Chapter 68

But on the seventh day of his visit, when he was on his way back. He found himself standing face to face with Wagnar.

His towering guards are at his sides. Lia was tense from the unexpected encounter but he knew he could not fight them alone. When Wagner gave his guards the order to bring Lia into his office, he decided not to waste energy trying to fight. He was aware that his rebellion would be quickly put down in Wagnar's territory.

Once in the office, sitting face to face, Wagnar scrutinised his calm face and said in a nonchalant tone. "I think you're not aware that there are cameras everywhere here."

A nasty curse leaked out of Lia's mouth. How could he overlook such a thing? Still, he asked with a cool voice. "Why now then, after a week? Why not catch me right away?"

Wagnar raised a brow. "I let you roam for seven days to see where your curiosity would lead. And as expected it was right there where it shouldn't be. It's enlightening to watch the paths people choose when they believe they are free."

"I didn't believe that I was free," Lia stated, looking directly into his eyes. "I'm not that dumb."

Wagner chuckled. "Your actions say otherwise. You were free for seven days. You were enjoying the freedom I granted you. That's because I wanted to see your capabilities, in which you succeed. You were doing what none of our guards, doctor, or any psychiatrist couldn't do, " he leaned forward on his desk with a smirk and vicious gaze. "Got close to that useless dog."

Lia glared at him, not liking him talking like that about Alpha. "So what? Are you gonna threaten me to stay away from him?"

Every person present in the room wanted to kill him for talking so disrespectfully to their godfather, but the man just laughed it off. "Threats are for the weak. I admire how fearless you are, and that's why I am giving you a choice."

"What choice?" Lia narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"Choice of either working with us or saying goodbye to your life."

Lia's breath caught up in his throat. The way Wagnar put it made it clear that they would not let him go alive today if he refused. He was not scared of the situation, but it definitely caught him off guard.

Suddenly, he started laughing. It was hysterical and mad, but it was not a bad feeling. "This is what my life has been since I can remember. I don't care even if you kill me," He felt numb, as if he had long lost all the will to live. The words slipped easily through his lips and he was not lying. He did not regret his actions or even think about regretting them.

The people in the office looked at him weirdly, and even Wagnar had a hint of amusement on his face. "So, this is your answer?" He asked, and Lia nodded.

"Yeah, this is my answer. Do whatever you want with me," Right after he said this he frowned and rubbed his chin. "Oh, no wait. At first, I didn't care whether I wanted to live or not but now...." He looked back confidently. "Now I want to live since I have to steal your useless treasure right under your nose. I don't think it's the right place for him to live here."

Instantly, every gun pointed at his head, and the guards were about to shoot him when Wagnar held up a hand and ordered them to lower their guns. Wagnar closely observed him.

"Do you know what the meaning of life is?" Wagner asked.

Lia raised his eyebrows at him. "Not really."

It's been a long time since he had met someone as stupidly arrogant and menacing as Lia. His interest in the boy had already been piqued.

"Life has no meaning without a reason. Everyone has that one reason they live for. Life is meaningless until you find your purpose, your reason to live," Wagner told him. "Once you find your reason, you can live without regrets and die without any fear."

"And you have that?" Lia asked with a smug.

"Yes, I have," Wagner said and gestured to the guards to back away.

"Good for you then," Lia hummed arrogantly.

Wagnar's face twisted with a cruel smirk. The man's gaze was so piercing that Lia could almost feel the invisible hand roaming all over his body. "I don't think you understand who you're talking to?"

Lia gulped, feeling slightly nervous at the intense gaze. "I do."

"You are a fool. You have the nerve to talk to me in such a way. I can have you killed just like that," Wagner snapped his fingers, but Lia didn't flinch.

Moving his head he looked at all the guns pointed at his head. "And I told you I'm not scared of dying."

"Not scared or not caring?"

"Maybe both. I'm not sure," Lia said with a scowl. What the fuck this old fart wants from me?

