Chapter 1

"Sometimes, the gods get bored, when they do. It's the nature and humanity that suffers for the gods to entertain themselves."

Mia quickly opened her eyes, groggily taking in the familiar surroundings, she gently brushed her hand against her eyes that are as intense as a starless sky.

"Hmh? ano yun..." She wondered.

Suddenly, a small figure appeared infront of her, it was her 6 year old sister. She quickly pushed her away.

"Anong oras na?" She mumbled, the six year old suddenly grabbed her phone and dropped it on her face. Mia caressed the spot on her face that was hit.

"June 7 na, ah?" She mumbled, opening her phone, seeing the early time and celebration day for her birthday.

Mia drops her phone on the bed, walking to the living room only to see her younger siblings.

Looking at them, she looked like she had something to say, "Pangit kayo." It became a daily thing for her to say mean things to her younger siblings.

After seeing them, Mia quickly ran outside of their house. Warm sunshine greeted her, her smile widened.

"Today's the day that i turn thirteen years old." Using her hand, she covered her eyes from the sunlight.

It was definitely a lovely day for a celebration but it didn't last long as it was ruined by the sudden weather. It started to rain, raindrops clung to the leaves like sparkling diamond.

"Sigh.. i might get a fever, i'll go inside now." She rushed inside, grabbing the towel near the chair.

The gentle patter on the roof was a soothing noise, Mia went her way back to the bedroom.

She starts to look for comfortable clothes to replace her wet shirt until she finally found the perfect one.

Mia wore a cozy khaki, long sleeve hoodie with a butterfly print. "Mhm, i bought this last month, does it look alright?" She wondered, she gently swept the stray strand behind her ear.

Looking into the mirror, Mia's wolf cut did slightly grow after months.

She paused for a bit, wondering something.

"Hmh, i should finish my story already.." She sighed, looking around, spotting her backpack nearby.

She bend down, carefully unzipping her bag. She retrieved her notebook and walked to the nearby table, and started scribbling.

Minutes passed and it didn't take long until Mia noticed something different.

An earthquake strucked, glass cups were shattered. Mia's oldest brother was bothered as he began to walk outside like an idiotic sibling would do.

She abandoned her notebook on the table alongside her pen and grabbed her younger sisters with her, they dropped to the ground and took cover under the table.

Her heart started to beat fast, she started to get anxious.

"Baby tsaka Mm, dito lang kayo, ah?" She mumbled, gently stroking her younger sister's hair.

Mia gently stood up and walked outside to see her older brother, suddenly, her eyes widened.

"Putangina! Kuya, nakikita moto?!" She yelled, her older brother glanced and nodded.

Marc, the older brother, took a step forward, taking in the appearance of something anonymous.

Radiant, pulsating oval unknown that emit an otherworldly glow. They resemble whirlpools, drawing in surroundings, a familiar small oval shaped unknown that's similar to a...

"Gate! ayun yung tawag jan, nakita ko na yan sa mga manhwa eh!"

Marc looked at her, curious, he turned around and faced her.

"So.. ano nand'yan?" He asked.

"Uhh... pwede ba english, kuya?" She asked, scratching her head in shyness.

"Oo, go, explain mo na." He sighed.

"That gate contains monsters," She explained. "Like a goblin or a skeleton, the creatures range from humanoid beasts to massive boss, the gates can be ranked... F to S, there could also be SSS+ gates but that probably won't happen soon." She paused, silence taking in. Marc slowly took in the information inside his head.

"... Some novels that i saw also contains a status system, alam mo yun, diba, kuya?" She asked.

"Malamang."

"Try nating tatlo?" She smiled, his eyes widened.

"Baliw kaba? mamatay tayo pag pumasok tayo jan." Marc scolded her, he frowned. Mia was always the crazy one between the five siblings, she laughs like a maniac and acts like one.

"Hindi naman ako baliw ih! try natin, baka maging strong tayo, no? sama nadin si ate." Mia yelled.

"Sige na nga, tawagin yung ate mo." He sighed, giving in to her request and his curiosity.

Minutes passed and Mia finally pursued her older sister, Marielle to come with them.

"Baliw ba kayong dalawa? imposibleng... mag karon tayo ng ganyan.." Marielle wiped her eyes, denying the truth.

Mia looks at both of them with a mischievous smile. "Oh, wait. Alam ko na gagawin mo, hihilahin mo kami sa gate nayan." Marc suddenly spoke, rolling his eyes.

"Pano mo nalaman? ayun sana gagawin ko pag hindi ka nag usap.." She mumbled, looking disappointed.

"Na rinig ko yon. Lika na nga, ako mauuna, okay?" He started scratching his head.

Mia nodded out of excitement, she often listens to her older brother except when it's related to food.

Marielle, beside them, was extremely worried about the situation but nothing could stop her siblings about this plan.

The oldest slowly started walking towards the gate, he remained cautious about what was coming from them. The two followed their brother like an animal that needs a sibling.

Marc stopped alongside his younger sisters, seeing the mysterious yet known gate infront of them made him shiver.

He wasn't forced to go with them, Marc could stop right there but he didn't, his curiosity was unbearable and he can't leave his siblings inside there.

Marc took a deep breath, he was determined to find out what was inside of the gate instead of seeing it in his phone.

"One must see something to believe that it exist." He mumbled, the rain falling down on them.

He tightly grabbed their wrists, looking at them. Marc took a deep breath and ran inside the gate without looking back.

To be continued...
