Hearing Lin Yongming's heartfelt words, Tang Yuehua felt a sense of resonance. Although she was the daughter of the Sect Master of the Clear Sky Sect, she was well aware of the whispers and criticisms that sometimes surrounded her.
"I really admire you. Despite being at a natural disadvantage, you've managed to maintain such passion for cultivating your spirit power," Tang Yuehua said, looking at Lin Yongming with admiration.
"It's nothing. I just met someone very important in my life who has always encouraged me to keep going. As my spirit power grew, I learned to sense the sounds around me and use them to navigate the world."
"So, don't give up. Even if you can't cultivate spirit power in the future, I believe you can still earn respect through other means," Lin Yongming said, holding Blue Silver Emperor's hand as he spoke.
Tang Hao and the others immediately understood who Lin Yongming was referring to as the "important person" in his life.
Blue Silver Emperor, blushing slightly, lowered her head in a shy, feminine manner, making it clear to everyone.
"Why is Xiao Ming being so bold today?" Blue Silver Emperor thought to herself, feeling both sweet and embarrassed by Lin Yongming's words in front of others.
"Thank you… thank you for your encouragement," Tang Yuehua said, feeling a bit shy herself.
"Brother, I really admire you. If I were in your position, I might have given up long ago," Tang Hao said, impressed by Lin Yongming's resilience and determination.
"By the way, we've been chatting for a while, but we haven't even asked for the names of our saviors," Tang Xiao, the eldest of the three siblings, said with a calm and steady demeanor.
"Ah! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Lin Yongming, an attack-type spirit master."
"And this is Lan Yin, a control and healing-type spirit master," Lin Yongming introduced himself and Blue Silver Emperor.
"Lin Yongming, Lan Yin… we'll remember your names. Thank you again for saving our little sister, Tang Yuehua, from the Wolf Thieves."
"If there's anything we can do for you in the future, just let us know," Tang Xiao said with a nod.
"You're too kind," Lin Yongming said with a helpless smile.
"Yeah, it was just a coincidence that we arrived in time. No need to make such a big deal out of it," Blue Silver Emperor added, waving her hand dismissively.
"Big Brother is right. No matter what, we owe you for today. We're disciples of the Clear Sky Sect."
"How about this? After we settle Yuehua in Heaven Dou City, my brother and I can accompany you to the Sunset Forest to help you hunt for your spirit ring," Tang Hao suggested.
"No need to trouble yourselves. I'm sure you have your own matters to attend to. But speaking of the Clear Sky Sect, I feel like I've heard of it before," Lin Yongming said, declining Tang Hao's offer while feigning curiosity.
"You dummy… the Clear Sky Sect is one of the top three sects on the continent. Their inherited spirit is the Clear Sky Hammer, known as the number one tool spirit on the continent, renowned for its immense power and attack capabilities," Blue Silver Emperor explained to Lin Yongming.
"Ah, I remember now. I didn't expect to meet talented spirit masters from one of the top three sects today," Lin Yongming said with a look of admiration.
"Brother Lin, you're overestimating us. The reputation of our sect was built by our ancestors. We're just enjoying the fruits of their labor. But for you to reach level 40 as a Spirit Elder at just 15 years old is truly impressive."
"And your spirit, that deep blue sword-like weapon, is something we've never seen before. Your innate spirit power must be at least level 9, right?" Tang Xiao said calmly.
"My spirit is a sword, specifically a tachi. Like your sister, it's a mutated spirit, but mine is a beneficial mutation. As for my innate spirit power, you're right—it's level 9," Lin Yongming explained modestly.
"I see. No wonder we've never seen a spirit like yours before," Tang Xiao nodded.
"A beneficial mutated spirit… if only I had one like that," Tang Yuehua sighed, her mood dropping.
Seeing his sister's melancholy, Tang Xiao quickly changed the subject.
Suddenly, the carriage jolted, causing everyone to bounce slightly.
"Ah!" Tang Yuehua, with her low spirit power and weak physique, couldn't help but cry out as she was thrown forward, nearly falling into Lin Yongming's lap.
"Are you okay?" Lin Yongming reacted quickly, catching Tang Yuehua by her arms before she could fall.
However, the sudden movement caused Tang Yuehua's collar to loosen slightly, revealing a glimpse of her chest. Fortunately, Lin Yongming couldn't see it.
