The confident girl strode out of the Pope's Hall with purpose.
Not long after, two deacons dressed in purple robes and ten elite guards in silver-white armor gathered behind her, following her lead as they exited the Spirit Hall.
After two days of rest, Lin Yongming's injuries had fully healed, and his soul power had been restored. Even the claw marks on his body had scabbed over and fallen off, leaving no scars behind. Since the wounds were ordinary, they hadn't left any lasting marks.
During these two days, Yinglan had insisted that Lin Yongming stay home to recover. As a result, he hadn't left the small courtyard until the scabs had completely healed, much to his mother's relief.
On the third day, as the first light of dawn broke, Lin Yongming made his way to the hill behind the village to cultivate, facing the eastern horizon.
As the sun rose, Lin Yongming's outer robe billowed slightly, his body enveloped in a blue glow that flickered with streaks of lightning. The surrounding soul power was drawn into him like a bottomless pit, flowing continuously until a surge of energy erupted, flattening the grass around him. Gradually, the energy subsided, and the blue light surrounding Lin Yongming faded away.
"25th rank soul power. As expected, life-and-death battles truly accelerate one's cultivation."
"If, three days ago, I had faced a Soul Ancestor with optimal soul ring quality and a high-tier martial soul, could I still have won?" Lin Yongming whispered to himself, basking in the morning sunlight.
Reflecting on the battle against the Soul Ancestor three days prior, Lin Yongming imagined facing a Soul Ancestor with two yellow and two purple soul rings. If the opponent's martial soul had been of higher quality, Lin Yongming was certain that victory would have been far more difficult.
After all, during the battle three days ago, Lin Yongming had exhausted all his trump cards—Wave of Killing Intent, Frustration's Will, and Wave Engraving—just to barely defeat the Soul Ancestor. By the end of the fight, his soul power had been nearly depleted, and the only reason he had succeeded was due to the Soul Ancestor's carelessness in his final moments.
"Aside from increasing my soul power, I also need to improve my practical combat experience. Only through firsthand experience can I identify my weaknesses."
"But it's been three days. They should be arriving soon," Lin Yongming murmured as he descended the hill.
Meanwhile, at the Spirit Hall branch in Wurto Town, a group of thirteen arrived around noon. Leading them was a young girl who walked straight into the main hall without any obstruction. Instead, the guards at the entrance knelt on one knee in respect.
"Greetings, Holy Maiden!"
"Holy Maiden, we didn't expect you to come personally," Bishop Xia said, stepping forward with Xu Qing and two other assistants to greet her.
"Bishop Xia, let's skip the formalities. Take me to Thunder Rain Village. I'll personally bring him back to Spirit City," the girl said directly, cutting to the chase.
"Holy Maiden, wouldn't you like to rest after your journey?" Bishop Xia asked cautiously.
"No need. Let's go," the girl replied, turning on her heel and walking out of the hall.
Outside, the girl boarded a luxurious carriage adorned with the Spirit Hall's emblem. Bishop Xia, accompanied by Xu Qing and another assistant, led the way to Thunder Rain Village.
By mid-afternoon, the group arrived at the village but stopped at the entrance.
"Go and bring him out," the girl ordered as she stepped out of the carriage.
"Yes, Holy Maiden."
"Xu Qing, you know where Lin Yongming lives. You go," Bishop Xia instructed.
"Understood, everyone," Xu Qing replied before striding into the village.
Lin Yongming, having just finished lunch, was meditating quietly in his courtyard when his heightened senses detected a familiar presence.
"They're here."
Lin Yongming had known that once his soul rings were revealed, the Pope of the Spirit Hall would send someone. The battle three days ago, witnessed by the branch in Wurto Town, would undoubtedly have been reported to the Pope.
Lin Yongming had never intended to hide his abilities, so he had been waiting in the village for this moment.
Standing up, he walked out to greet Xu Qing.
"Deacon Xu, what brings you here today?" Lin Yongming asked directly.
"Lin Yongming, you're here! I thought you might be training in the hills. Come with me to the village entrance. The Pope has sent someone from Spirit City to fetch you, and they've taken a special interest in you. The Holy Maiden herself has come," Xu Qing explained with a smile.
"The Holy Maiden?" Lin Yongming was momentarily stunned. He had expected a high-ranking deacon from the headquarters, not her.
"Yes, the Holy Maiden I told you about before—the one with innate full soul power, the Pope's disciple. For her to come personally shows how highly they value you," Xu Qing added.
"It seems I have no choice but to agree. Otherwise…" Lin Yongming thought to himself, though he had already planned to join the Spirit Hall.
"Let's go," Lin Yongming said with a nod.
The two walked side by side to the village entrance, where the group of thirteen from Spirit City awaited.
"Lin Yongming greets everyone," Lin Yongming said, stopping three meters from the carriage and bowing slightly.
"So, you're Lin Yongming. Born blind, martial soul Thunderblade, innate full soul power, second soul ring a thousand-year purple ring, and three days ago, you defeated a Soul Ancestor as a Grand Soul Master," the girl stated directly.
"If there isn't a second person with these traits, then yes, that's me," Lin Yongming replied with a smile.
"Good," the girl said before gracefully stepping down from the carriage.
"I am Bibi Dong, from the Spirit Hall headquarters in Spirit City. My title is Holy Maiden of the Spirit Hall. After hearing about your achievements, I've come personally to invite you to join us. Are you willing?" Bibi Dong introduced herself as she approached Lin Yongming.
Lin Yongming could sense the pride and reverence in her voice when she spoke of the Spirit Hall.
"To have the Holy Maiden come personally is an honor I can hardly bear."
"As for the Spirit Hall, I am more than willing to join. After all, without the Spirit Hall awakening my martial soul, I wouldn't be where I am today," Lin Yongming replied earnestly.
"Straightforward. In that case, take a day to bid farewell to your family, then come with me to Spirit City to study at the Spirit Academy," Bibi Dong said, pleased with his response.
"Holy Maiden, I think there's been a misunderstanding. While I am willing to become a part of the Spirit Hall, I never said I would go to Spirit City to study," Lin Yongming replied, still smiling.
"Oh? And why is that? The Spirit Academy has the best teachers and the most advanced training methods on the continent. With your talent, you'd have access to simulated cultivation environments as soon as you enter."
"Or are you just trying to deceive me, planning to run away after we leave?" Bibi Dong's tone turned slightly cold.
"That's not what I meant. It's just that I already have my own cultivation methods and don't require a teacher. Holy Maiden, does joining the Spirit Hall necessarily mean I have to go to Spirit City?" Lin Yongming continued, his tone calm and composed.
"What arrogance! Are you saying that our great Spirit Hall has no one capable of teaching you?" one of the purple-robed deacons behind Bibi Dong snapped, unable to contain his frustration at Lin Yongming's dismissive tone.
The others turned their gazes to Lin Yongming, curious to see how he would respond.
