Chapter 45

Alpha's piercing glare locked onto Eve as he watched the evil thing eating his food peacefully, after leaving his desires hungry.

However, his stern expression softened when his eyes landed on Eve's puffy cheeks, filled with a mouthful of delicious food Alpha had specially ordered for him. Eve felt an uneasy gaze drilling holes in his face, and looking up, his cheeks burned when he found Alpha staring at him infuriatingly.

He thought Alpha was angry because he was shamelessly eating his food and not offering it to him. So, he nervously extended a spoonful of the delicacy toward Alpha, ready to share.

Alpha's lips curled into a mischievous smirk and he shook his head. "I'm not hungry for food, fat cheeks," he teased in a slow and seductive voice. The colour rose in Eve's cheeks, and he hurriedly averted his gaze, suddenly remembering how he got hungry in the middle of their making-out session.

Bashfully, he went back to eating. Halfway through though, a voice booming with anger reached his ears.

"What the fuck is your problem? Why is it always a damn challenge to track you down?" Nick shouted, drawing the attention of every student in the cafeteria.

Whispers spread through the crowd, their eyes widening at Nick's audacity to confront Alpha so boldly. They thought he must be insane for talking to Alpha like that, or perhaps Sunford had finally driven him crazy enough to seek direct death.

But to their astonishment, Alpha didn't kill Nick on the spot as they had expected.

But just as Alpha was about to retort, Nick's gaze shifted to the opulent food that Eve was savouring. His anger shifted, and Nick's voice rose again, his tone incredulous. "And why the hell is this kid eating this food? The chefs are meant for you, not for him!"

Eve's face instantly flushed with embarrassment, and he shrank in his seat, the attention now firmly on him, which made him nervous. Slowly, feeling ashamed and small, he placed the spoon back onto his plate, his anxiety growing.

Alpha watched him and let out an exasperated sigh, rolling his eyes at Nick's outburst. He clenched his jaw in anger. "Nick, just shut up!" he snapped, his patience waning. "Whether I feed this food to myself, to this guy, or to some damn dog, it's my fucking choice. So, fuck off!"

In a surprising move, he reached for the spoon and scooped up a bite of the dish, moving the spoon toward Eve's lips.

Eve's eyes widened and he hesitated, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't open his mouth. But when his nervous eyes met Alpha's burning gaze, he finally complied, parting his lips to allow Alpha to feed him.

The room fell into silence as they sneakingly watched the drama. Nick glared at them because he knew Alpha was deliberately provoking him. "I have something to inform you," Nick's anger flared as he announced.

Alpha didn't say anything for a while, but he knew he would be something important.

But before he could tell Eve to go back to the dorm, Eve's delicate hand firmly grasped his shirt. His big, innocent eyes looked up at him with a pleading gaze. Eve's voice trembled as he asked, "You won't come back with me?"

Alpha was taken aback, an indescribable emotion rushing through him. For some reason, Eve didn't want Alpha to leave with someone else. It made his chest hurt, he felt jealous. Alpha stared at him, amused by his clinging, enjoying it completely.

Nick's glare grew more intense, irritated eyes glaring at Eve. He moved to separate him from his rebellious brother. Yet, before his hand could even reach Eve, Alpha slapped his hand away. Alpha's menacing gaze fixed on him, a promise of death if he dared to touch what belongs to him. "Never repeat this mistake," Alpha said, each word a warning. His crazy eyes were enough to force Nick to take a step back.

He understood the risks of pushing Alpha further right now, especially considering that Alpha just got back after being given high doses of those drugs. He's in the most dangerous and unstable state right now. It's better not to provoke him.

Taking another cautious step back, he declared, "Once you're finished feeding your lovely bitch, find me in room no. 1089."

Alpha sighed in annoyance as he watched him leave, then turned his attention back to Eve. "Eat, fat cheeks. We are going to the dorm after that. I'm feeling cold, I need to borrow your body for a while."

