The Gathering Storm

Chapter 36 - The Gathering Storm

Aurora sat by the fireplace in Damon's study, her fingers curling tightly around a cup of tea she barely remembered making. The heat seeped into her palms, but it couldn't drive away the cold that lingered in her chest.

Marcus's words kept replaying in her mind:

"They're already coming… and when they do… you won't survive."

The warning haunted her. She knew Marcus wasn't bluffing — the malice in his eyes had been too real. Whatever the rogues were planning, it was far bigger than a few stray attacks.

"You're still thinking about him."

Aurora jumped slightly as Damon entered the room. His hair was damp from a shower, and the bandage on his shoulder peeked out from beneath his shirt. He walked over, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"I can't stop," she admitted. "He wasn't just acting alone. Someone — or something — is pulling the strings. What if Marcus's warning was more serious than we thought?"
