When a Filipino got Isekai'd with a twist!
"Only I can summon those!"
Chapter 22: campfire into another world!
As the group piled into the military jeep, Keith took the driver's seat, feeling a rush of excitement. The engine roared to life, and he could feel the power of the vehicle beneath him. Grath settled into the passenger seat, his massive frame barely fitting, while Lirael and Kariel took the back, with Sir Alaric occupying the seat next to Grath.
"Let's see what this baby can do!" Grath said, a grin spreading across his face.
"So, sir hero, how does this big chunk of metal move without a horse? Garth asks.
"Well, this is a mechanized vehicle that runs using fuel that can be found thousands of feet underground. And there's no magic involved in it, and that's the beauty of this thing. This won't need a horse or anything to pull it. It simply runs faster than a horse without needing to stop, and with the added benefit that it's comfortable to sit inside." Keith grinned, his enthusiasm infectious. He shifted the gear into drive and pressed the accelerator, the jeep lurching forward with a jolt. The tires kicked up dust as they sped down the rugged path, the landscape blurring past them.
"Faster than a horse, huh?" Lirael shouted from the back, her voice barely audible over the roar of the engine. "Let's see if it can handle the hills!
"Hold on tight!" Keith called back, his eyes gleaming with mischief. He veered the jeep sharply to the left, heading toward a steep incline that loomed ahead. The vehicle climbed the slope with surprising ease, the engine growling as it tackled the terrain.
"Impressive!" Sir Alaric remarked, his stern demeanor softening as he watched the scenery rush by. "But let's not forget that speed can lead to recklessness."
"Recklessness is my middle name!" Grath laughed, slapping the dashboard. "Just don't break anything important, Keith!"
As they crested the hill, the view opened up before them—a vast expanse of forest and mountains stretching as far as the eye could see. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the landscape.
"Wow," Kariel breathed, leaning forward to take in the sight. "It's beautiful out here. And it's comfortable here even though the road is bumpy."
"Just wait until we hit the open road," Keith said, his voice filled with anticipation. "This is just the beginning."
With a determined grin, he pressed down on the accelerator even more, the jeep roaring forward as they raced down the other side of the hill. The wind whipped through their hair, and laughter filled the air as they embraced the thrill of the ride. As they reach a lake, they decide to camp there for the night.
The jeep came to a halt at the edge of the shimmering lake, the water reflecting the colors of the sunset like a mirror. Keith turned off the engine, and the sudden silence was a stark contrast to the roar they had just experienced. The group climbed out, stretching their limbs and taking in the serene beauty around them. As Garth and Lariel are catching fish for their dinner,
"Hey, Grath! Think you can catch enough fish for everyone?" Keith called out, glancing over his shoulder at the two who were knee-deep in the water, their focus intense.
"Just you wait!" Grath replied, his voice booming with confidence. "I'll have enough fish to feed an army!"
Lirael, sitting on a nearby rock, chuckled. "An army of one, maybe. Just don't scare them all away with that loud mouth of yours!"
"Here, our hero, we catch fish as you wish, Garth said enthusiastically.
"So , sir hero you know how to cook?" Kariel ask but Keith just give them a smirk and pulls out a stove from his system item shop and some condiments and starts preparing their food.
The aroma of sizzling food soon filled the air, mingling with the fresh scent of pine and the earthy smell of the lake. Keith expertly set up the portable stove, a marvel of modern convenience that seemed almost out of place in the wild. He had stocked up on supplies before they left, and now he was eager to show off his culinary skills.
As the sun dipped lower, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, Kariel joined Keith at the stove, her curiosity piqued. "What are you making?" she asked, peering into the pot.
"Just a little something I like to call 'campfire stew,'" Keith said with a wink. "It's got vegetables, some spices, and whatever fish Grath and Lirael manage to catch. It's a crowd-pleaser!"
