Chapter 37 - Shadows in the Forest
The night air was cold and still, yet tension seemed to hum through the trees like a distant drumbeat. Aurora stood at the window of Damon's room, her eyes fixed on the darkened forest that surrounded the packhouse. The rogue attack had shaken everyone, but it was the unknown threats lurking in the shadows that truly unsettled her.
Damon had barely slept since the attack. He spent his nights strategizing with his warriors, determined to uncover what the rogues were planning. Aurora knew he was pushing himself too hard, but convincing him to rest felt impossible.
Tonight, however, Damon had fallen asleep at last — stretched across the bed, his face softened by rare peace. Aurora didn't want to wake him, yet her heart raced with unease. Something about the night felt... wrong.
