After settling into the Spirit Arena Hotel, Lin Yongming and Lan Yinhuang decided to explore the nearby streets. They found a local restaurant that served regional specialties and sat down for a hearty meal.
"You must be tired after carrying me all day. Eat up!" Lan Yinhuang said, enthusiastically piling food onto Lin Yongming's plate.
"Ah Yin, I can serve myself. Besides, you're not that heavy," Lin Yongming replied, slightly embarrassed.
"What's there to be shy about? You're still growing, so you need to eat well. Don't let yourself go hungry while we're traveling," Lan Yinhuang insisted, continuing to add more food to his plate.
Seeing that Lan Yinhuang wasn't going to stop, Lin Yongming decided to keep quiet and focus on eating. Otherwise, she might start lecturing him again.
"Ah Yin, after dinner, should we go check out the Great Spirit Arena? I heard it's quite lively at night," Lin Yongming suggested between bites.
"Not tonight. First, you need to buy some decent clothes. You can't go to the arena dressed like that. As a spirit master, you don't need to wear anything extravagant, but you should at least look presentable," Lan Yinhuang said, eyeing Lin Yongming's rough, plain attire.
"Alright, we'll skip the arena for tonight. After buying clothes, we'll head back to the hotel and get a good night's sleep," Lin Yongming agreed. After all, they had just arrived in Soto City, and there was no need to rush. The Great Spirit Arena wasn't going anywhere.
Besides, Lin Yongming had been flying with Lan Yinhuang all day using his external spirit bone, and now that they had stopped, he was starting to feel the exhaustion.
"That's more like it. Now, eat up," Lan Yinhuang said, satisfied with his response.
After dinner, Lan Yinhuang took Lin Yongming to a nearby clothing store and picked out three sets of clothes for him. While they weren't luxurious, they were of decent quality—something an average citizen of Soto City might wear.
By the time they returned to the hotel, it was already past nine o'clock. After taking a shower, it was nearly ten, and they decided to call it a night.
The suite had two bedrooms, one of which was slightly smaller, about ten square meters. Lin Yongming insisted on taking the smaller room, which didn't have access to the balcony.
The night passed quietly.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the windows as Lin Yongming woke up. When he stepped out of his room, he found that Lan Yinhuang had already prepared breakfast.
"Xiao Ming, after breakfast, let's go out and explore the area. A map can only tell you so much—it's better to see things for yourself," Lan Yinhuang suggested.
"Sure. The Great Spirit Arena probably won't open until the afternoon anyway. It must have been busy all night," Lin Yongming agreed.
Exploring their surroundings was essential, especially in a new city. Knowing the layout of the area could be crucial if they ever needed to make a quick escape.
After breakfast, Lan Yinhuang guided Lin Yongming around the southern part of Soto City. By three in the afternoon, they had covered most of the district. Thanks to his unique ability, Lin Yongming quickly memorized the layout of the streets they walked through.
They returned to the hotel to rest for a bit. At six o'clock, after having dinner, they finally made their way to their ultimate destination: the Great Spirit Arena.
The Great Spirit Arena was located at the southern edge of Soto City, right next to the city walls. In front of the arena was a large square paved with blue stone tiles. A white marble pathway led directly to the arena's entrance, lined with flowers and plants on either side.
At the center of the square stood a massive stone monument engraved with text. Lin Yongming couldn't read it, but he assumed it recorded the history or founding of the Great Spirit Arena.
"This place is packed! I overheard people talking about betting. No wonder it's so lively at night," Lan Yinhuang remarked as they watched crowds of people streaming into the arena after dinner.
"Of course. The arena has to make money somehow. Just hosting matches wouldn't be enough to maintain such a massive facility," Lin Yongming replied calmly.
"I heard the Great Spirit Arena was established by seven prestigious families. It's not affiliated with any empire or the Spirit Hall. Arenas like this can be found in major cities and royal capitals across the continent," Lan Yinhuang said, her curiosity piqued.
"I don't know much about that, and it doesn't really matter to me. All I care about is that this place can help me improve my strength," Lin Yongming replied with a shrug.
Even in the original story, the identities of these seven families were never revealed.
As they approached the entrance, the roar of the crowd inside the arena grew louder, a testament to the excitement and frenzy within.
"Xiao Ming, the registration for spirit fighters is over here," Lan Yinhuang said, following the signs and guiding Lin Yongming to the registration desk.
"Ah Yin, you don't need to participate. At your level as a Spirit Ancestor, it's unlikely you'll find a suitable match here," Lin Yongming said, subtly hinting that she shouldn't compete.
"Don't worry. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even come to this noisy place. There's no way I'd step into the arena," Lan Yinhuang replied with a dismissive wave.
"Good. That's a relief," Lin Yongming said, secretly glad.
"What, are you worried I'll get hurt? Xiao Ming, just focus on your matches. I'll be fine. I won't be competing," Lan Yinhuang assured him with a smile.
"Let's go. The registration desk is free now. Hurry up and get registered," she said, pulling Lin Yongming toward the counter.
"Hello, is this where we register to become spirit fighters at the Great Spirit Arena?" Lan Yinhuang asked the female attendant.
"Yes, it is. The registration fee is ten gold spirit coins per person," the attendant replied politely. "Are both of you registering?"
"Just me. Are there any requirements?" Lin Yongming asked.
"You? Well, there aren't any strict requirements. We just need your age, spirit power level, and the name of your spirit. But are you sure you want to register and compete in the arena?" the attendant asked, eyeing Lin Yongming's blindfold with a hint of doubt.
"Yes, I'm sure. I want to participate in the sparring matches," Lin Yongming confirmed with a nod.
"Alright. What's your basic information?" the attendant asked, deciding not to press further.
"My name is Ashura. I'm 13 years old. My spirit is the Thunder Blade, and my current spirit power level is 33, making me a Spirit Elder," Lin Yongming said, providing the prepared false information.
He had increased his age by five years to match Lan Yinhuang's age. Despite this, the attendant was still visibly surprised by his age and spirit power level.
"Are you sure this information is accurate? Since this is your first time at the Great Spirit Arena, your matches will be based on your spirit power level. If you're registering for the first time, you'll be matched against opponents at the Spirit Elder level," the attendant explained carefully.
"I'm sure," Lin Yongming replied confidently.
"Alright, ten gold spirit coins, please," the attendant said, accepting the payment and entering Lin Yongming's information into the system.
"Here's your Iron Spirit Fighter Badge and a manual explaining the rules and procedures of the Great Spirit Arena. If you want to arrange a match, just let me know," the attendant said, handing over a triangular iron badge and a booklet.
Lan Yinhuang took the manual, while Lin Yongming accepted the badge.
"Please arrange a match for me," Lin Yongming said, holding up the badge.
"Understood. I'll randomly match you with a Spirit Elder-level opponent," the attendant replied, beginning the process.