"And to be honest, sir hero, at first we didn't believe in your ability because a summoner like you can't do things that you're doing right now, but seeing you doing this firsthand is mind-blowing: a summoner that can summon weird things and can go toe to toe with a demon lieutenant and also can cook is a pretty amazing sight."
Keith chuckled, a hint of pride swelling in his chest. "Well, I like to keep people on their toes. Just because I can summon weapons from my world doesn't mean I can't handle a few other skills. Besides, cooking is just another form of magic, isn't it? You take a little of this, a little of that, and create something wonderful."
Kariel nodded, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "I suppose you're right. It's all about balance and knowing how to mix things together. Just like in battle, you need the right combination to succeed."
"Exactly!" Keith replied, stirring the pot with a wooden spoon. "And just like in our adventures, we need to work together to make the best of any situation. Whether it's cooking or fighting, teamwork is key."
As the stew simmered, Grath and Lirael returned from the lake, their arms laden with a decent catch of fish. "Look at these beauties!" Grath exclaimed, holding up a couple of glistening trout. "I told you I'd feed an army!"
"More like a small village," Lirael teased, rolling her eyes but smiling nonetheless. "But they'll do just fine."
"Perfect timing!" Keith said, gesturing for them to come closer. "I was just about to add the fish to the stew. Fresh catch always makes for the best flavor."
With a flourish, he tossed the fish into the bubbling pot, the sizzling sound mingling with the gentle lapping of the lake against the shore. The aroma intensified, drawing everyone closer, their mouths watering in anticipation.
"Now, while that cooks, how about we set up camp?" Sir Alaric suggested, his authoritative tone cutting through the excitement. "We'll need a fire for warmth and light once the sun sets."
"Good idea, Sir Alaric," Keith agreed, wiping his hands on a towel. "I'll finish up here, and you guys can gather some firewood."
"Well, I got sleeping bags and a tent if you want," Keith asked them and opened his summon window and selected buy for the said item for all of them.
The tent and sleeping bags materialized in a flash of light, landing softly on the ground beside Keith. He grinned at the surprised expressions on his companions' faces. "See? Just another little trick up my sleeve," he said, gesturing to the gear.
"Impressive," Sir Alaric said, nodding in approval. "It seems you've thought of everything, Keith."
"Just trying to make sure we're comfortable out here," Keith replied, turning back to the pot. The stew was bubbling away, and the scent was becoming irresistible. "Now, who wants to help me set up the tent?"
"I'll help!" Kariel volunteered, her enthusiasm infectious. "I've set up tents before. It'll be fun!"
"Count me in too," Lirael added, hopping off her rock. "I can hold the poles while you two figure out the rest."
"Alright, let's do this!" Keith said, feeling a surge of camaraderie. As they worked together, Grath and Sir Alaric gathered firewood, their laughter echoing through the trees.
The trio quickly set up the tent, their teamwork making the task easier than expected. Within minutes, the tent stood tall and sturdy, ready for the night ahead.
"Looks great!" Keith said, stepping back to admire their handiwork. "Now, let's get that fire going."
Grath and Sir Alaric returned with an armful of firewood, and soon they had a crackling fire going, its warm glow illuminating the area as the sun dipped below the horizon. The sky transformed into a canvas of stars, twinkling brightly against the deepening blue.
"Dinner's almost ready!" Keith called out, stirring the pot once more. "Just a few more minutes, and we'll feast like kings!"
"Speaking of kings," Grath said, plopping down on a log near the fire, "what's the plan for tomorrow? We can't just sit around here all day, can we?"
"Well, head to the dwarven kingdom first day in the morning; we need to go there as fast as we can. But by my estimate, we're ahead of our scheduled meeting with King Youm, so it's fine for us to sightsee. How about it?" Keith asks.
"Sightseeing sounds great!" Lirael chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I've heard the dwarven kingdom is filled with incredible architecture and fascinating history. I can't wait to see it for myself!"
"Just remember to keep your hands to yourself," Sir Alaric warned, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Dwarves can be quite particular about their treasures."
