The Cost Of Love

Like many would have it. Sometimes it's better to let someone go. The older we get, the more we see, the more we realize how badly we've treated the most important thing we had in life. (Love). 

It was time I forgot about Ella. If we were meant to be together, I would've known that right when I met her. It's time I move on now. I guess she had already moved on. Sam's story began when he joined the Army. Things have been different since he joined the army. He didn't really like it there, but he's got no choice. He had to be there. Years later Sam returned from the army as he nearly died in combat. I guess that life wasn't just for everyone, it wasn't for him. Sam returned and tried to invest most in the business. But the thing about business, to make a great business, you need great capital. But Sam couldn't afford that, so he needed help. While he tried so many banks to get a loan. They all kept denying his request. Some agreed to offer him a loan. They demanded so much in return, so much interest and said, he could take it if he wanted, or he should leave it. That's the best he could get. Sam was so disappointed when he left the bank, he had nowhere to go. While he crossed the road to the other lane of the road. He saw people trying to steal from a lady that was just passing by, and no one was helping her. Everyone ran for their safety because the thieves had guns with them. But Sam knows a lot about guns, and he knew he could save the woman in distress. He ran towards them. People thought he was mad. "He is a dead man," they said." Sam had so much experience, you know what they say, " An old soldier is always a soldier " Sam was able to save the woman and the thieves all ran off without taking anything from the lady. Sam offered to take the lady (Julia) home so he could treat her wounds. When they got home, it turns out the lady he had just saved was a daughter of one of the businessmen in Lagos. And they weren't after her money, they wanted to kidnap her. So Sam didn't just save her from being rubbed, he saved her life as well. 

She was so impressed by Sam's skills and his courage. He tried to offer him a job. To be her personal security (body guide), she said she would pay her a lot of money. But Sam told her about his business plan, and he told her he just needed money to fund his business. She wanted to help Sam. She said she would introduce him to her father. Sam was thrilled. After the long talk. Sam followed her to go meet her father. When they got there, Julia told her father about how Sam saved her from being kidnapped. Her father was happy to hear it. Then Julia told her father about Sam's business idea, and that he needed money to fund it. But Julia's father didn't like it then. He thought Sam was a thief who was trying to get in on their wealth. He accused him of planning the whole thing up, of trying to kidnap her and save her at the same time. 

