Sam: It could've been better if I hadn't met you. How could you do this to me?
Julia: I'm sorry Sam, I can explain!
Sam: You explain? Oh, now you want to explain? You should've done that a long time ago. But you didn't, you made me fall in love with you, and then you cheated on me with someone else, with him, and now you want to explain. Explain what Julia?
Julia:" I didn't cheat on you. (She paused for a while and then said") The guy you saw was Leo. I met him before you. I didn't know how to tell you about him. We were together for years before he traveled, and then I met you.
Sam: So you lied to me all this while. You didn't think how it'd affect me when I found out about him? It's obvious you didn't care about me.
Julia: I care about you, Sam. I didn't just care, I loved you Sam. I just didn't know how to tell you.
Sam: It seems to me you just did, it would've been simple right back then. Oh Sam, I'm sorry I have a guy I'm dating. A guy I love so much. It would've been that simple Julia, but you kept it from me, and I want to know why. Tell me why you didn't tell me about him, tell me why you kept lying to me!
Julia: My Dad likes him, unlike you. My Dad wants me to marry him. He was there for me when my father's company was falling. My dad likes him.
Sam: And you? What about you Julia? Do you like him? Do you love it? You said you loved me. So tell me do you love him that way, or more?
Julia: I don't know, I can't answer that I'm sorry.
Sam: Don't, I'm sorry. I'm the one who's asking a foolish question. I saw how happy you were when you kissed him goodbye. You couldn't be happier. That was my first time seeing you that happy. I've never seen it before, not when you're with your father, not with me. But you were so happy with him. I guess that answers that. You loved him, you still do, you always do. I was just a Playboy, a guy you helped start his business. Of course, you had the right to toy with my heart and break it in a thousands pieces just how you did it.
Julia: How could you say that? I loved you, he had a good relationship.
Sam: A relationship based on lies? God, I'm not even sure I know your name! Is it Julia, or is it also a lie? Please tell me, I want to know more.
Julia: I never lied to you about anything else, Sam, I never did.
Sam: Yeah, but you lied to me about him. Or course you did, because you love him. That left me wondering. I thought she loved me. You know what, I think you should go Julia. I don't ever want to see you again.
She cried her tears out. But there was nothing she could do. It's really a tough time for both of them. Spending your entire life not believing in things, but then you finally decide to give it a try, and then all the things it does to you is help you understand that it was better off alone, try to make you see you were right about your beliefs, even when you were wrong. Perhaps you just have to keep trying. Or you go back to what you once believed.
Julia was so much in love with Sam, but the image of what Leo did to her and her father couldn't leave her head. Leo is from one of the wealthiest families in the city of Lagos. He is calm, humble and handsome. He traveled abroad two years ago. And now he's back to claim what belongs to him (Julia). Just when another man was about proposing to her. But she loved Sam so much. Sam was an ambitious man, he was a good guy, he was handsome, even way more than Leo was. This was a hard pick for Julia. She knew there was no way on earth her father would accept or want her to marry a guy like Sam. But she loved him more than she loved Leo.
Sam hadn't gotten over her yet. He was yet to recover from the pain. He couldn't stop thinking about her, the memories and everything. Meeting a girl who supports you helps you achieve your goals. She isn't the kind of girl any guy would forget so easily.
It's been two weeks since Leo returned. The rumors about Julia and him getting married are everywhere. Obviously, Sam heard about it too. One day, while he was in his apartment, his doorbell rang. When he opened the door, it was Julia, she went inside with him she she locked the door.
Sam: what are you doing here?
Julia: Am I not welcome to your house anymore?
Sam: That's not what I'm saying.
Julia: So what are you saying? Weeks ago, I had the key to your apartment. Now I can't even step a toe on it?
Sam: Yeah, because I think you've got a better place you could be, so I'm wondering why here?
Julia: Well, I wanted to come see you. You heard I'm getting married soon?
Sam: I heard, I'm happy for you. You deserve to be happy.
Julia: I am happy, I always have been. I was happy with you. We had great times together. You were wrong about it when you said I wasn't happy with you. It's true, I lied to you about him. I never thought of how it would hurt you when you found out about him. It was him before you, but I never loved anybody more than I loved you.
Sam: So why choose to be with him?
Julia: You're a smart guy. I'm sure you could figure that out. My dad loves him; I can't change that.
Sam: I know, I understand. I don't blame you either. It was nice coming over to say that.
Julia: I'm not done yet!
Sam: What else have you got to say?
Julia stepped closer to Sam, her eyes filled with longing and a quiet plea. "I was wondering if we could both end it in a good way," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Before he could respond, she pressed her lips against his, melting into him as if this moment was the only thing that mattered. Her hands traced the contours of his face, memorizing every detail. Sam didn't resist—he couldn't. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her in as he deepened the kiss, tasting the sweetness of her lips, feeling the warmth of her breath against his skin.
