After parting ways with the three siblings from the Haotian Sect, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor flew leisurely for three days before finally catching sight of the Sunset Forest.
As the endless expanse of forest came into view in the distance, Blue Silver Emperor tapped Lin Yongming's arm to alert him. "Xiao Ming, I see the forest ahead. After traveling for so many days, this must be the Sunset Forest, the second-largest spirit beast forest on the Douluo Continent."
Flying through the clear blue sky with white clouds, Blue Silver Emperor, nestled in Lin Yongming's arms, had been keeping an eye on the horizon. Upon spotting the Sunset Forest, she immediately informed Lin Yongming.
"Hmm, we should be arriving soon. Let's rest nearby before heading in. There's no need to rush," Lin Yongming replied with a nod.
"I've checked the map. There's a town called Sunset Town near the forest. Beyond that lies the imperial city of the Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City," Blue Silver Emperor explained. She had memorized the landmarks on the Heaven Dou Empire's map, so she didn't need to consult it to know that the town ahead was Sunset Town, named after the forest.
Sunset Town was the closest settlement to the Sunset Forest. Although it was classified as a town like Wurto, its proximity to the forest made it far more prosperous, with abundant resources.
"Alright, let's rest in Sunset Town for two days," Lin Yongming agreed. Following Blue Silver Emperor's guidance, they landed outside Sunset Town.
"It's much warmer down here. The closer we get to Heaven Dou City, the colder it seems," Blue Silver Emperor remarked, feeling comfortable.
"That's because the Heaven Dou Empire is located in the north. Beyond it lies the perpetually frozen Arctic Ice Plains. Compared to the Balak Kingdom, it's naturally colder here. Plus, we were flying hundreds of meters above the ground, so the cold air from the Arctic Ice Plains would naturally reach us," Lin Yongming explained calmly.
"A'Yin, once we enter the town, I'll buy you a couple of outfits. Your current clothes are too thin for the climate here," Lin Yongming said with concern.
"Alright, I'll listen to you. It's not cold now, but it might get chilly at night. And if we end up staying in the Sunset Forest for a while, we won't have the luxury of staying in an inn," Blue Silver Emperor replied, her heart warmed by Lin Yongming's thoughtfulness.
"Let's head into town. It's still early, so we can shop for clothes and then grab a meal," Lin Yongming said, taking Blue Silver Emperor's hand as they entered Sunset Town.
It wasn't too late when they arrived—just before 4 p.m.
Despite the early hour, the air was filled with the aroma of roasted meat. Given its proximity to the Sunset Forest, the town's specialty was naturally grilled meat.
Most of the restaurants in town were barbecue joints, and many businesses collected animal hides to craft clothing.
"It's quite lively here, almost like a small city," Blue Silver Emperor remarked, surprised by the bustling streets.
"It's probably because of the Sunset Forest," Lin Yongming replied, also sensing the lively atmosphere.
They made their way to the town's commercial district and began shopping for clothes. Both of them ended up buying two sets of thicker outfits. Afterward, they found a small hotel nearby.
After checking in, they didn't immediately head to their rooms to freshen up. Instead, they went out to a local barbecue restaurant and ordered a roasted beast leg and some local fruits.
"I'm so full. The meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the sauce was perfectly paired," Lin Yongming said as they left the restaurant nearly an hour later.
"It was really unique. I've never had barbecue like this before. The golden skin was so flavorful," Blue Silver Emperor praised without hesitation.
By the time they left, it was already dark. The town's nightlife couldn't compare to a city like Suotuo, so after a short stroll, they returned to the hotel.
Sitting on the sofa, Blue Silver Emperor casually asked Lin Yongming about his plans for obtaining a spirit ring in the Sunset Forest.
"Xiao Ming, we'll be entering the Sunset Forest in a couple of days to get your fourth spirit ring. What kind of spirit beast are you looking for?" Blue Silver Emperor asked casually.
"Hmm, I'm aiming for an attack-type spirit beast, preferably around eight thousand years old. I'm not too picky about the specific type, as long as it's attack-oriented," Lin Yongming replied thoughtfully.
After all, there wasn't much to consider. He could simply hunt a lightning-attribute spirit beast.