"Let's see if you can use those brains and guts for my use," Wagner finally showed his real fangs. "Listen to my offer first. After that, you're free to decide whether you want to be dead or not."

Lia was surprised. He didn't think Wagnar would let him live after rejecting him. "What is it?"

"Became the trainer of Alpha. We have wasted years on him but there's no result. No one can handle him, he's a wild dog, and has killed many of my men. We have been searching for years to find a perfect trainer. You seem like the perfect choice. We have seen you with him. You seem to have a good influence on him," he continued when Lia showed no reaction. "You can do whatever you want with him, as long as he becomes useful to us. Beat him, torture him, but not kill him. We don't care as long as he learns how to become a human."

Lia was flabbergasted for a while. Sure, he wanted to take Alpha out of here and it's a perfect opportunity to be close to him and deceive these dangerous men. But, everything Wagnar told him sounds fishy and full of traps.

"So, what do you say? Will you become the trainer of this dog?"

Lia shook his head. Nothing in this deal feels right yet it was still tempting him. "If he's useless then why are you still keeping him?"

Wagnar raised a brow. "The number of people he has killed is larger than the number in a calendar." Lia's eyes widened in shock. "He's not born for the normal world. That's why we are looking for someone who could train him. Make him act like a human. So, I ask you again, are you willing to take the job?

Lia took a deep breath. He wasn't thinking much of it, he didn't trust this bastard. He knew what Wagnar did and his influence in the country was crazy. He knew he was walking in a trap but there was no way out.

He knew how Wagnar was going to use Alpha in the mafia world. There are a lot of people in the crime world who need a killer like Alpha. Alpha's ability will make them stronger and more powerful.

Alpha was not a normal human, he was a beast. A beast that doesn't understand the value of lives. He was a beast that would destroy anyone without a second thought.

"After I train him. Then, what? What will happen to him?" He asked slowly.

This question made Wagnar slightly angry. He glared at the boy and said, "If you think you will escape with him, then you're a bigger fool than I thought. You can't run away from us, not now, not ever. I will find you no matter which corner of the world you hide in. So, stop wasting my time and make a decision."

Lia was scared by the intense atmosphere and the deadly look, but he didn't show his fear. "Not before you answer my question."

Wagner took a deep breath, controlling his anger. "Once he has learned to obey. We will use him to get our work done," he said, and Lia could see the greed and malice in his eyes.

He figured out he was walking on a dangerous line. He understands what will happen to him and Alpha once he agrees. "And then?" and so he was doing everything in his power to increase the level of Wagnar's annoyance.

"Once we have no use for him, we will sell him in the black market. I'm sure some people will pay a fortune to buy a wild dog like him."

It was the truth. But Wagnar's words don't match his earlier statement. "But I heard you saying instead of selling him you are gonna make him the mafia." He didn't even try to hide that he secretly heard everything.

Wagner sighed, losing patience. "Enough. I have had enough of this. I'm giving you a last chance to survive. So, shut your damn mouth and decide. Or, are you still waiting for the death door?"

Lia's time was up, and he couldn't stall any longer. "Fine, I'll do it. But I have conditions."

Wagner was quiet. His gaze was piercing and intimidating. He took a deep breath and said, "What are your conditions?"

Lia could not help the smirk on his lips. "I have three conditions. First, no one is allowed to interfere with my training."

"We have trained him before. You think you can do a better job than us?" Wagnar sneered.

"Yes, I know you have trained him. But did it work?" Lia asked shamelessly, raising Wagnar's anger.

"Don't push your luck, boy," he warned.

Lia rolled his eyes standing up and roughly pushed the guns from his face. "I'll tell you the rest of the conditions once I start the training."

With that, he walked out of the office.

"What an arrogant brat!" The butler says. "I'll beat him up till he loses his mind. Do you think he can do the job, sir?"

Wagnar's face turned dark. "I'm not sure. But, he has a high chance."
