Chapter 7

"I've already divorced your mother."

"If you choose to come with me, you'll leave with me now, and you won't be allowed to see your grandmother or mother ever again."

"If you stay with your mother, don't try to find me in the future."

I steeled my heart as I said these words, then turned to leave with Ivy.

Ivy looked at me worriedly, not saying a word the entire time.

At this point, there was nothing she could say that would be appropriate.

In the evening, I dropped Ivy off and checked into a hotel for the night.

Today's events were more intense than the sum of my entire life for the past decade.

Unable to sleep, I began working on my startup plans.

Suddenly, a video call from Melody came through. I hung up, but she called again.

It's worth noting that I had never before actively hung up on Melody.

Nor had Melody ever called a second time if I didn't answer the first.

Because she was confident that as soon as I saw it, I would call her back immediately.
