Chapter 11: Jealousy and Sweet Teasing

The festival had left a lasting warmth in my heart, but the next school day brought an unexpected surprise. As we entered the classroom, a group of boys hovered around Mahiru, all trying to talk to her at once.

I wasn't surprised—after all, she was the star of the festival, and everyone wanted a chance to talk to the school's angel.

Still, that didn't stop the small spark of jealousy igniting in my chest.

I sighed, slumping into my seat. Mahiru, as always, handled the situation gracefully, giving polite responses but keeping a respectful distance. It wasn't until she noticed my gaze that she excused herself and walked over to me.

"Amane?" she asked softly, tilting her head. "Is something wrong?"

I scoffed, averting my gaze. "Why would anything be wrong?"

Mahiru studied me for a moment before a small smile graced her lips. "Are you perhaps… jealous?"

I nearly choked. "W-What? No way."

She giggled, leaning slightly closer. "You're adorable when you sulk."

I groaned, burying my face in my arms as she laughed softly beside me. Maybe a little jealousy wasn't so bad after all.
