The Weight of Evolution & A Date to Remember

Floating right above Kaela's head were words that almost shocked Seraphina's soul out of her body.

< Would you like to see this individual's evolution requirements?

"Wife…did you get another wish or something?" Kaela asked curiously.

Seraphina was so shocked by what she was seeing that she barely registered the question. "Hm? No, why?"

"You look different again."

The elf raised a brow in confusion as she gingerly slipped away from Miriel and moved towards the mirror on the other side of her room.

When she saw her new appearance, she couldn't help but let out a low impressed whistle.

One of her eyes was now a bright purple, and her perfectly muscular body was now covered in intricate demonic tattoos.

'I thought I'd have another drastic change to explain to everyone again, but this is fine.' This wouldn't be quite as hard to explain as anything she'd done yesterday, so she was a little more relaxed than normal.

Plus, she'd always wanted tattoos in her last life, but she simply never had the money.

Seraphina finally noticed that Kaela hadn't stopped staring at her ever since she'd woken up.

She began to worry slightly that these changes didn't suit her.

"Ah…how do I look?"

"Powerful.. your aura feels completely different now."

Kaela slipped out of the bed and rested her hand against Seraphina's cheek as she stared deeply into her new mismatched eyes.

"Your eyes are beautiful, my love."

For the first time, Seraphina felt a blush spread on her cheeks and an embarrassing warmth spread through her chest.

As someone who had never received a compliment on her appearance before, Kaela's attack had hit her in kind of a weird place.

She didn't know what to say, so instead she took Kaela's hand and placed a tender kiss on it.

"Mmm morning guys.." Suddenly, Miriel rose out of the bed and sleepily rubbed her eyes.

'She's so cute in the morning...' Seraphina thought.

'Fufufu~ She still has drool on her lips.' Kaela giggled.

Seraphina finally pulled her attention away from Miriel's face long enough to notice the same words floating above her head.

< Would you like to see this individual's evolution requirements?

'Yes.'

< Miriel Izanami Darken >

< Evolution Path : Mother of Aži Dahāka (Zahhak) (Unique Species)

< First stage conditions

- Ingest 200 different kinds of poison. (0/200)

- Gain a Serpent/dragon type familiar.

- Take revenge on a being who's wronged you.

'Aži Dahāka ?… Where have I heard that name before...?'

She felt like it was important, yet she couldn't remember why…

'I'll just think on it later.' She thought with a shrug.

As Seraphina quickly read her wife's conditions, she sighed when she realized only the second condition would be easy.

Naturally, she wasn't at all keen about her wife needing to swallow poison.

Remembering her timid and frail personality, she couldn't see her taking revenge on anyone either.

Though maybe this would be exactly what she'd need to overcome her shyness?

"Wife..did you change again?" Miriel was now fully awake and had realized her husband looked different from last night.

"It was a surprise to me too." Seraphina said with a nod. "Do you like it?"

"You look even more handsome than before." She immediately slipped out of bed and joined Kaela to hug her.

"Doesn't she?" Kaela giggled.

'I don't know if I'll ever get used to hearing that..' Seraphina thought with a bitter smile.

Knock, Knock, Knock!

Hearing a knock at the door, the trio's lovey-dovey atmosphere was immediately broken.

Seraphina kissed both girls on their forehead before she went to open the door.

Standing outside were Magnus and a few dozen maids, each holding an armful of clothes.

"Ah, good morning, Young Mistress. I've procured some clothes that take into account your.. recent… growth spurt.." The old man's voice gradually trailed off as he noticed Seraphina had changed yet again within one night.

'Well, at least the young mistress does not appear to have grown again...' He would be quite frustrated if all the work he'd done to procure Seraphina a new wardrobe ended up being for nothing.

Seraphina sighed before turning around to see that both of her wives were properly covered before she let everyone in the room.

Seraphina didn't notice, but all of the maids had begun to give her lustful looks as well.

Though Kaela and Miriel certainly did.

Two possessive and hate-filled glares were more than enough to send the appropriate message.

