"It's over."
Ayla couldn't believe the words that she had just heard from Derrick. This was not real, and this was all a bad nightmare.
Ayla followed Derrick out of the bar, shocked at his words, "Derrick? What do you mean?"
She was trying hard to catch up with him, and he stopped abruptly to face her,
"I'm not getting anywhere with you, Ayla and it's other things too."
"I don't understand, we have been together for two years. We can talk this through, see what we can fix, or what we can do to change that."
"I don't think you get it Ayla, think about it, we have never had sex, guys love sex. So let that seep in."
Ayla tried to not tremble at his words, he had lied to her. "I thought we would wait for the right time. You were the one who said that we should wait for the right moment."
"You really think if a guy were interested in you, they would wait for that long? Two years without nothing, You are way more dense than I thought you were."
"You....you...I...…"
"I'm not attracted to you Ayla, that is why I could wait whilst I had someone else please me on the side."
Ayla felt as if someone had punched her in the stomach, "So you have been cheating on me all this time?"
"If you view it that way, I mean you made it easy for me as you are afraid of losing your virginity, You're twenty but you act childish. I'm tired of that."
"How can you say this to me, Derrick? It's me, how can you hurt me like this?"
"You need to save the waterworks for when you are alone."
"Why are you being cruel to me? Why can't you be nice, even if you're breaking up with me?"
"You irk me a bit."
"What?"
"For you to think that you had a chance with a guy like me baffles me, have you seen yourself?"
"I have never taken you for granted Derrick, I have been beyond good to you."
"I know that Ayla, that is all you have to offer."
"So you wanted me to be shallow?"
"You have no X-factor."
"That is all that matters to you."
"You're too boring Ayla, that is something guys hate, you have no fun bone in you."
"Then why not tell me this when we were dating?"
"That is the problem, Ayla, if I have to tell you, then it's a huge problem."
"Relationships are about compromise and seeing where we can come together."
"Thankfully, my prison sentence is over with you Ayla and I don't have to fake it anymore, kissing and hugging was becoming too much of a hassle for me."
"So not even once when we were together, you felt something for me? Anything?"
"I did Ayla, pity for you, that you could be that delusional."
"It's one thing to use me, but it is another thing for you to be this rude."
"What are you going to do about it?"
She looked at her feet, "What can I do, to make you stay? For us to try to work it out?"
"There is nothing I want from you, I have been dreaming of this moment for the dreadful two years that we have spent together."
"Nothing made you happy?"
"Your money did, Ayla, that I can give it to you."
"I was just an atm to you, not even a human being. You have never felt horrible for using me so cruelly?"
"No, not one bit. How can you be so naïve and oblivious? But don't forget that I did pay for it with fake affection that made me sick. I gave more than what you have ever given me."
"I wasn't oblivious, I trusted you Derrick and doesn't that show how much I love you? I did everything for you."
"Well, Ayla, you are going to have to find someone new to bribe with money, maybe they might have sex with you depending on how desperate they are."
Ayla nodded, "I see."
"Any last words?"
"Would they make a difference?"
"Try."
"I........"
Derrick cut her off as he laughed hard, "You thought that I would listen and try to give you another chance. Oh, Ayla you are beyond hopeless."
"Where will you live?"
"I have taken all my stuff from your place and I'm going to live with a friend."
"I'm not chasing you out, Derrick."
"I know that you would never let me go if it was according to you."
She nodded, "I just want what is best for you, even if it hurts me to my core."
"How considerate, but you won't have to do that for me."
Ayla nodded, "I get it."
"Well, it's my cue to leave, hope you find another replacement soon."
Ayla swallowed a lump and watched him walk away,
"Take care."
Ayla stood there, not sure what had just happened. She had just lost the love of her life in a flash.
"Derrick wait!"
Yet he did not stop nor turn around as he proceeded to disappear right in front,
Now what would she do?