Eve's interest piqued at those words. Forgetting about the insult, he hurriedly began to finish his food.

As they walked back to the dorm, Eve trailed behind Alpha. But this time, his head wasn't down to avoid others, and he met the gaze of passing students without hesitation. He appeared more like a regular person rather than the scared hamster he usually looked like.

"Why the act in front of Nick?" Alpha was the first to break the silence, his voice filled with suspicion.

Eve frowned and stuttered, "Wh-What do you mean?"

Alpha suddenly halted, but didn't turn around. Eve's heart raced. "You really think you could repeat what you did on the Night's hunt, and I wouldn't notice? The tears, constantly begging for me to stay, and in the end, you were successful in making me stay, both times. Did you believe I wouldn't see through it?"

Eve's feet seemed rooted to the spot, he couldn't move, his gaze darting around the corridor, noticing how students kept stopping or even hurriedly changing their direction upon seeing Alpha. Frustration streaked his face, and he sighed softly. "I honestly...don't know what you're talking about."

Alpha turned around slowly, his expression devoid of emotion. Eve gulped as Alpha took a step closer to him. The distance between them shrank, and Eve found himself almost at eye level with Alpha. There was just a few-inch height difference between them.

Alpha suddenly smiled, a creepy and spine-chilling smile. "You've got some nerve," he whispered, his voice dripping with menace. "Thinking you could play me like that. I know you deliberately stopped me from leaving with Nick."

Eve's stare remained unbroken, and he still couldn't answer. Silence heavily increased between them until Alpha's grin widened, becoming even more disturbing. "You stopped me from leaving with Nick—twice," he hissed, the accusatory tone sending a chill down Eve's spine. "Why did you do that?"

Eve's lips parted, yet no words emerged. He was unable to run from those vigorous eyes of Alpha that held an undeniable narrowing suspicion. "You know," Alpha drawled, his voice dripping with sinister sweetness, his fingers reaching up and caressing Eve's burning cheek. "I'm onto your little game."

Both stared into each other's eyes, one with a scared expression while the other with sinister craziness.

Suddenly, something bumped into Alpha, or rather, someone. It was a boy. The boy collided into Alpha with a jolt, his weight pressing against Alpha's sturdy frame. Despite the impact, Alpha stood firm, not budging an inch. Swiftly reacting, Alpha reached out and grabbed the boy's arm, preventing him from stumbling. A startled yelp escaped the boy, not from the almost-fall, but rather from the realisation that he had bumped into Alpha.

"I-I-I…I'm…r-really…I-I..is sorry..was sorry…I'm forgive…please pathetic me!" he cried out trails of incoherent apologies.

Alpha's eyebrow went up a bit, curious. He didn't seem angry. Yet, it was Eve who shot a fierce glare where Alpha's hand was grabbing the boy's arm.

Just then, another guy rushed and apologized as well, pulling his stupid roommate behind him. He bowed to Alpha. "Sorry 'bout that, he didn't know you were using this hallway."

"You guys are lucky I'm in a good mood," Alpha said playfully, his eyes darting to Eve who was standing emotionless. "And it's because of your Luna. So, you should thank him."

"Thank you, Luna," they both said in unison.

Eve awkwardly looked between them. "No worries."

Alpha and Eve watched them leave, as the taller one slapped the shorter one.

"Ouch, Jax, it hurts!" Jaxton slapped his head.

"You deserved it for always running around so blindly, stupid Ira,"

When Alpha turned his gaze back to Eve, he found Eve staring at him. Alpha raised a brow.

"Why did you let him go so easily?" Eve's question was unexpected. "When usually you'd beat the shit out of them."

Alpha was a bit stunned, seeing a boy who's said to be kind-hearted, asking a question like this. But soon his surprise faded into a small smile. He leaned in closer, creating a heated atmosphere. His fingers held Eve's chin gently. "You're showing your true self, babe," he whispered. "Did you realize it?"

Fuck! Eve's heart raced, caught off guard by Alpha's closeness and words.
