Chapter 5

The piercing scream made Alec's entire body shudder.

In disbelief, he rushed down the stairs.

At that moment, I was being helped up, blood covering my forehead.

"Serenity... you..."

My mother-in-law stood nearby, holding Eames, her face pale as a sheet.

Eames, in her arms, seemed to sense my pain and let out a sorrowful cry.

"Don't cry, Eames. Your mommy's okay."

My mother-in-law handed Eames to the nanny and shouted loudly.

"Quick! Get Serenity to the hospital!"

"What are you all standing around for?!"

The mansion's staff snapped out of their daze and frantically tried to help me up.

His eyes held disbelief and a hint of something else.

"Alec, what did you do to Serenity?"

"You drove her to jump off the balcony!"

My mother-in-law's tone was accusatory.