"Little sister, are you alright?" Tang Xiao quickly pulled Tang Yuehua back to his side.
"Big Brother, I'm fine," Tang Yuehua said, straightening her clothes. She glanced at Lin Yongming's blindfold and added, "Thank you, Lin Yongming."
"No problem," Lin Yongming replied calmly.
"We've left the barren area. We just crossed a ditch marking the boundary. We're safe now. The Heaven Dou Fortress is just ahead," Tang Hao said, peeking out of the carriage.
"That's good to hear," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Thank goodness he can't see," Tang Yuehua thought, though her cheeks were still slightly flushed.
The Heaven Dou Fortress was an imposing structure, with walls stretching over a kilometer, connecting two mountains. It was the outermost defensive line of the Heaven Dou Empire, guarded by heavy troops year-round despite being near a small town.
After another half hour, they arrived at the towering walls.
"Let's get out. We'll need to go through a routine inspection to pass," Tang Xiao said, stepping out of the carriage first.
Lin Yongming followed Tang Hao and the others out of the carriage.
The merchant, Boss Huang, and his group went through the gate first. Tang Hao and his siblings presented their sect tokens.
When it was Lin Yongming's turn, he simply showed his spirit master handbook, which served as his identification for traveling across the continent.
Blue Silver Emperor also had her own spirit master handbook, identifying her as a level 18 spirit master with a mutated Blue Silver Grass spirit. This handbook had been prepared for her by Xiao Rou.
Finally, they all passed through the gate without issue.
"Well, esteemed spirit masters, it's getting late. Allow me to treat you to dinner and arrange accommodations for the night. I know the best hotel in this town. What do you say?" Boss Huang offered, waiting for them at the gate.
"We appreciate your hospitality, Boss Huang," Tang Xiao said.
"It's the least I can do," Boss Huang replied.
"Boss Huang, Lan Yin and I plan to head to the next rest stop while it's still early. We won't trouble you further," Lin Yongming said, declining the offer.
Lin Yongming didn't want to get too involved with Tang Hao and the others. Their encounter had been purely coincidental.
"Brother Lin, why the rush? We're also heading to Heaven Dou City. We could travel together—it'd be more fun," Tang Hao said, trying to persuade him.
"Thank you for the offer, but we have other matters to attend to besides going to the Sunset Forest. We can't afford to linger," Lin Yongming explained with a smile.
"Alright. If you need any help in Heaven Dou City, you can find us at the Moon Pavilion," Tang Xiao said, stopping Tang Hao from pressing further.
"Got it," Lin Yongming nodded. "Farewell, everyone." He then led Blue Silver Emperor deeper into the town.
"Farewell," the three siblings said in unison.
"Big Brother, why did you stop me?" Tang Hao complained.
"I should be asking you. Why were you staring at Miss Lan Yin so much?" Tang Xiao retorted.
"Yeah, Second Brother, I noticed it too. Your eyes kept drifting toward Sister Lan Yin," Tang Yuehua added curiously.
Tang Xiao and Tang Yuehua knew Tang Hao well, and his unusual behavior today had piqued their curiosity.
"I don't know why, but I feel like I've seen her before. It's like I've known her for a long time. I couldn't help but look at her," Tang Hao said, equally puzzled.
"Second Brother, as far as I remember, this is your first time leaving the sect. How could you have met her before? Oh! Maybe it's fate. Sister Lan Yin is indeed beautiful—gentle, elegant, and kind. She's truly one of a kind. But she's already taken, and you… well, you're a bit rough around the edges. You two don't seem like a good match," Tang Yuehua said bluntly.
"Hey, little sister, is that any way to talk about your brother? Do I seem like that kind of person? But I really do feel like I've met her before," Tang Hao said, lightly smacking Tang Yuehua's head.
"Ow!"
"And I'm not rough—I'm dignified and imposing," Tang Hao added.
"Alright, if it's meant to be, you'll meet again. But he's not an ordinary person, and he's associated with the Spirit Hall. We shouldn't get too close," Tang Xiao said, stopping the siblings from bickering.
"True."
Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor quickly made their way to the other side of the town, preparing to leave.
"Xiao Ming, it's already four o'clock. Why did we separate from them? It'll take about five hours to reach the next city, and it'll be dark by then," Blue Silver Emperor asked, puzzled.
