That evening, Vivienne invited him out for French cuisine.
Asher, already displeased by Aria's talk of breaking up earlier in the day, readily accepted the invitation.
In the romantic restaurant, Vivienne sat across from him, dripping in jewels and finery. Her makeup was impeccable, yet for some reason, as Asher gazed at her face, he found himself thinking of sixteen-year-old Aria.
Her youthful face had been free of heavy makeup and calculation, filled only with adoration and fondness for him.
Noticing Asher's intense gaze, Vivienne giggled coquettishly:
"Why are you staring at me like that? Didn't you get enough of looking in Hokkaido?"
Asher snapped back to reality, mumbling a response. He ate the entire meal distractedly, his mind in turmoil even as Vivienne drove him home in her luxury car.
"Bye, Asher. We'll be heading to Everest soon, and you absolutely must give our company's ski gear a thorough review then, okay?"
