Chapter 34 – The unexpected war
The air around the eastern border was heavy with tension. The body of the rogue had been taken away, but the blood-stained ground remained — a grim reminder that war was on the horizon. Aria stood beside Damian, her hand gripping his tightly.
"They're getting bolder," Jaxon muttered, his sharp gaze scanning the dark forest beyond the border. "They're practically inviting us to retaliate."
"That's exactly what they want," Damian replied. His voice was cold, calculated. "But we're not rushing into a fight blind."
"You think there's more to this?" Aria asked.
"I know there is," Damian said grimly. "The Silver Fang pack doesn't make random moves. They've been quiet for years — too quiet. If they're targeting you now, there's a reason."
Aria's stomach twisted. "You think this has something to do with... my past?"
