ghost had no intention of letting him go.
Under his raincoat, his fingers tightly gripped the bone-crushing hammer.
He wasn't afraid of the water ghost.
But if he attacked the water ghost on the bus, his identity would undoubtedly be exposed.
The ghost driver also turned to look at Nick and the water ghost. Then, it closed the rear door that had been opened.
Several passengers became restless.
They vaguely guessed what was happening.
A mouse had sneaked onto the bus!
"This is trouble. A sheep has fallen into a wolf's den." As the atmosphere on the bus gradually became tense, Nick's face also turned ugly.
The water ghost stared at Nick menacingly and said, "Mouse, I'll say it again, sit back down!"
Nick didn't move. Sitting back down wouldn't just mean missing his stop; he didn't dare to imagine what would happen next!
At this critical moment, the water ghost felt a tap on its shoulder. It turned its head and stared at the dark shadow behind it.
"He's mine," the dark shadow said expressionlessly.
"Yours? What proof do you..."
The water ghost sneered, but before it could finish speaking, the dark shadow suddenly raised its hand and grabbed the water ghost's face with its five fingers.
Sharp nails pierced into the water ghost's face, and black blood splattered.
Before the water ghost could resist, the moisture on its body rapidly evaporated, giving off steam. Immediately afterward, terrifying flames engulfed it, and its pale flesh charred and burned at a visible speed.
Amid a horrifying scream of agony, the water ghost burned into a charred corpse on the spot.
The dark shadow crushed the water ghost's head, and the headless corpse fell to the ground, shattering into pieces and turning into black charcoal.
The dark shadow looked at the ghost driver and said coldly, "Open the door."
A hint of fear flashed across the ghost driver's face as it opened the rear door of the bus.
Without giving Nick a chance to speak, the dark shadow pulled him off the bus.
