Just when I thought life had settled into a comfortable rhythm, a new problem arose—a transfer student named Ryuji Kisaragi. Tall, confident, and charismatic, he immediately made waves upon his arrival.
And, of course, he took an immediate interest in Mahiru.
"I've heard about you," Ryuji said, casually approaching Mahiru. "You really are as stunning as they say."
Mahiru, as always, remained composed. "Thank you, but I don't think I'm as remarkable as the rumors claim."
Ryuji smirked. "Modest too, huh? That makes you even more interesting."
I clenched my fists beneath my desk. Was this guy seriously trying to flirt with her?
"Amane," Mahiru's voice called gently. "Shall we go home?"
I blinked. Mahiru stood beside me, her usual warm smile on her lips as if she hadn't even registered Ryuji's advances.
Ryuji chuckled. "I see. You've already got someone special, huh?"
Mahiru didn't confirm or deny it, simply taking my hand as we left the classroom. I exhaled, feeling a mixture of relief and pride.
Yeah. She was mine.
