Valentine's Day had arrived, and I was trying my best to act normal. I knew Mahiru had been working on something, but she remained secretive about it.
Finally, as we sat in my room that evening, she shyly handed me a small, neatly wrapped box.
"I… I made this for you," she murmured.
I unwrapped the box, revealing beautifully handcrafted chocolates in the shape of tiny hearts. They were carefully arranged, and I could see the effort she had put into making them.
"You made these?" I asked, astonished.
She nodded hesitantly. "I wanted to make something special for you."
I picked one up and took a bite. The moment the rich chocolate melted on my tongue, I knew—this was the best thing I had ever tasted.
"They're amazing," I said honestly. "Just like you."
She covered her face with her hands. "You're embarrassing me, Amane."
I laughed, reaching for her hands. "I love them. And I love you."
She peeked at me between her fingers, her lips curling into a happy smile. "I love you too."
