Chapter 92: This Mountain Is Mine!

---

On the way out of the village—

Jiraiya hovered around Naruto excitedly, his eyes gleaming with admiration.

"Naruto! Come on, teach me that technique!" he demanded eagerly.

Boom!

Jiraiya flew back from a well-placed punch. Tsunade glared at him, veins bulging. "Shut up, you idiot! How the hell am I on a team with you?!"

Orochimaru chuckled darkly, while Naruto simply raised his hands in surrender, indicating he had nothing to do with this mess.

"This is the Land of Fields," Tsunade noted as they traveled further.

"Man, I feel so uninspired." Jiraiya groaned, lying down in the carriage. "I thought we'd get attacked by wild bandits or something. I was looking forward to showing off."

"Are you an idiot?" Tsunade deadpanned, her face twitching with irritation. "We're on a C-rank escort mission! Why the hell would there be that many bandits?!"

Before she could finish her rant, a group of ragged men armed with pickaxes and rusted axes suddenly jumped onto the road. Their bodies were thin and malnourished, their faces worn from hardship.

The Sannin instantly tensed, pulling out kunai in caution.

"Jiraiya, you bastard! You jinxed us!" Tsunade growled, glaring at him.

"I didn't think I'd be this accurate..." Jiraiya muttered, scratching his head. "Though, looking at them, I'm not even sure they're real bandits."

Before he could analyze further, one of the so-called bandits stepped forward and shouted:

"I own this mountain! I cut down these trees! If you wanna pass, you better pay the toll!"

Jiraiya blinked. "Oh... so they actually are bandits." He cracked his knuckles. "Alright, time to shine! Watch and learn—"

Before he could make a move, the caravan leader raised his hand, stopping them.

"How much?" he asked plainly.

"1000 ryō!" the lead bandit responded.

Jiraiya and the others nearly fell over. What kind of broke-ass bandits are these?!

Without hesitation, the caravan leader tossed a pouch of coins at them. The bandits quickly counted, then nodded approvingly.

In perfect unison, they stepped aside, bowing respectfully. "Boss, we welcome you to pass through again next time!"

The Sannin: …

Naruto couldn't hold back his laughter. "Pfft! What the hell?! Are they bandits or customer service reps?!"

The caravan leader sighed. "They're just local villagers. During the off-season, they cut trees and build roads, charging passing caravans for their labor."

Naruto snickered. "So... they're charging a toll. Damn, I respect the hustle."

Jiraiya slumped over. "Lame… I was hoping for something exciting…"

"Idiot!" Tsunade whacked him upside the head. "The safer a mission, the better! If you keep wanting to fight, the employer will hate you!"

Orochimaru, smirking, glanced at Naruto. "Still, it's surprising Lord Third allowed all four of us to leave the village together. Naruto-kun, you must hold a lot of weight in his eyes."

"Hah! Please." Jiraiya scoffed, puffing out his chest. "It's obviously because of me. I impressed Sensei, so he let you guys tag along."

Boom! Another punch landed on his head.

---

The countryside of the Land of Fields was peaceful, the sun shining brightly over rolling terraced fields.

"What a quiet, beautiful place," Tsunade sighed in appreciation.

"Hey! Tsunade! Let's play 'Fight the Landlord!'" Naruto suddenly called out.

"Oh-ho! This time, I'm wiping the floor with you guys!" Tsunade grinned, cracking her knuckles.

Moments later, she was dragging a whimpering Jiraiya by the collar, shaking him. "You bastard! Give me my money back!"

"Ack! Okay, okay! Take it easy!"

After completing their mission, the group arrived at the heart of the Land of Fields.

The once-busy streets of the town were eerily empty, the buildings looking rundown and abandoned.

"What the hell?" Tsunade frowned. "Where is everyone? I wanted to hit up a casino!"

Naruto sighed. "First Hokage's descendant, ladies and gentlemen…"

Jiraiya suddenly perked up, sniffing the air. "Wait! No, someone's here! I can smell perfume and powder!" His eyes gleamed. "Sensei isn't here to stop me this time! Hahahaha—"

Boom!

Tsunade dragged his unconscious body into an inn.

---

"I don't like this…" Tsunade muttered, glancing around the abandoned buildings. "It feels like someone's watching us."

"No, it's not just a feeling," Orochimaru said, narrowing his eyes. "They are watching us."

"Meh, whatever! First, food! Then, gambling!" Tsunade declared, marching forward.

A while later, they sat at a table, staring blankly at the bill.

"Hey, Orochimaru… am I seeing things, or are there too many damn zeroes?" Jiraiya asked, his expression stiff.

Orochimaru remained silent.

"Oi! Are you scamming us?!" Tsunade slammed the shopkeeper into the counter. "200,000 ryō for this shitty meal?!"

The shopkeeper smirked, rang a small bell on his waist, and bolted out the door.

Immediately, the inn was surrounded by a gang of rough-looking men wielding swords, axes, and clubs.

The shopkeeper sneered. "If you want to live, leave all your valuables behind! And that sexy little lady? Stay here with us!" He cackled. "Come on, Uncle will take real good care of you—"

Jiraiya and Naruto silently took two steps away from Tsunade.

As expected—

Boom!

The shopkeeper went flying through the wall, leaving a human-shaped hole.

"Dumbass!" Tsunade huffed. "If you wanna run a business, at least don't be a scam artist."

"Well, the Land of Fields does have a weak Daimyō," Orochimaru said coolly. "Even though he's powerless, he keeps provoking wars. The shinobi here have been forced into banditry."

"Tch. And people complain about Konoha," Jiraiya scoffed.

Just then, a spider suddenly crawled onto Tsunade's shoulder.

"AHHH!"

In an instant, she dove into Naruto's arms.

Jiraiya burst out laughing. "Hah! Afraid of a little spider? Tsunade, you're pathetic!"

"Shut up!" Orochimaru snapped, eyes dark. "Look ahead."

Before them, countless spiders formed a writhing wall, webbing blocking the entire road.

A voice echoed around them: "My child led me here with its thread. What luck! Not only do we have a caravan, but Konoha shinobi as well! Hahaha!"

Orochimaru smirked. "Kūchū Shinchū no Jutsu… A technique that scatters sound, hiding numbers and positions."

Suddenly, the ground trembled. A swirling vortex of sand appeared beneath them.

"Ninpō—Ari Jigoku no Jutsu!"

Orochimaru called out. "Tsunade!"

"Got it!"

Lifting a massive boulder, she hurled it at the vortex's center.

"NANI?!" The enemy leapt out.

Jiraiya grinned. "Now, let's finish this."

"Ninja Art : Shurikin Whatever Jutsu!" Jiraiya took out a bunch of shuriken and hurled them in all directions.

Orochimaru swiftly formed hand seals: "Ninja Art: Shadow Shuriken Jutsu!"

The shuriken thrown by Jiraiya instantly multiplied in midair.

"What?!" The enemy hiding in the grass was startled and leaped up.

At that moment, Tsunade, who had been waiting for her chance, grinned. "You're mine!"

In an instant, she hurled three massive boulders at the enemy trio, sending them flying with a deafening crash.

Naruto watched with amusement. "Tsk tsk, as expected of the Legendary Sannin. Their teamwork is insane—they took out Chūnin in seconds."

"Wahaha! Now you see how strong I am!" Jiraiya boasted proudly.

Boom! A fist met his head, sending him crashing to the ground. Tsunade's enraged voice echoed.

"Idiot! You almost hit me!!"