"Don't worry, Sir Alaric," Kariel said, her voice teasing. "I'll make sure Lirael doesn't try to steal any shiny things."
"I know, we can go and watch their gladiator match I hear they having a match each and every week so we're on time on their ship." Kieth said while looking at his phone for information about the gladiator battles.
"How did you know about that, Sir Hero? Did someone tell you about it? Kariel asked him.
"Ow, about that I have this" (pointing at his phone). This device of mine can show info about something I'm searching." He explains.
"Wait, you mean to tell me that little gadget can give you information about anything?" Grath asked, his eyes wide with curiosity. "That's incredible! What else can it do?"
Keith chuckled, enjoying the attention. "Well, it can show maps, weather forecasts, and even recipes. It's like having a library in my pocket. I can look up just about anything we need."
"Can it tell you how to catch more fish?" Lirael joked, nudging Grath with her elbow. "Because I think we could use some tips!"
"Hey, I caught these!" Grath protested, puffing out his chest. "And I'll catch more tomorrow, just you wait!"
"Alright, alright, let's not start a fish war," Keith laughed, stirring the pot again. "Dinner is almost ready, and I think we should focus on enjoying our meal first."
As the stew finished cooking, Keith ladled generous portions into bowls, the steam rising and filling the air with mouthwatering aromas. "Dig in, everyone!" he announced, handing out the bowls.
The group gathered around the fire, the warmth enveloping them as they settled in for their meal. The first taste of the stew brought smiles to their faces, the combination of fresh fish, vegetables, and spices creating a delightful flavor.
"This is amazing, Keith!" Kariel exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "You really outdid yourself!"
"Yeah, who knew a summoner could cook like this?" Lirael added, her mouth full. "You might just have to take over the cooking duties from now on!"
"Don't get too used to it," Keith replied with a grin. "I can't promise I'll always have a portable stove on hand. But I'm glad you all like it!"
As they ate, the conversation flowed easily, stories of past adventures and dreams for the future mingling with laughter and camaraderie. The stars twinkled overhead, and the crackling fire provided a comforting backdrop to their gathering. As the last of the stew was devoured and the bowls set aside, the group settled into a comfortable silence, the sounds of the crackling fire and the gentle lapping of the lake creating a soothing atmosphere. The stars above twinkled like diamonds scattered across a velvet sky, and the moon cast a silvery glow over the landscape.
"Alright, everyone," Sir Alaric said, breaking the peaceful quiet. "We've had a long day, and we need our rest for tomorrow's journey. Let's make sure we're ready for whatever awaits us in the dwarven kingdom."
"Agreed," Keith said, stifling a yawn. "We'll need our energy for the sightseeing and the gladiator matches. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us!"
Grath, already reclining on a log, nodded in agreement. "I'm ready to see some real action! Those dwarves know how to put on a show."
As they prepared for bed, Keith and Kariel worked together to organize the sleeping bags inside the tent, while Lirael and Grath gathered the last of the firewood to keep the fire burning a little longer. Sir Alaric stood watch, his keen eyes scanning the surroundings, ensuring their camp remained safe through the night.
Once the tent was set up and everyone was settled in, Keith turned off the portable stove and extinguished the fire, leaving only a few glowing embers. "Goodnight, everyone," he called softly, pulling his sleeping bag around him. "Tomorrow is going to be an adventure."
"Goodnight, Keith," Kariel replied, her voice warm and friendly. "Thanks for everything today."
"Yeah, thanks for the food and the ride!" Lirael added, her voice fading as she nestled into her sleeping bag.
"Sleep tight, you lot," Grath said, his voice muffled as he rolled over. "I'll catch more fish tomorrow, just you wait!"
As the night deepened, the sounds of nature enveloped them—the rustling of leaves, the distant call of an owl, and the gentle ripple of the lake. One by one, the group drifted off to sleep, lulled by the serenity of the wilderness.
