Chapter 9

Not wanting to let Eliot down, I diligently prepared artwork for my solo exhibition.

Eliot had some free time and stayed up late with me.

During this period, Ivo came to see me again.

At that time, Eliot was still asleep.

In just a month, Ivo seemed to have aged a decade.

His former vigor had completely vanished, and instead of his usual custom-tailored clothes, he wore cheap off-the-rack items you'd find anywhere on the street.

He grabbed my hand like a drowning man clutching at straws.

"Scarlett, I was so wrong. I've cut all ties with Kinsley now. You said you wanted to get married in Ireland - let's go right now!"

"Money, status - I don't care about any of that anymore. All I want now is you!"

As he finished speaking, I yanked my hand away.

By now, I had seen through Ivo's true nature.

I let out a cold laugh, no longer mincing my words.