As Seraphina watched the now fearful maids lay out the clothes on her bed, she immediately noticed a pattern that made her head hurt.

Stuffy. Pompous. Uncomfortable. Shiny.

Those were the only words she could think of to describe the clothes Duke had chosen for her.

All of them looked egregiously expensive, but that did not make them look any more appealing to her.

"Are any of these clothes to your liking?" magnus asked proudly, already knowing the answer.

These clothes came from the finest shops in Antares!

Naturally, anyone would-

"No." Seraphina said flatly.

"I... what?"

While Duke was still reeling from shock, Seraphina's eyes landed on some items that she did not find unbearable.

The first was a simple, long black robe that looked incredibly soft to the touch.

Next to it were a pair of basic pants and a golden ceremonial necklace made out of fenris teeth.

"Old man, I appreciate the gesture but all of this is too much. Just bring me things like this, okay?"

Duke opened and closed his mouth several times before nodding in defeat.

"If this is truly all that you require, then I will return everything else." Duke said, bewildered that his young mistress was acting rather distant and aloof.

"Thank you." Seraphina said politely as she headed towards the door.

Now that she had clothes, Seraphina could start getting ready for the day.

Realizing she was heading towards the bath, Kaela and Miriel hurriedly ran to follow her, leaving Duke to wonder just what had become of his young mistress.

-

This morning taught Seraphina a few things.

1. Kaela is quite playful in the bath.

2. Miriel is quite shy in the bath.

3. She could only see the evolution requirements of beings who've either yet to evolve or only evolved once.

She couldn't see Duke's requirements earlier, nor her mother's at breakfast.

Leaving her to form the inescapable conclusion that her ability to see evolution requirements was sort of proficiency-based, and she would only be able to see the conditions of higher-evolved beings when she had evolved herself.

"Are you ready, wife?" Miriel asked.

"Of course."

Right now, Seraphina and her first wife were about to head into the city for an impromptu date.

Earlier in the bath, both girls proclaimed they wanted to have her to themselves for a day, and Miriel had won the game of Rock Paper Scissors to decide who got to go first.

Kaela was a bit disappointed with her loss, but once Seraphina asked if she'd like to visit a dungeon tomorrow, her mood was immediately lifted.

Luckily, Seraphina's second wife was a furry little battle maniac who would hopefully make her task of clearing dungeons just a little bit easier.

'I wonder if I should tell the girls about their own conditions...'

"Pokeeee."

Seraphina was jolted from her thoughts by her wife's long thin finger in her cheek. "Miriel?"

"You've been staring into space for a while, is there something on your mind?"

Seraphina smiled helplessly and shook her head.

"Nothing important, my wife."

"Alright... If you don't want to go out then we can-"

"Miriel, you don't need to worry. I want to spend time with you." She said reassuringly.

The young witch blushed furiously as she immediately felt her worries lessen considerably. "Okay... I'll believe you."

As the pair walked to the exit of the castle, Seraphina couldn't help but stare continuously at Miriel.

She was gorgeous in every sense of the word.

Today, she wore a black sleeveless dress that exposed parts of her torso underneath and hugged her body deliciously.

Her arms and fingers were decorated with golden bands and rings that were inscribed with runes and emanated a faint magic power.

She's the type of woman Seraphina wouldn't have even been allowed to breathe around in her last life.

The longer she experienced her warmth and light, the more desperate she became to make sure that she never lost it.

As the guards opened the door for the young couple, they were immediately welcomed outside by the warmth of the morning sun.

Waiting outside was an elaborate carriage with a gold and red design bearing the emblem of a dragon on top of a mountain.

With two pitch-black, muscular horses at the front, Seraphina was absolutely certain that they would stick out quite a bit riding in this.

It was a good thing she refused the escort of the guards, or the spectacle would have been even worse.

As the two climbed into the carriage, Seraphina finally realized she was going out with someone for the first time.

'Fuck... What are you supposed to do on a date anyway?!'
