Chapter 5

Asher returned to our cottage half a month later.

Clothes make the man, and his designer outfit made him look even more handsome.

He eagerly pushed open the door and called out:

"Aria, I'm back!"

Silence was his only response.

Asher began to panic. He searched every corner of the small house but couldn't find me.

He hurriedly dialed my number, only to hear a busy tone.

"Where could Aria be? Oh right, the surgery. Maybe she's still at the hospital..."

Asher flung open the door in a frenzy, and our eyes met.

I was surprised he had returned so early, and even more shocked to run into him while I was getting my luggage.

"Aria... where were you going?"

"Packing my bags. Why are you back so early?"

He scratched his head, not noticing anything off about my words:

"I came back to pack some stuff. Vivienne wants to go skiing on the North Face of Everest. It's way more thrilling than Niseko in Hokkaido."

Only then did it dawn on him.

"Why are you packing? Going on a trip?"
