Chapter 1

I was the youngest bomb disposal expert in the country, but I lost my sight while protecting my girlfriend during an explosive mission.

For three years of blindness, my girlfriend stayed by my side, promising to marry me once I recovered.

On the day my eyesight was finally restored, I excitedly grabbed my test results to find my attending physician. But at the office door, I saw my girlfriend passionately kissing the doctor.

"Can't you control yourself? You're so eager to call me here, you're truly irresistible."

"You know how to have fun. That blind guy at home is boring as hell."

In that moment, I wished I could never see again.

Heartbroken and disillusioned, I called my organization's boss.

"Boss, my eyesight is back. I'm officially requesting to rejoin the organization."

————————

"Perfect, this latest mission is extremely critical. We've received an international request for assistance, and the assignment will take six months."

"During these six months, you won't be able to contact the outside world. Have you thought it through? Have you told your fiancée?"

Through the crack in the door, I observed the two people in the office, lost in their own world.

Felicity was perched on the desk, held by Draven in a highly suggestive position.

I spoke softly.

"Yes, I've thought it through."

The boss didn't press further.

"Good. I'll send a car to pick you up the day after tomorrow."

After hanging up the phone, I remained at the doorway, continuing to watch their actions.

The man's voice was thick with desire.

"Why do you keep hanging around that blind guy Alec? When are you finally going to break up with him?"

"Even if he went blind saving you, surely you've repaid that debt over these three years, right?"

The woman's breathy moans were enough to make one weak at the knees.

"Be good now. Isn't what we have now perfect? Don't you find it thrilling?"

The man chuckled low.

"Thrilling? Well, let's play with something even more thrilling tonight. Everything's still in the guest room, right...?"

I turned and left the hospital, not wanting to hear any more. It made me feel sick.

Once I got home, the tears I'd been holding back all the way finally fell.

It hurt so much. How could it not? I am the youngest bomb disposal expert in the country, with a once-promising future ahead of me.

But three years ago, Felicity's enemies planted an explosive device in her office. To save her, my eyes were severely injured, and after going blind, my career came to a complete standstill.

The day I learned I was blind, I couldn't handle the shock and nearly lost control of my emotions.

Felicity hugged me, choking back tears, terrified I might hurt myself further.

"It's okay, Alec. The doctor says your eyes can potentially heal. It's just a matter of time, don't rush it."

"Even if you can't see for the rest of your life, I'll hold your hand and be your eyes forever."

Felicity truly lived up to her promise.

For the past three years, aside from work, Felicity never went out partying. She turned down all social engagements and focused on taking care of me at home.

But today, on the first day I regained my sight, Felicity hit me with a bombshell, telling me that her companionship and love for the past three years were all fake.

These three years, I've been living in a beautiful dream of my own making.

Just then, Draven's words from earlier suddenly flashed through my mind.

"The stuff in the guest room is still there, right?" I rose and stumbled my way to the guest bedroom, only to be greeted by a sight of uniforms, toys, and props scattered all over the floor.

Because they thought I couldn't see, they had carelessly left these items strewn about, without any fear of being caught.

In a flash of realization, it suddenly hit me.

Although Felicity had always come home on time after work, she often used the excuse of handling business matters to stay in the study. During those times, strange noises would frequently emanate from somewhere in the house.

I found it odd, but when Felicity finished her work, she would always reassure me softly.

"There's no noise. It's just that your hearing has become too sensitive since you lost your sight."

Now I realize she wasn't working in the study at all, but was entangled with Draven in the guest bedroom.

Just as I was pondering this, I heard footsteps approaching from outside.

I hastily closed the guest bedroom door and sat down on the couch.

"Alec, Dr. Rockwell was concerned about your eye condition and came to check on you at home."

"I ran into him right outside as I was coming home from work, so we came in together."

Unaware that I could now see, they made no attempt to hide their actions.

I clearly saw the two of them standing at the doorway.

Their eyes intertwined, fingers tightly interlocked.
