Embarrassed

"How are you holding up?" Tasha asked as soon as they both stepped out of the room.

"Fine." No one said anything until Karlos took the first step and made his way to sit down. Tasha soon followed right after him and sat beside him.

"I- I missed you." She confessed once more. Not caring if his wife who was also her best friend was in the other ward.

Karlos closed his eyes, leaning his head against the wall, completely ignoring her.

Luckily for Karlos, he was not one to let his emotions cloud his judgment and he needed to focus on what was important right now.

While he was doing this, Tasha's mind and thoughts drifted off to what she had witnessed between him and Berlin.

'Do not tell me she has taken all of your attention away just from one kiss, that is impossible.' The flame of jealousy suddenly rose within her.

"I - I feel like kissing you...a-and I don't want to lose you. " She spoke her desire out loud, suddenly. She always yearned to kiss him on the lips and taste how he tasted. She was scared of so many things and the worst was losing his love, the fill of him inside her and the sweet words he used to whisper into her ears, making her shiver all over.

"We've already talked about this." He said plainly.

"Karlos..." She was about to protest when Karlos raised his right hand in front of her and shook his head. It was obvious he was definitely not going to have it.

"You sound like a broken record," he paused so that she could take in his words, "Give up!"

"No, please give me another chance by looking beyond the things that have happened in the past. I won't disappoint you again. I can please you in more ways than one." She said to him and Karlos frowned with boredom.

Due to today's argument they had, Tasha had come to know the difference between where she and Berlin stood. Unless Karlos divorces Berlin, so, they could be together which he wouldn't do because of his mother. And there was no way she would be able to be forgiven by him.

His silence stung. Maybe it would be much better if he were angry than having a passive expression on his face.

She still wasn't going to give up on him and let him slip through her fingers like sand. She has too much love for him to do that.

He was so close to her, yet so far, and the thought was driving her insane. She got up and walked away with tears in her eyes.

He watched her go.

A few minutes later...

The doctor walked in.

"I need to do some few check-ups on her," he said as he glanced at the young man before walking into the room and Karlos followed suit.

Berlin had been finding it hard to sleep and was awake when the doctor came in with Karlos and no Tasha.

'Berlin remain unfazed. You shouldn't feel anything about what is going on between them. These lovers should be the last people on earth You should be thinking about.'

She let out an exasperated sigh at her thought.

"How is my patient doing?" He asked as he smiled, revealing a part of his nice set of teeth.

"Coping." She smiled back at him.

"Does your body still hurt anywhere aside from your arm?" The doctor asked as he slowly checked her arm.

"Yes. My head still hurts" Berlin replied.

She was speaking like somebody who was a little drowsy.

"You have to endure the pains, for now, another pain relief will be added to your medication soon. " The doctor said while scribbling something on his book.

"Mrs. Wayne you can eat something now." After saying this to her, he turned to the patient's husband to say, "Mr. Wayne, the dishes should be light."

"Ok, will do," he replied

And with that, the doctor strode out of the room.

Noticing his presence, Berlin looked at him. Her eyes were tempted to shed tears.

Her emotions throbbed just by staring at him. She thought about giving up. The same feeling again.

'He is definitely holding a candle for her best friend.'

Berlin wanted to get out of the bed. However, as she moved, she suddenly felt dizzy and almost fell down. He hurriedly walked to her and caught her. One of his hands was holding her arm, and the other was on her waist. She could not help stepping away from him.

'His mind and body belonged to her best friend'

Berlin began to feel a bit uneasy, she squirmed, and said, "I - I need to go to the bathroom."

"Okay, let's go."

Berlin was shocked.

'Let's go?'

'Was he going to take her?' Looking up at him, she found Karlos did not seem to be joking.

Berlin's face was burning as she tried to help herself, "It's alright. I can go on my own."

"Don't be shy. I have seen your naked body after all." He did not see anything wrong and gracefully took her in his arms.

Berlin was startled and asked, a blush appearing on her cheek, W-what are you doing?"

She had a puzzled look on her face and Karlos's heart softened as he kept a straight face, "What are you afraid of?"

Berlin's face changed from shyness to embarrassment and muttered, " You...I..."

Karlos heaved a sigh "Didn't you say you want to go to the bathroom?"

He held her gently in his arms and walked towards the bathroom. Berlin was totally surprised. She did not expect that he would do this for her... however, this was so embarrassing for her.

In front of the bathroom, Karlos proceeded to open the door, Berlin quickly said, "Wait a second. Just let me down. I - I can do this on my own."

"Alright." Karlos did not insist any further and watched Berlin scurry off into the bathroom.

She glanced at him and saw a subtle smile on his face. 'He was smiling?' Did she just see a ghost? Someone like Karlos could smile?

However, it was just for a moment. Because as she looked at him again, the smile had disappeared completely, as if it was never there.

Karlos saw her staring at him, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Do you need help?"
