Chapter 21

The next day, I was busy preparing my resignation letter. I had just finished an exam and I was confident in my answers. I was sure I passed, so I submitted my resignation letter to leave this place after the next payday. It's only been a month, and I feel embarrassed in front of Mrs. Lee.

"Are you really sure about this, Cassidy? Your performance has been good. Mr. Van der Bilt has no complaints about you." I nodded at Mrs. Lee.

"Yes. Education is more important to me." She also nodded as if she understood my answer even though it was simple.

When I entered the lounge again that afternoon, I found Sophie crying, clutching a large bag. I ran to her to comfort her. For some unknown reason, I remembered my mom in her. I remembered how devastated Mom was when she found out she was the other woman. I was angry with Mom for allowing herself to be like that, but I still couldn't help but sympathize.
