Wang Guo

The man on the lead chasing was known as Wang Guo, he was an ordinary thug. He and his men had been out finding a mark when they had notice a little boy wondering the streets. The child was pretty and was extremely richly clad, they had thought he was out with his parents or guards but as he had observed he hadn't found any.

Now interested he had of course followed along not making a move. A thug who wanted to live long had to be cautious and know who to offend. As they had followed along they had seen Wu Tian enter the restaurant and talk to the hostess then leave. Determining that it wasn't his home they had followed along, though he could have sworn the hostess had given them a curious glance.

Wang Guo had finally determined that runt they were following was probably a brainless lad who had wandered from home. He looked to be from a rich household so if they could nab him and ask for ransom, the kids parents were bound to cough up a pretty sum. With that he could finally afford to t

oss with that wench Xia Hua, just imagining sinking his claws into her ravishing bosom made his breath quicken.

Who knew that just as things were about to finally fall in place, just as he could see Xia Hua's bosom another runt would ruin his good thing. He swore that when he caught that runt he would make him pay dearly.

And now he could see that the little runt was tiring, the difference in speed between the two was already significant, with the runt carrying a burden it wasn't even close. He felt confident that he could catch those runts before they emerged into the streets.

He got closer and closer, while the runts also got closer and closer to the street. The bigger runts speed had slowed down immensely but he was motivated when he saw the street was a few steps away.

He admired the bigger boy, even though he was almost certain to get away if he dropped the little boy he hadn't, and this won Wang Gou's admiration. Now this didn't mean he would punish the runt less he was still going to peel his skin and rip out his bones.

He was now only a step away from the two runts and with just a hand stretch, and just as he went to stretch his hand, his felt his feet his something. His heart clenched as he felt himself helplessly tumble to the ground. He wailed in his heart as for the second time he watched a cooked duck fly away.

His companions had slowed down to avoid trampling on him and this had given the boys the chance to emerge onto the streets. Wang Guo was a common street thug, he didn't have the guts to openly go out and chase and kidnap anyone. If he did the city guards would show him what's good.

Wu Tian felt exhausted, it wasn't due to the chase since he wasn't the one running. It was due to what happened. When they had neared the street they could feel Wang Guo practically on their back,

Wu Tian half expected the older boy to drop him and make a run for it but he hadn't and that realization had triggered a rage in Wu Tian. Not at anyone else but at himself and his recklessness.

But he had realized that rage was useless and at that moment he just wished for his savior's survival, and as if hearing his wish he had felt a ripple in his energy and his unique connection to the world had shifted. He had then heard Wang Gou's dismayed cry and a sound of a body tumbling and just like that they were home free.

They emerged onto the street, the boy panting heavily as the boy ran to the center of the street then found a store front and then plopped down heavily. He panted heavily, head down and put Wu Tian down a bit unceremoniously. Wu Tian didn't have time to feel disgruntled about this.

He was keeping a watchful eye to see whether the men had followed them. He also felt that his connection to the world had lessened. He was sure that Wang Gou's tumble had something to do with it.

He then looked at his shaking hands, although this wasn't his first brush with danger, it was the first where he had been so helpless and vulnerable. He reviewed his actions and realized he had been a bit too careless. He might be a bit smarter than others his age but his body was still a three year olds, he was helpless if any danger happened to come his way. He vowed to keep this incident in mind to remind himself not to get careless and overconfident.

Wu Tian then looked at the unknown boy beside him, he looked to be about 6 or 7, with a scrawny build and a greasy face. His eyes were hooded by tufts of unkempt hair that seemed to elude someone's attempt to keep in control. Those hooded eyes shone with a determination and weariness not commonly seen in one his age.

Wu Tian glanced at him again then said "Thank you for saving me. I would have been in a tough spot if not for you." The boy glanced at Wu Tian, a bit surprised at his maturity, he then nodded and said a bit tersely "Sister Lin said to make sure you were ok." Wu Tian was a bit baffled to hear this.

'Who's sister Lin?" The boy was similarly baffled. "You don't know sister Lin? She runs the restaurant at that street." Wu Tian immediately made the connection since he had only run into one such lady. He was thankful that he had otherwise he might be in a far more distraught situation now.

He looked around, his desire to explore quenched, now he just wanted to go home. He looked at the boy, "I'll be sure to thank her. My name is Wu Tian. What is your name?" The boy replied "I know, sister Lin told me, I'm Xiao Ren." Wu Tian nodded then tottered to his feet and looked around, seeing the unfamiliar streets he knew he had no hope of finding his way home. He looked at Xiao Ren, "do you know the way to the county lord's mansion?" Xiao Ren peered at him with a strange expression but then nodded.