With effortless grace, he lifted her, carrying her to bed. The world outside disappeared. All that remained was the soft glow of candlelight flickering against the walls, the hum of music filling the space between their heartbeats.
As he laid her down, his fingers traced slow, reverent paths down her body, unbuttoning her blouse with deliberate tenderness. His lips found the curve of her neck, the delicate pulse beneath her skin. A shiver ran through her, her body arching toward him.
She gasped as he kissed lower, his hands exploring with an aching gentleness, igniting a fire within her. He didn't rush—he wanted to worship her, to make her feel cherished, adored.
"Sam," she murmured, her voice breathless. Her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer. "I need you..." Her plea was filled with need and vulnerability.
He met her gaze, his eyes dark with love and desire. "I'm here," he whispered.
Slowly, he claimed her, their bodies moving in perfect harmony. Every touch, every kiss, every sigh was a promise—one more night, one more memory that neither of them would ever forget.
When their breaths slowed, he gathered her in his arms, holding her close, his lips brushing against her forehead. But they weren't done. He lifted her once more, leading her to the hot tub outside. Steam rose around them as they sank into the warm water, bodies still pulsing with heat, with want. The night air was cool, but Sam's touch was fire. He stood behind her, hands tracing her waist, lips trailing down her shoulder. She turned to him, her eyes filled with desire and unspoken words. "One more time," she whispered, pressing against him.
"As many times as you want," he promised, they became lost in each other again. She never wanted him to stop. He wouldn't stop either. The hottob was Julia's favorite place. A memory made in her favorite place would be unforgettable. "I love you", she kept whispering in his ear. After a long time, they were both tired. She leaned back on him as they relaxed and enjoyed the warmth of the water. An unforgettable night has been made, a way to say goodbye, a way to say I'm sorry without really saying it. A way to apologize without really apologizing. I guess we both understood. The tears on Julia's face were dry after the night. The anger in his heart was gone, the disappointment. It was all gone. Now they can forgive each other and wish each other luck. It was a last gift, a last night spent together. But was it?
The night was finally over. Julia was gone. The wedding was around the corner. She left her invitation card on Sam's desk. Sam went with a gift on her wedding day. She couldn't stop staring at him, the look she gave him, says it all, "She never stopped loving him.
But perhaps it's time they both moved on, what has happened as happened. Sam was more focused on his business now, thanks to Julia. Probably he wouldn't say he wouldn't love again, or he wouldn't give love another chance, but now he's more of a businessman.
Sam's restaurant has become more popular in the city that every rich man would want to dine in his restaurant. Leo finds it a better spot to eat. He loved it there that he wouldn't miss going for a day.
One day, Leo got to meet with Sam.
Leo: you must be, Sam?
Sam: Yeah, I am.
Leo: Nice to meet you. I'm Leo, Julia's husband.
Sam: I know who you are. Nice to meet you.
Leo: Oh, then you must have known who my wife is.
Sam: I know your wife. She is a beautiful woman.
Leo: Yeah she is, and she's lovely. I've been in love with her for a long time. Enough about my wife, tell me about your wife.
Sam: I'm not married yet, obviously. But I'm good, perhaps maybe someday.
Leo: You should, bro, it's a great life experience you don't want to miss. I mean, if you get a great wife, a woman who will always wait for you to come home without looking out, a woman you don't worry about thinking she would leave you for other men when you're off to work.
Sam: Would you mind me asking, is your wife that woman?
Leo: she's perfect, she's that woman and more
Sam: It was nice meeting you today, Leo. Perhaps we will continue this another time. Do have a great day.
As he was about leaving, Leo said to him. I would like you to meet my wife. I would like to do business with you. I mean, you seem like a nice guy yourself. I'm sure you'd like to meet my wife.
Slowly Sam responded.
Sam: Sure, that'll be lovely.
He left with thoughts in his head. He was surprised. He didn't know why Leo would want to do business with him. Yeah, he said he is a good guy, but Sam didn't believe that would be the only reason he wanted to do business with him. He thought maybe that was Julia again. Maybe Julia convinced her husband to do business with the man she had an affair with days before her wedding. Maybe she's trying to help him again. But why?
One morning, Sam got a call from Leo asking him to come over so they could both have dinner at his place by five. Sam was so furious. Maybe he knew about him and his wife.
But as a man, he had nothing to fear. He dressed up and left. When he got to Leo's, he went in. He knocked on the door. No one answered, he kept knocking for some while. Finally, Julia opened the door.
Sam: Where's your husband?
Julia: He's not home yet. What are you doing here?
Sam: What do you mean by that? You told him to do business with me. You asked him to invite me to your house, and you're asking what I'm I doing here?
Julia: I didn't do any of that?
Sam: Then who did?
The tension between them rose suddenly, filling the space with unspoken words and lingering emotions.
