Chapter 35 - Shadows of Betrayal
The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. Aurora stirred beneath the covers, her mind still tangled in the memories of the previous night. Damon's arms were wrapped tightly around her, his steady breathing brushing against her neck. For a moment, everything felt calm — as if their world wasn't crumbling around them.
But the peace didn't last long.
A sharp knock at the door broke the silence. Damon's eyes snapped open, and he immediately moved to sit up.
"Who is it?" he growled, his Alpha instincts flaring.
"It's Marcus," a voice called from the other side. "We have a problem."
Damon sighed, reluctantly pulling away from Aurora. "Stay here," he murmured, brushing a kiss on her forehead. "I'll handle this."
But Aurora wasn't about to sit back and wait. Throwing on a robe, she followed Damon to the door.
