Chapter 4

I looked at Alec in disbelief.

Trying to find any hint of a joke in his eyes.

But he unbuttoned his black shirt and sat spread-legged on the large red bed.

"You like to play?"

"Serenity, I'll let you play to your heart's content!"

Alec lit a cigarette, exhaling smoke that obscured his dangerous eyes.

I knew that look.

He wasn't joking.

"Alec, please don't do this..."

"I'm begging you, I didn't do it."

"Let me out, I'll go find your mom to explain..."

But Alec didn't move, instead watching me with deliberate slowness.

"Serenity, a woman like you, and my amnesiac self was actually interested?"

"Just thinking about having slept with you makes me sick to my stomach."

"Don't worry, soon there will be plenty of men to make a little movie with you..."

As he spoke, Alec took out a bottle of liquid, gripped my mouth, and viciously poured it down my throat.

I clutched my throat, coughing violently, feeling like my lungs would explode, until  Alec finally released me.

"What did you make me take?"

Feeling my body grow feverishly hot, I stared at Alec in terror.

The corner of his mouth curled into a malicious smile.

"You ain't figured it out already?"

"Potent. Aphrodisiac."

I panicked, desperately trying to make myself throw up, but nothing came out.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

"Young Master Shaw, may we come in?"

The doorknob turned.

My breath caught as I frantically pressed my body against the door.

But the door didn't open.

"Young Master Shaw, the door is locked. Do you need us to break it down?"

Number Two's cold voice came through.

Tears streamed down my face as I fell to my knees, begging Alec.

"Please... I'm begging you..."

Alec stared at me for a moment, his eyes devoid of the tender love they once held for me.

Instead, they were filled with disgust and coldness towards a stranger.

"Begging me?"

"Then sign this settlement agreement."

Alec pulled out a document from his bag and tossed it to me.

"Sign this settlement, and I'll give you three million. That should be enough for you to squander."

"After all, Scarlett comes from a different background than your lowly birth... Her pristine life can't be tainted."

As Alec spoke, his eyes brimmed with infinite tender love for Scarlett.

With trembling hands, I picked up the letter of understanding.

My heart filled with endless sorrow as tears fell one by one onto the document.

Once upon a time, Alec loved me.

On the eve of our wedding, it was he who suggested inviting my parents to attend.

When my parents heard that Alec had invited them, they came to New York City without hesitation, despite their physical disabilities.

They should have been happily attending my wedding.

If it weren't for Alec losing his memory at the wedding, causing me to be kicked and rushed to the hospital.

How else would my parents have no one to pick them up at the airport, leading to their unfamiliarity with traffic rules and getting hit while driving the wrong way?

And now this man, whom they had praised countless times, was forcing me to let go of the person who killed them.

My lips quivering, I forcefully tore up the document.

"Alec, I will not let Scarlett off the hook!"

"I've seen the police interview records, but if they were driving normally in the city, my parents wouldn't have been killed!"

"It was Scarlett who was speeding!"

I stood up straight, gradually voicing my suspicions.

Alec's face stiffened, and he extinguished the cigarette in his hand.

He threw the cigarette on the ground and crushed it with his foot.

"Serenity, my patience has run out."

"I don't have time to play childish games with you."

He spoke, addressing the bodyguards outside.

"Break down the door!"

The door was instantly struck with force.

"!"

Each sound was more piercing than the last.

I looked at Alec again.

Trying to see a hint of the love that once was on his face.

Unfortunately, there was none at all.

I smiled bitterly, took off the ring in my hand, and threw it forcefully at his chest.

"Alec, this time, we're over for good!"

After saying that, I ran towards the window on the second floor of the villa, turned to smile at Alec, then leaped.

"!"

I crashed heavily onto the grass, losing consciousness.

At this moment, inside the house, Alec suddenly felt a dull pain in his heart.

He raised his hand to cover his chest, tears continuously falling from the corners of his eyes.

"What's... happening to me?"

Alec muttered to himself, subconsciously bending down to pick up the silver-white ring on the carpet.

He turned the ring, under the light of the room.

A circle of English words appeared.

【Love of my life】

The love of his life.

His heart ached even more, his hand trembling as he pulled out a similar ring from his suit pants.

The ring also had a circle of English words.

The difference was that the man's ring had an additional engraved QR code.

Alec instinctively took out his phone, preparing to scan the QR code on the ring. However, a scream suddenly echoed from downstairs.

"Ah!"

"The young mistress has fallen from the building!"