However, Lin Yongming's main goal in coming to the Sunset Forest wasn't just to obtain a spirit ring. He was after the legendary Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, a treasure trove of heavenly herbs that could defy fate and alter one's destiny.
"So, you're still looking for a lightning-attribute spirit beast? I wonder how dangerous the Sunset Forest is compared to the Star Dou Great Forest. We'll need to be careful once we enter. With our current strength, we should avoid any encounters with ten-thousand-year spirit beasts if possible," Blue Silver Emperor cautioned.
"Of course. While the Sunset Forest might not have as many ten-thousand-year spirit beasts as the Star Dou Great Forest, there are still quite a few, possibly even some nearing ninety thousand years," Lin Yongming replied knowingly.
"Yeah, without the protection of a sect elder or a powerful escort, we'll have to rely on ourselves," Blue Silver Emperor sighed.
"A'Yin, don't worry. If things get too dangerous, I don't necessarily need an eight-thousand-year spirit beast. A five or six-thousand-year one will do. Our safety is more important than a spirit ring," Lin Yongming said gently, pulling Blue Silver Emperor into a hug.
"But if the spirit ring's age is too low, we'll fall behind others. Let's play it by ear once we enter the forest. If we can get the best possible spirit ring, that would be ideal," Blue Silver Emperor said resolutely.
"Alright. It's getting late. You go take a bath first. We've been traveling all day, so let's rest early tonight. We'll explore the town tomorrow and enter the forest the day after," Lin Yongming suggested.
"Okay."
After Blue Silver Emperor finished her bath, it was Lin Yongming's turn.
...
"A'Yin, good night," Lin Yongming said after his bath.
"Xiao Ming, good night. You should rest early. You've been flying all day, so you must be tired," Blue Silver Emperor replied.
"Yeah."
Returning to his room, Lin Yongming meditated for a while to recover the spirit power he had expended during the day's flight. Afterward, he lay down to sleep.
...
The next day, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor changed into the clothes they had bought in town.
Blue Silver Emperor still wore a long dress, but she had added a pair of white stockings for warmth.
Arm in arm, they left the hotel and enjoyed a local specialty breakfast at a roadside stall.
They spent the day exploring Sunset Town.
Around 3 p.m., as they strolled through the streets, a familiar voice called out from behind them.
"Hey! Isn't that Brother Lin? I almost didn't recognize you in those new clothes. Fancy meeting you here in Sunset Town!" The voice belonged to Tang Hao.
"Brother Lin!" Tang Hao called out again from behind them.
Hearing the voice, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor turned around.
"Xiao Ming, it's the three siblings from the Haotian Sect we met a few days ago in the wasteland," Blue Silver Emperor reminded him.
"I recognized the voice. Since we've run into them again, let's go say hello."
"Alright."
Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor walked over to Tang Hao and his siblings.
"Brother Tang, I didn't expect to see you here in Sunset Town. How was your journey?" Lin Yongming greeted with a faint smile.
"We're doing well. Nothing eventful happened on the way. We just arrived in Sunset Town, so it's a surprise to run into you here," Tang Xiao replied.
"Sister Blue Silver, Brother Lin, hello!" Tang Yuehua greeted politely.
"Miss Tang, hello!" Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor nodded in response.
"Brother Lin, how long have you been here?" Tang Hao asked curiously.
"Not long. We arrived last night. Since the Sunset Forest is nearby, we decided to rest here for a couple of days before heading in," Lin Yongming explained.
"In that case, since we've met again, how about we have dinner together? You saved our little sister, and we haven't properly thanked you yet," Tang Xiao suggested.
"That sounds great! Big Brother, Second Brother, let's stay here for the night instead of rushing to Heaven Dou City. I heard the barbecue here is quite good," Tang Yuehua chimed in eagerly.
"Sister Blue Silver, Brother Lin, you're not going to refuse again, are you?" Tang Yuehua asked, her big eyes fixed on them.
"Of course not. Last time, we were in a hurry. But since we've met again, it would be rude of me to decline," Lin Yongming agreed with a nod.
"Brother Lin, you're too kind," Tang Xiao said with a hearty laugh.
"Since we're staying, we should find a hotel first. Which one are you staying at, Brother Lin?" Tang Hao asked.
"Oh, our hotel is about two streets away," Blue Silver Emperor replied, noticing Lin Yongming's gaze.