Sam couldn't explain himself, for anything he said wouldn't matter. Julia's father asked Sam to leave his house and never come back. He threatened to arrest Sam if he ever set his eyes anywhere near his daughter again or stepped foot in his house again. Sam felt so embarrassed and left. Julia ran after him to apologize. I'm sorry, she said. Sam smiled and said," It's alright Julia, if anyone should apologize, I should be the one. You only tried to help, and trust me, I really appreciate you. But Julia keeps saying," I'm sorry you don't deserve this. You saved my life back there. You really deserve better." Sam smiled and left. She had seen how Sam handled things when someone is in danger, how physically strong he is, and now she's seen how he kept smiling even at the worst situations. She felt for it. Sam was gone. Julia couldn't stop having bad dreams of how she'd been attacked again. But it was just a dream. One day Julia was home alone. Her father had already gone for a business trip. But then, one of her father's business partners came with a briefcase of money. Julia was the only one home, she took the money. While the man was gone, she opened it even when she was asked not to, she found out it was loads of money. At this point, the first thing that came to her head was Sam. She remembered he needed a particular amount of money for his business. Julia took it out and kept the remaining one for her father. She took it to Sam. When she got there. She knocked twice and then Sam opened the door. "What are you doing here?, same said while looking around if there was anyone following her. Am I not welcome to your house? She asked. Sam responded quickly," You are, but your father made it clear that I shouldn't be seen around his building or you. I thought that goes for the both of us, or was I the only one? Julia smiled, speaking of my father. What about him? Sam responded. I tried to talk him about your business. I convinced him that you're a good person, and that you didn't save me money. Then he agreed and decided to help you with the money. (She lied, because she knew Sam wouldn't take it if he knew how it came.) Sam was overwhelmed when he saw the money. He what? He said," I can't believe you did this for me, I can't believe you made him give you this. I must go say thank you to him. Just then Julia interrupted and said, no, you can't go say thank you to him, just take the money and go ahead with your business. It's nothing. You don't need to go over there, and my father is on a business trip. He wouldn't be back until the next few days, so just go on and take the money, start your business and pretend nothing ever happened. Sam went silent for a minute, and then he said, wait. You said your Dad was on a business trip? Yeah, Julia responded. How come you told me he gave you this money to come give me? How come if he is on a business trip? How did you get this money? You need to tell me! Julia didn't know what else to say. She said," Look, I'm just trying to help here. Yeah, but taking your father's money and giving it to me when he clearly told you not to, it means killing me, Same said. I'm sorry, I can't take this money from you. Julia said to him. You know, I think I know who you are now. You're a man of discipline, you're too honest, but you see, sometimes, when you look at men as wealthy as, you admire them, you wish to be like them, you want to be like them, but one thing you should know. There's none of them. I mean none of those wealthy men that you want to be like. That would say, they didn't take what does not belong to them and make it theirs. They do it all the time, and it's normal, including my father. So if you think you want to be on top of the game, but you're not ready to step up your game, trust me, all you'll do is wish, but you'll never be there. So it's either you take this money, or you take it back to my father yourself. I'm not sure you can do that. She left. Sam couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. He took the money. Next morning, he was already set for business. He knew staying around could bring big trouble when Julia's father found out, so he changed his environment. After two months, he had already opened a nice restaurant. He always had dreams of opening a very nice and famous restaurant in the city. Well, his business was growing, he was doing well for himself. After that, Sam thought of the woman he couldn't have done any of this without. He went to go see Julia. He started by sending her flowers through different people, but Julia was not in to all of those things. But then finally, one day, he went straight to her on his own. Julia couldn't believe her eyes while she saw him. Despite how hard it was to recognize him again, she still did know it was him. So it's really you? She said,'You're the one behind all the flowers? I thought you knew me well enough to know that I don't really like flowers. Frankly, Sam responded, it was me, but now I know you don't like flowers, that's why I'm here, no more flowers. Julia chuckled and said," You look good, I must say," Sam said to her," You don't look bad yourself". They both smiled. Sam asks if he could take her somewhere. She agreed. Sam took her to his restaurant. "The place was nice," she said. Sam told her he owned it. She couldn't believe it until she saw the name of the restaurant. She was so happy for him, she hugged him and said," I'm happy for you. Sam said to her," I couldn't have done it without you. She was happy to hear that. She told Sam about how upset her father was when she found out the money was missing, and that she never told him she took it. From that day, they both never spent a day without seeing each other, without going out together. But Sam had things on his mind he couldn't let go just yet, until one day. He offered to take her out, somewhere. Somewhere quiet, somewhere private. When they got there, and unbelievable moments happened, they both started talking, but then they were so in the mood, they had a long talk. She told him things about her. He did the same. For a while, they couldn't stop staring at each other, the sparkles in their eyes. They started kissing each other, and they did it for a long time. They both had the same things on mind, (sex.) They had sex for the very first time. Finally, same had met the woman of his dream, the woman he was dying for. Sam couldn't spend a minute without Julia by his side. But then Julia loved him too. But there was more. Sam's life has just become better just because of one woman. He's been wealthier and happier since he met this woman. What more could he want in a woman? He couldn't think of anything better than marrying the woman of his dream. Sam had already been preparing to propose to her, but he was waiting for the right time. One day, Sam made all the necessary arrangements, he prepared a place for the proposal, and he set everything up. He invited some of his friends and his siblings. He wanted to take Julia by surprise. When everything was set, he called her a thousand times, but she wouldn't pick up her phone. Sam was worried. He drove quickly to Julia's. When he got there, something unbelievable happened. There was a car parked in Julia's driveway. Sam knew it wasn't one of Julia's father's cars. He quickly parked his car and wanted to go inside the building. But then he saw Julia and a guy coming out of the building. A rich guy, Julia, looked so happy, she kissed the guy and said goodbye. She watched him drive off. But then she looked across, and she saw Sam's car. Immediately, Sam drove off. He couldn't believe what he saw. He was so disappointed, he started crying, and he felt like dying. He drove so fast that he could go home. Julia took her father's car and drove after him. Sam stopped at where he was going to propose to her. Everyone was waiting for when he would arrive. With tears on his face, he asked everyone to leave. Julia arrived. When she got inside, she saw the people and the sign(will you marry me). She started crying when she realized he was going to propose to her. At this point, Sam thought dead was better.
