Aunt walked over with a bowl of porridge.
"What are you two talking about? Why aren't you coming inside?"
Serenity instinctively took half a step back, looking somewhat embarrassed. "Nothing."
I volunteered an explanation: "Aunt Carlisle felt awkward about not immediately accepting Uncle Harrington's offer, and asked me what she should do."
A fleeting shadow passed through Serenity's eyes as she stepped forward and grabbed my hand forcefully.
"Do you even know what you're saying? Are you that eager to push me away?"
The newly bandaged wound reopened due to her actions.
Stifling the intense pain, I smiled and asked her, "Don't you like Uncle Harrington? Then why didn't you just refuse him earlier?"
She was stunned.
Her eyes were filled with inner turmoil.
I couldn't help but laugh coldly to myself.
She clearly loved Nolan, so why was she coming to me now?
Did she think I was some kind of pushover?