"Ah Yin, they're from the Clear Sky Sect, a sect with multiple Titled Douluos. Who knows if they have people secretly following them? And I'm a member of the Spirit Hall. I can't get too close to them."
"Besides, I noticed that Tang Hao kept glancing at you during the trip. Who knows what they're thinking? It's better to stay away from these sect disciples. If they try to recruit us and we refuse, who knows if they'll try to eliminate us in the night?" Lin Yongming said seriously.
"Really? They seemed quite honorable to me. But you have a point. It's better not to get involved with them if we can avoid it," Blue Silver Emperor agreed.
"Tang Hao did seem to glance at me a few times. I wonder what he was thinking," Blue Silver Emperor added.
"Exactly. These sect disciples aren't as simple as they appear," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Let's head to the next city. If we move quickly, we shouldn't arrive too late," Blue Silver Emperor suggested.
"Let's go!" Once outside the town, Lin Yongming summoned his Purple Lightning Wings and took off with Blue Silver Emperor, moving much faster than before.
In truth, ever since Lin Yongming decided to be with Blue Silver Emperor, he had felt an inexplicable dislike for Tang Hao.
The main reason was the original storyline, where Blue Silver Emperor sacrificed herself for Tang Hao. Lin Yongming couldn't shake the fear that this fate might somehow repeat itself with him.
This was the last thing Lin Yongming wanted to think about.
"I wonder if Tang Hao intentionally exposed Blue Silver Emperor in the original story, or if it was an accident," Lin Yongming thought as he flew with Blue Silver Emperor in his arms.
Lin Yongming couldn't figure out Tang Hao's true intentions. If it was an accident, why did he take Blue Silver Emperor, who was pregnant at the time, on such dangerous journeys? Perhaps Tang Hao was trying to cheer her up during her pregnancy.
But if it was intentional, it made sense. Blue Silver Emperor was in her mature stage, and her pregnancy made it impossible to hide her aura. Coincidentally, Tang Hao was at level 90 and needed a spirit ring. And it just so happened that Blue Silver Emperor was discovered by the Spirit Hall during her childbirth.
The series of coincidences was too suspicious. If it was intentional, Tang Hao's subsequent depression and neglect of Tang San could be seen as an act of deep remorse.
But if it was an accident, the coincidences were too hard to ignore.
Regardless, Lin Yongming felt an instinctive aversion to Tang Hao after meeting him. He didn't want Tang Hao to lay eyes on Blue Silver Emperor, and he himself felt an unusual dislike for Tang Hao upon their first meeting.
"Or maybe I'm just jealous?" Lin Yongming wondered.
"Xiao Ming, we're veering off course. Are you distracted? Or are you reluctant to leave Tang Yuehua? I saw how you caught her in the carriage—you might have pulled a bit too hard, and her clothes slipped a little," Blue Silver Emperor said, noticing the deviation in their path and Lin Yongming's distracted expression.
"Ah Yin, what are you talking about? It was an emergency. Even if there was a 'slip,' I couldn't see it. If I were to look at anyone, it would be you," Lin Yongming said, his face darkening at the accusation.
"True. That's one good thing about you being blind—I don't have to worry about you being distracted by others," Blue Silver Emperor said with a satisfied nod.
"Hmph! Ah Yin, how could you doubt me? You deserve a spanking," Lin Yongming said, pretending to be upset.
He then lightly smacked Blue Silver Emperor's backside with his right hand.
"Ah! You're dead! How dare you hit me there!" Blue Silver Emperor's face turned red, and she lightly punched Lin Yongming's chest.
"Hmph! That's what you get for accusing me," Lin Yongming said, pouting.
"I was just teasing you. But now I have reason to believe you took advantage of me," Blue Silver Emperor said suspiciously.
"I didn't mean to. I can't see, so I accidentally hit the wrong spot."
"I don't believe you. You're such a little devil!"
"I really didn't mean to."
By a little past nine in the evening, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor arrived at a small city. Since it was already dark, Lin Yongming flew directly into the city, landing in a secluded alley.
"I'm starving after traveling all day," Blue Silver Emperor said as they walked out of the alley and spotted a night market in the distance.
"Let's eat and then rest," Lin Yongming said.