The first light of dawn broke through the trees, casting a soft glow over the campsite. Keith stirred awake, the warmth of the sun on his face coaxing him from his dreams. He stretched, feeling the stiffness in his limbs from the previous day's excitement, but a smile crept onto his face as he remembered the adventures that lay ahead.
"Rise and shine, everyone!" he called, his voice cheerful. "Time to get moving!"
One by one, his companions emerged from their sleeping bags, yawning and rubbing their eyes. Grath was the first to sit up, his hair tousled and a goofy grin plastered on his face. "Did I miss breakfast?" he asked, looking around expectantly.
"Not yet, but I'll whip something up," Keith replied, already reaching for his portable stove. "How about some breakfast stew to start the day?"
"Sounds perfect!" Lirael said, her eyes lighting up at the thought of food. "I could use some energy for our adventure."
As Keith set to work, the others began to pack up their gear, folding sleeping bags and dismantling the tent. Sir Alaric took charge of organizing their supplies, ensuring everything was in order for their journey.
"Once we finish breakfast, we should head out early," Sir Alaric suggested. "The sooner we reach the dwarven kingdom, the more time we'll have to explore."
"Agreed," Kariel chimed in, her excitement palpable. "I can't wait to see the architecture and the gladiator matches!"
With breakfast simmering on the stove, the group shared stories and laughter, the camaraderie from the previous night still fresh in their minds. The aroma of the stew filled the air, and soon they were gathered around the stove, bowls in hand, ready to dig in.
"This is delicious, Keith!" Kariel exclaimed after her first bite. "You really have a talent for this."
"Thanks! I'm glad you all enjoy it," Keith replied, feeling a sense of pride swell within him. "Cooking is just another way to bring us together."
After breakfast, they quickly finished packing up their campsite, ensuring they left no trace behind. With everything loaded into the jeep, Keith took the driver's seat once more, the engine roaring to life as they prepared to hit the road.
"Ready for an adventure?" he asked, glancing back at his friends, who were all wearing eager expressions.
"Absolutely!" Grath shouted, pumping his fist in the air. "Let's go!"
With a grin, Keith shifted the jeep into gear and pressed the accelerator, the vehicle lurching forward as they set off down the winding path toward the dwarven kingdom. The thrill of the journey ahead filled the air, and laughter echoed through the jeep as they embraced the excitement of the day.
As they drove, the landscape transformed around them, the rugged terrain giving way to rolling hills and lush forests. The sun climbed higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over the world, and the group felt a sense of freedom and adventure that only the open road could provide. But as they go deep into the forest, Keith's phone vibrates and sounds an alarm, so he quickly stops the jeep and summons his M4A1 gun, his instincts kicking in as he scans the surroundings. The peaceful ambiance of the forest suddenly felt charged with tension.
"What's going on?" Grath asked, his voice low as he leaned forward, peering out the windshield.
"I'm not sure," Keith replied, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the screen of his phone. A notification flashed, indicating a potential threat nearby. "It looks like there's some kind of disturbance up ahead. We might not be alone out here."
"Should we turn back?" Lirael suggested, her voice tinged with concern.
"No," Sir Alaric said firmly, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "We need to assess the situation. If there's trouble, we can't just run away. We need to be prepared."
"Ready yourself; here they come!" Kieth said, and multiple people landed around them dressed in black. The sudden appearance of the figures in black sent a jolt of adrenaline through the group. Keith's heart raced as he tightened his grip on the M4A1, his instincts screaming that they were in for a fight. The figures moved with a fluid grace, their dark clothing blending seamlessly with the shadows of the forest. As one of the man in black dashes at Kieth but Kieth react fast and able to bash the head of the attacker with the back of his gun that made him stagger as he continue with a round house kick that send that man flying in the near by tree.
The impact of the kick echoed through the forest, and the man in black crumpled against the tree, momentarily stunned. Keith's heart raced as he quickly assessed the situation. The remaining figures, now alerted to their presence, began to close in, their eyes glinting with malice.
" Get ready, they were Demons assassins" as he say that the status window of that demon appears.
