Chapter 32 Hulk's Protection

"Xi, do demons exist that can split a human into two?"

Banner looked at Xi Jinping expectantly, knowing this was the right question to ask him.

"They do," Xi nodded. Before this moment, she had already understood all the abilities of demons from Hell.

"Clan Demon, come forth."

Moments later, two identical demons appeared before them.

"Your Majesty, this is the Clone Demon. Its ability is duplication. As long as one exists, the other will not die. However, its flaw is that it can only split into one additional body," Xi explained.

Upon hearing this, Banner could hardly wait to sign a contract with the demon, but Chino reached out to stop him.

"Frank will be my butler, and Blonsky will be my subordinate. Banner, explain to me why I should help you."

"I will also be your subordinate. I have seven PhDs. That's much better than someone who only knows how to fight out of hatred!"

With the hope of finally escaping Hulk right in front of him, Banner was willing to seize anything that could help him achieve that.

Blonsky's mouth twitched. "Seven PhDs? Wow, truly impressive."

After thinking for a moment, Chino nodded in agreement.

Seeing Chino approve, Banner immediately rushed toward the Clone Demon, eagerly shouting, "Sign the contract right away!"

The Clone Demon spoke in unison, "The price of my power is that you will only be able to eat half of what you would normally consume in the future. Of course, you can have someone else eat the rest for you."

Learning from past lessons, Banner did not dare question the excessive cost.

"I agree!"

In an instant, a mysterious power surged. The contract was successful. A triangular pattern appeared on both of Banner's palms, glowing with an eerie light as if signifying the contract's power.

Banner took a deep breath and activated his newfound ability. It felt as if an invisible force was pulling at him. His hands instinctively stretched to both sides.

At that moment, he felt his body slowly splitting apart. An indescribable sensation of being torn apart spread throughout his entire being.

As Banner divided, he glanced to his right and saw a face identical to his own.

However, that face was filled with confusion. The other Banner stared into his eyes, seemingly understanding the situation, and suddenly roared.

"No!"

But just as he was about to successfully split, an overwhelming force grabbed hold of him, preventing him from continuing.

Then, without warning, a tremendous force yanked them both together, slamming the two Banners into each other uncontrollably.

With a loud "BANG," Banner felt dizzy from the impact. His body staggered backward before he fell to the ground, his face filled with pain and frustration.

Desperately, Banner turned his head and flailed his arms wildly, producing loud "PA" sounds as he struck the ground.

His eyes were bloodshot as he shouted in anger, "What is going on?! Come out!"

But no matter how hard he struggled or how furious he became, it was all in vain. Hulk would not come out.

"Banner, stop! Please!" Chino shouted.

Understanding that Hulk was refusing to separate from Banner, Chino's wrist lit up. For the first time, he used the Permission of Hell.

In Hell, he had the ability to extract souls at will.

With a wave of his hand, Banner's body collapsed motionlessly to the ground. His and Hulk's souls emerged, connected by a thin thread of silk. The thread glowed mysteriously, as if representing the complex and inseparable bond between them.

"This is truly fascinating. The soul contains two distinct wills," Xi remarked, slightly surprised. "No wonder he chose the Clone Demon."

"Couldn't it just be two different personalities? There aren't many people like that, but they do exist," Blonsky commented.

"A demon wouldn't mistake this for mere dual personalities," Xi replied. "Rather, it's more like two separate states of consciousness coexisting in the same body.

These cannot simply be classified as two souls or mere multiple personalities. Instead, they are in a unique state of symbiotic existence.

This kind of soul is rare in Hell. It's a type that even demons desire to collect," Xi sighed regretfully.

Blonsky glanced at the demon below, his eyes filled with greed every time he looked at Banner. If not for his master's presence, he would have charged forward already.

Banner, still in his soul form, stared at Hulk with rage and demanded, "Why did you stop me? Why did you appear? Why did you ruin my life?"

Despite holding seven PhDs and once being respected everywhere he went, the emergence of Hulk had cost him everything—his lover abandoned him, he lost his job and assets, and in the end, he was left with nothing.

"Banner… weak… dead… Hulk… strong… protect… separate… not possible… protect," Hulk muttered in fragmented sentences, his voice devoid of anger.

Banner's eyes widened in shock, his expression filled with disbelief.

He had never expected that to be the reason. He had always seen Hulk as the source of his misfortune, but he had never once considered the true intention behind Hulk's existence.

At that moment, Banner's anger dissipated like a flame extinguished by the wind, replaced by deep contemplation and confusion.

"Hulk, don't you want to go outside? To taste food, make friends, and experience everything in this world?"

"…Think… but… Banner… important," Hulk hesitated, a trace of desire flashing across his face.

"Actually, let me explain how the clone ability works," Chino said, beginning to elaborate.

Banner listened carefully, his gaze toward Hulk filled with complexity. It seemed that he had misunderstood Hulk for a long time.

"This way, you can protect Banner even better," Chino concluded.

"Hulk… cheating?"

"No."

"Hulk… agrees… separate," Hulk finally responded.

Seeing Hulk agree, Chino waved his hand, sending Banner and Hulk's souls back into their bodies.

Banner slowly stood up, took a deep breath, and used the cloning ability once more. This time, there was no resistance, and everything proceeded smoothly.

The invisible force within Banner resurfaced. This time, there were no unexpected pulls or blocks.

His body slowly split apart. Though the tearing sensation remained, Banner clenched his teeth and endured it.

Finally, Banner and Hulk successfully became two separate beings.

Though Banner stood there pale-faced, he couldn't hide his joy. Hulk stretched his body, his expression filled with excitement.

"Hulk, I'm sorry for misunderstanding you before," Banner said.

He never expected things to go this smoothly. All he had to do was have a proper conversation with Hulk.

Hulk looked at Banner and let out a hearty laugh. "Banner, it's okay."

From now on, their relationship would not be as bad as before.

Chino was also pleased to see the two of them standing together. "Buy one, get one free."

"Blonsky, you've been watching for a while. Have you made your choice?" Chino asked, turning to Blonsky with a questioning look.

Blonsky met Chino's gaze and declared firmly, "Master, the only thing I want is the strongest demon. Only the strongest power can defeat Hulk."
