Lin Yongming knew very well that the resources for cultivation in the Douluo Continent were limited to simulated training environments and the guidance of experienced teachers. Could they possibly offer him rare treasures or ten-thousand-year soul bones?
He was aware of the existence of such treasures, but his current strength was insufficient to obtain them. As for soul bones, even if the Spirit Hall were willing to grant him a ten-thousand-year soul bone, it might not be compatible with him.
Considering all this, there was no real need for him to go to Spirit City. All he needed was an identity within the Spirit Hall.
"Esteemed sir, I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I am well aware of the Spirit Hall's capabilities. Teaching a mere Great Spirit Master like me would be a simple task," Lin Yongming said with a calm smile.
"However, I am different from all of you. I was born blind. I have always lived in darkness, seeking light within it, while you all live in the light, perceiving darkness. You rely on what your eyes can see, believing it to be the truth. But tell me, who among you knows how to perceive light within the darkness?"
"There's an old saying: 'A master leads you to the door, but the cultivation is up to you.' Since no one can guide me through the door of cultivation, why should I go to the Spirit Academy to train? To put it simply, I am blind. If a teacher instructs me on how to fight, I cannot see. The teacher teaches based on what they see, which is completely different from my reality. This would only hinder my progress."
"If you want to teach me the path of a spirit master, that's even more unnecessary. I have already decided to follow the path of an assault-type spirit master. So, what else can the teachers at the Spirit Academy offer me? If someone can teach me how to fight with my eyes closed, I would gladly accept them as my master right now."
"So, I ask you all, who among you can blind yourselves and still confidently defeat an opponent of the same level?" Lin Yongming not only answered the purple-clothed deacon but also posed a question to everyone present.
"Esteemed sir, if you were blind right now, would you still have the confidence to defeat the person standing next to you?" Lin Yongming directed his question to the purple-clothed deacon, who was standing beside another deacon.
The deacon's face turned grim. Although he had two more spirit power levels than the person next to him, if he were blind, he doubted he could win even with an additional level.
The others in the room were also left speechless. They couldn't imagine how they would fight if they were blind. Unless their opponent was two or three levels below them, they would have to rely on overwhelming spiritual power to suppress their enemy.
"He's right. If he were my disciple, how would I teach a blind person to fight? He has never seen light. I can't even imagine what light in the darkness would look like," someone murmured.
"Well said. It seems there's no one at the Spirit Academy who can teach a blind person how to fight. But are you truly blind? How did you manage to fight against a Spirit Ancestor two levels higher than you three days ago?" Bibi Dong, who had been listening intently, clapped twice and asked directly.
"This is the direction of my cultivation. I have known since childhood that my eyes would never heal, so I learned to rely on sound to locate my surroundings. I discovered something interesting," Lin Yongming explained confidently.
"Oh? What interesting phenomenon did you discover?" Bibi Dong's eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"Matter. Our surroundings are filled with invisible matter—no, the entire world is filled with various invisible substances. Normally, these substances are still, but when I gently wave my hand, what do you see?" Lin Yongming waved his right hand lightly through the air and asked the crowd.
"Huh? There's nothing," Xu Qing said, mimicking Lin Yongming's gesture.
Others also couldn't help but wave their hands gently, trying to sense what Lin Yongming was referring to.
"It's not nothing. It creates a subtle breeze," Bibi Dong replied after trying it herself.
"Exactly, a breeze. No matter how small the action, it causes a change in the surrounding matter. For example, like this." Lin Yongming gathered a ball of spirit energy and released it, causing a gust of wind to sweep past everyone.
"Now you can all feel the wind caused by the spirit energy, right?" Lin Yongming continued.
The release of spirit energy wasn't as subtle as a gentle wave of the hand. With their level of strength, everyone present could hear the whooshing sound it made.
"You've explained a lot, but what is this interesting phenomenon you mentioned?" Bibi Dong pressed, still not fully understanding.
"It's called fluctuations. It's an advanced form of sound-based positioning. I call the changes in matter 'fluctuations.' Imagine a calm surface of water in a vat. If you drop a single droplet of water into the center, ripples will spread across the surface."
"These ripples are what you call fluctuations, right?" Bibi Dong interjected.
"Exactly. The air around us is like the calm water. When I wave my hand, I disrupt the stillness."
"So, this is how I was able to fight against a Spirit Ancestor. I could sense the fluctuations caused by his movements. Combined with my spiritual power, I could lock onto his position and counter his attacks."
"And, Holy Maiden, please stop testing me by playing with your hair," Lin Yongming added with a smile, noticing Bibi Dong's subtle attempt to probe him by twirling her purple-red locks.
"Fluctuations?" The others were still skeptical, but their expressions showed a mix of confusion and awe.
Even if they didn't fully understand, they couldn't help but feel impressed.
"Fine, I'll accept your explanation of fluctuations for now. Even if you don't come to Spirit City to train, there's a condition," Bibi Dong said.
"There's always a condition," Lin Yongming replied calmly.
"Smart. It's easy to talk to someone like you. If you can withstand ten of my attacks—or even defeat me—I won't force you to go to Spirit City," Bibi Dong said, her eyes gleaming with interest.
After hearing about Lin Yongming's experiences and his explanation just now, her curiosity about him had grown significantly.
"I want to see how you handle my attacks," Bibi Dong thought to herself.
"May I ask, Holy Maiden, what is your spirit power level?" Lin Yongming inquired.
"I recently obtained my third spirit ring. I'm a level 31 Spirit Elder," Bibi Dong replied.
"What's wrong? Are you afraid? You've already defeated a Spirit Ancestor," Bibi Dong teased, using a bit of provocation.
"Very well, I accept your challenge," Lin Yongming agreed, stepping into an open area.
"She's just Bibi Dong," Lin Yongming thought, recalling her future as depicted in the anime.
After inheriting the Rakshasa God's divine power, she had become a necromancer in the anime. During the final battle of the gods, she had summoned an army of undead and even resurrected two long-dead Douluo.
Even Yin Suxin, the Saint Necromancer, would have been impressed by Bibi Dong's abilities during that battle.
Who would have thought that a first-level god, the Rakshasa God who controlled the power of ultimate evil, would also be a god of the undead?