"It's only a little past three, so we have time before dinner. Let's get settled first, and then we can head to your hotel to book a room," Tang Hao suggested.
"We'll lead the way," Blue Silver Emperor said.
With that, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor walked ahead, followed by Tang Hao and his siblings.
"Sister Blue Silver, since you arrived last night, you must have tried the barbecue here. How is it?" Tang Yuehua quickened her pace to walk beside Blue Silver Emperor.
"It's really good. The barbecue place we went to is just a street away from our hotel," Blue Silver Emperor replied with a smile.
Soon, they arrived at the hotel where Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor were staying.
"This is the hotel. There should still be rooms available," Blue Silver Emperor said, pointing to the building.
"It looks decent. Let's stay here," Tang Xiao agreed.
The five of them entered the hotel, and Tang Xiao booked two rooms—one for himself and Tang Hao, and another for Tang Yuehua.
Coincidentally, their rooms were directly across from Lin Yongming's.
"Sister Blue Silver, are you and Brother Lin sharing a room?" Tang Yuehua asked curiously, holding her room key.
"Yes, but it's a double room. Xiao Ming and I grew up together, so we're used to sharing a room. Plus, his eyesight isn't great, so I need to take care of him," Blue Silver Emperor replied without hesitation.
"I see. Sister Blue Silver, you're so kind!" Tang Yuehua said, glancing at Lin Yongming's black blindfold.
"It's nothing," Blue Silver Emperor replied with a faint smile.
"Everyone, it's about time. Let's find a restaurant and continue our conversation over dinner," Tang Xiao suggested after checking Tang Yuehua's room.
Tang Hao emerged from his room as well. "Exactly! It's not every day we get to meet Brother Lin. We should have a drink together."
"Uh… I don't drink," Lin Yongming said awkwardly.
"What? A man who doesn't drink?" Tang Hao said, slinging an arm around Lin Yongming's shoulders.
"No. Xiao Ming can't drink. If you keep pushing, we're not going," Blue Silver Emperor said sternly, slapping Tang Hao's arm with enough force to make him let go.
The sound echoed through the hallway, and Tang Hao quickly released Lin Yongming.
"Brother Tang, you see, it's not that I don't want to drink," Lin Yongming said with a helpless shrug.
"Sister Blue Silver is right. Not everyone enjoys drinking like you, Second Brother," Tang Yuehua chided Tang Hao.
"Yeah, Second Brother, let's just drink together. Don't force others to join," Tang Xiao added.
"Fine, fine. I just wanted to liven things up," Tang Hao said, looking genuinely hurt.
"Brother Tang, chatting is enough. I've never touched alcohol in my life. With my eyesight already impaired, drinking would only make it harder for me to sense my surroundings," Lin Yongming explained calmly.
"You're right. I wasn't thinking. Sorry, Brother Lin," Tang Hao said apologetically, glancing at Lin Yongming's blindfold.
"It's fine. If you don't mind, I'll toast with water instead," Lin Yongming said with a smile.
"Deal. Let's go before it gets too late," Tang Hao agreed.
The five of them left the hotel, with Blue Silver Emperor walking beside Tang Yuehua and Lin Yongming flanked by Tang Hao and Tang Xiao.
"We ate here last night. It's really good," Blue Silver Emperor said, pointing to the restaurant.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go. We're starving after traveling all day," Tang Hao said, leading Lin Yongming into the restaurant.
"Boss, roast a whole beast for five people!"
"Coming right up! Please head to the private room on the second floor."
Soon, the five of them were seated at a round table in a private room.
Tang Yuehua sat beside Blue Silver Emperor, with Lin Yongming on her other side, followed by Tang Hao and Tang Xiao.
"Big Brother, Second Brother, Sister Blue Silver, Brother Lin, have some water," Tang Yuehua said, pouring tea for everyone.
"Yuehua, you don't need to be so polite," Blue Silver Emperor said with a smile.
"It's fine. You saved me, not my brothers," Tang Yuehua replied, bustling around to serve everyone.
Lin Yongming couldn't help but notice how lively Tang Yuehua was at this moment. In the original story, she had been portrayed as cold and dignified, much like Bibi Dong, exuding an air of authority—though not nearly as imposing as the Pope herself.
